The good duos just don't say they're duo often.

The main Problem is, when you duoq you get harder enemys, so if the enemy bot lane IS NOT DUOing they are most likely above the skilllevel of the duoq guys.

So if their communication does not excel their skillgap, they loose.

That's why I, when I go duoing, tend to split our power on different lanes we are good at (I mainly play toplane, so any lane would possible for my duopartner, mid can roam top if needed, jungle can gank top if needed, i can tele bot if needed, making stuff a lot easier)

Still, if we fail good communication (do you need help/shall i tele bot? "Naaaah" "An ally has been slain" "maybe i needed help...") then we loose even harder...

Maybe this only happens in low elo were people blast duos and think they are better then duos, but also suck.

I tend to see duos in my games, others games, on stream, etc, usually not do so well.

You would think having that communication element, and assume they know the others playstyle a bit, they would play better than 2 strangers but...

It's a stereotype that duos do back because with all stereotypes, it came from somewhere, and it tends to at least have some truth to it.

When I see a duo go in different lanes, 1, they rarely say they are a duo, and 2, they do fine. When I see people try to force their way into bot together, it tends to disrupt champ select because they may not be the only ones wanting those positions, and tend to not budge on going them together and will complain if they don't duo in the same lane.

I've seen it the above way more often than I have not.

The reason this is, Is first: People remember bad things more than good things/confirmation bias. And second: When you duo, your MMR is raised in that your opponents will be better then everyone on your team, as a balance against the communication element.

Me and my friend used to duo all the time (I am a support main and he would adc). It was really a 50/50 shot because he was just an alright adc, had good games but would easily tilt. But every champ select he would say 'bot with canapn' and either no one would care or it would just cause problems. We found much better success if we just said nothing and happened to get bot together.

Words that make me admit defeat at champ select:

"Bot" , "Bot with <player name>"

"Let me go <lane>. I'm a <rank> smurf"

think it's because the duo is often IRL friends. one most likely got the other into league and thus the latter's skill is not nearly up to par with his/her friend.

then they get matched with people way above the noob's skill level and consequently get trashed
