The actual way to counter Nasus

When someone firstpick Nasus, the first thing one would think is to counterpick him with a champion with a lot of early game power, try to deny Nasus' farm, and try to carry to victory. Examples of such champions: Riven Yasuo Fiora Or a ranged champion with a lot of harass, for example: Kennen Jayce Vladimir

Unfortunately, most of time those called "counterpicks" end up failing on stop Nasus from farming. As long as Nasus is not cheesed early, he can just start with Flask + 3 pots (or Cloth + 5 poths) and just farm, while sustaining all damage done. Then he returns to lane with a tank item, and end up just outsustaining his enemy laner, and killing him, and outscaling him.

Then other day, I was playing Chogath top. Since there was already an AP on my team, I planned to build tanky. The enemy picked Nasus because Nasus is said to be a counter to Cho'Gath. Then let me tell what happened. I knew I wouldn't do enough damage to stop Nasus from farming early. So I just focused on farming myself (and I've actually ended up outfarming Nasus) and building RoA, then stacking armor, enough so that even though Nasus would still 1x1 me, he would take a while to do so. I purchased Frozen Heart and Thornmail. Nasus tried to splitpush, but thanks to Cho'Gath's impressive waveclear, he took a while to actually take out all towers. When there were no tier 1/2 towers to take down, Nasus decided that it was time to participate during the teamfights, and that's the funny part; I ended up countering Nasus during teamfights. He couldn't try to focus my ADC and my mid laner because I used Rupture to peel Nasus off my carries. And Nasus couldn't focus me because I was too tanky to die quickly, and if he focused me, my ADC would kill Nasus easily.

Then, I started to think. Instead of counterpicking Nasus with a squishy champion with early game burst/poke, wouldn't be better to counterpick Nasus with a tanky champion that has waveclear and a lot of crowd control?

To test this theory, I tried to pick Maokai into the enemy Nasus on the battle that I just had. What happened is that I couldn't kill Nasus, but he couldn't kill me either. I was up with Nasus in terms of farming. I died to a gank early, but then, everytime Nasus tried to take out the tower, I could clear the minion waves. Nasus didn't used his E to help in clearing waves, as he wanted to stack his Q. This was giving me time to roam and help my team with ganks and taking objectives. Nasus tried to go into teamfights, but I could just peel him off my carries. After a RoA, I was stacking armor, so that Nasus couldn't kill me easily.

What do you think?

Nasus has multiple ways of counterplay; the normal one people focus on is "deny him early", but focusing on the "peel his immobile butt" is just as good. As long as you can go even/slightly ahead and peel him you should do fine.

The way to stop Nasus is to kill him early because he is super easy to kill pre 6, and then you win the game off that.

I like Shen 1 taunt and my team can generally focus him down quite easily.
