'We don't want URF to burn players out by having it in RGM frequently'
Let's play Ascension for the 15th or so time this year, and all for one on back to back weekends.
Let's play Ascension for the 15th or so time this year, and all for one on back to back weekends.
I love the amount of bitching URF gets. When it's not around, people complain about it never showing face. When it is around, people cant stop screaming about how unbalanced champion X. All of it has honestly ruined the mode for me and my friends unless we 5 man it. The amount of negativity I and others have seen sprout from this mode is shocking, blind pick has better days.
The thing is, those people who want URF back are too busy playing to post on the boards while it is out while those people who hate it get angry and post on the boards a lot when it's out.
Keep in mind that the boards aren't a single person or organization. It's much more like a park in that the people who are there one day may not all be the same as those who are there another day.
There is a lot of rage within the actual mode though, I agree. Maybe they should make it so people get the same IP whether they win or lose in URF, so nobody feels even the slightest pressure to win aside from for the sake of fun competition.
So you're telling me I'd get the same IP if I was going around as Anivia or Trundle repeatedly stopping allies' recalls and tp's. I dunno about that.
You'd then get reported. Don't forget that the report system is still in effect.
I love this kind of logic. In recent past, this is the frist topic in forever to get into first part of the front page that wants URF. When URF was around, I could hardly see single thread bitching how URF is "unbalanced" (especially since this was partially fixed with Random Pick) or something like that in front page.
So no, the amount of negativity didn't ruin it for you, your illusions did. If occasional threads that have 3 and below upvotes and are usually downvoted and never make it to the front page to get any relevancy ruined it for you then that's just ridiculous. But I've seen far more people bitching about how everyone else complain they want/don' want URF than actual threads about it. Don't know where this ilusion was conjured, but everytime I see someone saying "When URF isn't there, people want it, when it's there, people complain about it" I question whether these people passed elementary school mathemathics. In past year or two, no, there certainly wasn't big tide of people bitching about URF. Now and then someone wants URF back (like this ONE thread appearing after MONTHS or WEEKS of silence about it), when URF is around, I cannot see single relevant thread about how it's bad and unbalanced. That's just fabulations of some people like you.
Or in other words - Compare amount of recent "I want URF back" "URF is unbalanced" threads with "Vayne is broken" threads. That is again, If you know at least elementary school math. Acting like URF-threads engulf boards in obnoxious amounts like amount of nerf-Vayne threads is just logical inability of individual.
My logic is based around the in-game experiences me and others have had every time URF was in. Yours seems to be based solely on boards threads. Schooling has little to do with this as well... Maybe when it comes back out I will do a video on it, would make a easy project for my college classes where I need to present a informative speech to all 100+ of my peers.
That pretty much describes everything about the boards though. People complain for months on end about something, and if riot caves and finally gives it to them, either A) People complain about how the did it, or B) people say absolutely nothing, and go on to complaining about something else.
The boards are a place for feedback and for people to post opinions..
So yeah, anytime Riot does something even remotely controversial, praiseworthy, or significant in any sense, you'll find people here to comment on it, that's kinda what they're for.
Telling people not to complain on the boards is like telling pigeons not to shit on my car in the morning.. it happens!
I did a take on the number of champions used over a weekend some earlier tiem ti was on: 3 days, about 7 matches per day. 21 different champions.
Just 21, from a pool of, at the time, 125.
The difference is that most champions in ascension are either good or mediocre, while in urf the game is just dominated by busted picks like
and
down voted for people having the most fun on the most broken champs
I already dont like you
Expect in ARURF you cant keep picking OP picks anyways so its more of a funner version of ARAM
until the rng gives one of your team a really weak champion verus a relly broken champion which you cant know until the match is confirmed
all for one is fun as shit, other than all for one, nexus siege has to be my favorite, urf can be super annoying and 3 games of getting destroyed isn't worth 1 decent urf game tbh
My favorite game mode is called "One for All", by the way.
Would be kind of a clusterf*ck if five champions become one and have 20 abilities and 30 items.
URF and Ascension are two different beasts.
Ascension is balanced as far as the top tier picks aren't so much better than average picks. Certain exceptions existed last weekend like Rengar and Kha, but I blame their recent updates rather than the gamemode. About the only champs that just aren't viable in Ascension are most marksmen, since they're given no time to CS before being rushed into a hectic teamfight and no one signed up to be a support and peel for them.
Meanwhile, the discrepancy between top tier picks and average picks in URF is so high it makes Snoop Dog jealous. You get a team of average URF champs together against a team that picks Eve, and you're fucked. The only way to fight broken URF champs is to have one yourself. That's why ARURF didn't fix much, teams were getting janky champs while their opponents were pulling out Ezreal and Wukong. The chances for success are heavily stacked right from champ select.
The biggest problem is that URF is so rarely used that Riot doesn't have to balance it. They don't give a damn that top tier picks are so gamebreaking because the mode is only around for a handful of days the entire year. If URF came more frequently, Riot would have to try to balance that shit. What are they going to do, pre-ban all the broken champs? That's a good chunk of the roster gone. Try to balance champs just for URF? The balance team is struggling with SR as it is now. Buff the weaker champs? What are you going to do, give them more CDR? Let them start three levels ahead? Change the minimap to pictures of their favorite champs in bathing suits so that players have something to look at during the constant grey screens?
After a handful of games, URF stops being fun because you have the same champs kicking your ass all the time. Ascension doesn't have that problem; most of the time, anyway. That's why modes like Ascension and Hexakill come around so often, players can actually play a lot of their favorite champs in them without getting stomped into the ground. Meanwhile, if you're not exclusively picking top tier champs in URF, you're not going to win.
Yeah. I played urf for the first time last year because I was curious about why people thought it was the bees knees.
After my second game I was thinking "People really find this fun?" And I haven't touched the mode since
Change the minimap to pictures of their favorite champs in bathing suits so that players have something to look at during the constant grey screens?
"What? I'm already in a bathing suit!"
corection, you are in a bath tub
What's wrong with Ascension?
It makes people think their entitled to something or whtevr
How would you feel if Christmas came once a month?
I would feel pretty happy?
Since Christmas for me is just family dinner where we manage to all get together, enjoy some good meal and bake several good cakes... Yop I wouldn't mind enjoying ONE NIGHT like that every month.
People pretend current URF duration is same as the one before. RGM was supposed to fix this, allow modes to be more frequent and yet maintain its uniqueness. They achieved that by limiting them to merely four days. This all was designed directly for URF so that it can come out more times per year. Yet it turned into Ascension all the year, sometimes One for All and Hexakill, rarely Nexus Siege and LotPK.
Don't understand what was the point of cutting URF into four days when it came only like... twice? Thrice? Basically URF this year was there for nearly the same amount or slightly more than last years, just separated. Yet this system was supposed to bring it back more frequently and only limit it to four days so that it doesn't get boring for several weeks. Instead once people'll miss it again, it'll return in small doses.
So this argument of yours was fine last years, not this year, with Random weekly modes that came from the idea on Boards to bring URF more frequently just for fewer days. Riot commented they'll try to work on it and eventually announced Random weekly modes.
"Christmas only comes once a year, but your birthday comes 8 times a year" - Riot Games.
That's essentially what we've got going on right now. Honestly, I miss when it was a Featured Mode available for 2 weeks then it was gone, it was easier to get excited for any mode. Now I don't even check what the mode is.
Anyone else wants URF back and not ARURF ?
I know it helps not having every same champions each game, but I enjoyed it way more when we could choose our champs. I didn't like being forced to play a champion that I don't like at all. I was usually doing 20 games or more when URF was here, I barely did 2 games of ARURF and got bored really fast.
At least when we could choose our champs, I was enjoying the game, even if we got dominated, at least I played a champion I like and wasn't pissed since minute 1.
I preferred the random champ aspect. That said, both should be in the rotation from time to time. So people who like one but not the other still get a chance to play the mode the way they enjoyed.
Absolutely prefer URF to ARURF, and for the same reasons you mentioned!
Here's a real quote: "we are ready to share that Ultra Rapid Fire will appear at least twice in 2016" It's not burnout. They're just keeping their word. Don't like it? Tough.
at least 2 times means that the least you can expect is twice. It doesn't specify how many more tho. So, as long as they bring it out 2 or more, no matter how many more, they're still keeping their word
Why did this get upvotes but the one above it didn't when they're saying the same thing?
we're not saying the same thing. They only released URF 2 times. NO, ARURF IS NOT URF, It's a boring stupid shit. If i wanted random, i'd play aram. The commenter above says that they are keeping their word by only releasing it 2 times. They are playing with words.
Oh I see. I thought you were saying that as well cuz of your last sentence. But you were just saying his wording was dumb. I gotcha
i just want hexa on the rift instead of treeline
i just want hexa on the rift instead of treeline
I do too. Hexa on TT is fun, but i'm not sure why we haven't seen it on SR or Black market brawlers
They did do it on SR before they moved it to TT. It was basically "Normal SR game with two tops" and flopped as people played one or two games and then didn't touch it again. It was boring and uninspired. I saw maybe one attempted double jungle, and that just led to our junglers arguing over who gets what camps.
Once it moved to TT, a map that a large section of players will never play on outside of Hexakill, players loved the constant battles that resulted from packing a lot of players in a small space. Players respond well to these types of modes, since it removes a lot of the more frustrating or slow features of League like CSing and role calling. (I personally suspect the popularity of modes like Poro King and Ascension stems in no small part from no one being forced to be support)
BMB was more of a mode to test new item ideas than anything else. The ability to buff and upgrade your own minions was neat on paper, but quickly became lame as it meant comebacks were difficult and snowballing was all important. If a team started to fall behind, the enemy minions quickly became too much to handle even for champions. Late game scaling champs were useless.
I would LITERALLY play more urf than ranked and norms. People are there for fun and it's not stressful. Honestly would make league 100000x better if we could always URF
AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN A BLACK MARKET BRAWLERS YET??? [zombie-brand-mindblown]
Yes, I completely agree. If we had urf as a permanent game mode or all the game modes as permanent gamemodes everyone would be happy. (Sort of like cod has all the different game types). It would also attract more players meaning more money for riot. All in all it's a win=win situation
How do you think Riot would be able to sustain 10+ different modes if they had to remove Draft on certain servers because there weren't enough players playing it?
"Due to the populary of [RGMQ] Mode, we have decided to move Ranked Solo/Duo into the RGMQ rotation. It will appear 4 or 5 times in 2017. Enjoy!." -Riot
Ascension is probably one of the best rotating gamemodes, because nothing is inherently broken.
Things like URF, however, lose their charm pretty quick.
URF was great in the first cycle; ever since, however, you only get people picking the most broken champions. ARURF fixed that a little, but it suffered from the ARAM problem: "sigh, well, they got Eve. GG"
i kinda like ascension. it sucks when matchmaking is dumb. I had a game i was playing with friends and we went against a full team of diamonds, we were pretty much all gold. But matchmaking normally throws you a weird game for no reason now and again.
I also like one for all, i feel like it is ok in how many times it's shown up so far. I hate legend of the poro king to be honest. I prefer regular aram. I also hate hexakill because it's on twisted treeline and i don't really like twisted treeline.
I realized this year I don't even really like URF
[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]
Makes you appreciate how balanced the real game actually is

Yeah, if URF is the space station spinning out of control, vanilla is another space station reentering the atmosphere and landing on a small town.
they release URF in hopes it brings back some people who have quit, and that they buy RP
they realize urf is insanely fun but keeping it rotating every few weeks wouldn't have the same effect
people come back to play urf, some of those people stay, and some of those people buy rp
this is all rito cares about
They know we want urf more often
nothing rito does or says is for the players remember every decision is a business decision
I'm sorry, but "duh". Do you think Blizzard releases a new WoW xpac because it's what the players want? If you think that, there's a bridge I want to sell you...
lol comparing a full expansion to a game mode
grasping at straws are we?
I'm saying that if you honestly think any decision a game company makes is about you, you're either naive, ignorant, or stupid. It's always about money.
Where do you think you live bro, we capitalists here
