if I only played 8 of 10 placement matches when the season ends...

and got shitty results (say I lost 6 of those 8 games)... Will my mmr from those shitty placement matches reset in new season and I'll get a chance to replay 10 placement matches? I don't want to be placed in Bronze and waste time to get out of it.

Anyone knows? Or should I just play those last 2 games... get a worst result possible being 2/10- and deal with it?

Play those games!

I recently played my 10 placements matches with 7 losses and 3 victories. Guess what I got? Gold freaking 5!!

Apparently it's calculating your rank based on personal success. I got feeders, afkers and flamers and didn't really feed myself even though my team mates were sometimes blaming me on doing so... I just tried my best and it worked.

(Also I think it has to do with the fact that I only played support and I literally could't have carried the games we lost)

at the start of every season you get a "soft" reset of your ranking. Regardless if you played rank or not im pretty sure it happens to push players who were atop the ladder last year for the new year.

Pretty sure games played in the preseason count towards your mmr tho, just the ranked season officially ends tomorrow (for the rewards etc.) but you can def continue climbing ranks.

Oh does that mean I should just get the Bronze border and move on from there? I was thinking new season, I redo the placement matches- get placed in Silver maybe? Is that not feasible?

(This is a smurf... I've only ever done 8 ranked placement games ever on this account)

Your mmr will remain and in new season your placements will be decided on that MMR. I suggest you play those 2 games.

You get a soft reset but your ranked placement next year will take into account any ranked games you played the previous season and previous season's MMR regardless of the amount of games. Your best bet is to finish those two games because if you end the season unranked i know that the highest you can get in placements is silver 3 and thats if you go 10/10.

I've only ever played 8 placement games on this account. Never ranked before.

But I think I get the gist. So I'll play those 2 matches.. get bronze/silver border reward... new season starts- I'll need to do placement matches again and I'll be placed again?
