Why do people play mid gangplank?

its a more higher elo pick i had one smurfing recently in one of my matches he was a god i can see why its viable especially late game you just MUST know what your doing.

Because gp's ability to lane top is equal to the amount of ganks his jg gives him and how well he can keep the lane locked just outside of his tower range as well as pay attention to where the enemy mid lane and jg are. He also has to try not getting dived by the tanks who he can't even come close to dueling on there first back.

Gp mid on the other hand his equal to his ability to dodge the enemys damage, w at the right time, roam at the right time, avoid dying to ganks, and using his barrels right.

The idea here is that he is actually in control of what happens in his lane and he can actually duel his opponent..

He hard carries if people can play him well so they usually take him both mid and top. This is my plat smurf win ratio while I was still learning it

I can't win with gp anymore. last season . I could. now No matter how Ahead I get. he isn't that good anymore in the meta of shields and heals. a lot of his damage gets mitigated.

Well it makes sense. With his Q and free E he can cast and harass against champions that primarily do the same thing. In the top lane you find a lot of people diving him and bursting him down before he gets his power spikes.
