Division 4 is the cesspool of degenerates in every rank. demotion needs to happen quicker.

I am currently silver 1, trying to climb to gold. climbing from silver 4 to silver 1 was an easy task. everyone was kind of okay... no hardcore trolling or toxicity in neither teams... just a fun game.

Trying to climb to gold, i am matched with gold 4 players with 49% winrate over 500+ games. these guys are the most toxic people i've ever met. you can't carry these guys because they make themselves uncarriable. No body in gold 4 with over 500 games actually deserves to be there because They do not have the skill for the elo, and that's why they are gold 4 hardstucks just being shielded from demotion for the past 500 games.

thing is with demotion shielding from gold to silver.... you need to lose A LOT of games straight to actually get demoted, (i've been there)

this makes climbing to a new rank extremely difficult because of the toxicity and lack of teamwork with people who are stuck in 4th division.

It's like this in every division it's not just restricted to that elo

Diamond 4 is the worst example because they think they're good and they don't care about winning anymore since it's usually seen as the "i get to this rank and quit the game"

They just come back to play 2 games so they don't decay regardless of W/L it doesn't matter to them lol

Just wait till you have to deal with Diamond 4's, even if you're not close to diamond yourself LP wise just having the MMR of P1/D4 is rage inducing.

sorry to tell you this but its not just Gold 4, all of Gold is like that. Silver was my favorite rank because the people there are, overall, good enough to be competent but not good enough to be full of themselves. Thats changes in Gold.

I cant say how it is in plat because the low plat im at is still mostly golds.

Can confrim in P4 And people in D4 can also confirm , but it's much worse in D4 , there lp gains are bullshit

While i was climbing from silver to gold (since i fucked up my promos). I was mostly matched with gold 2 - plat 3 plays. Both in my team and the enemy team.

So, my conclusion simply is: you aren't really that great. And you got to grind up to get to gold.

If you want to get better. I suggest you learn how to trade in lane (unless you're a jungler). That alone can push you from silver to gold, if you know how to properly combo and trade.

PS: there's no decay out of gold 4 ;)

I feel you here. I get a lot of GoldIV on my team when I play ranked (Silver 1 and 2 now and again here) and it seems any game with GoldIV on my team is an instant loss because they go full 'Shut up silver' mode and throw their head down mid lane. Even if I'm carrying. Even if I'm 10-0 Xin jungle. Even if I offer sound polite advice and ward and use pings for most of my communication, these people blow their lids and then int or afk because how DARE THEY NOT BE THE CARRIES?!?

Its always been like that. This season I haven't really cared about trying to grind rank, but last season i was up to silver 1 as well. And whenever I got a Gold 4 with 0-20ish LP on my team I would worry.

B/c they basically already have the rewards, and they realize they arent good enough to climb thru gold to plat so they just don't care anymore, and demotion protection is pretty much just a golden ticket that allows them to troll at G4 low LP and not worry about getting demoted and losing the rewards.

Do you guys understand why I keep talking about class intervals and why Titles are a massively inaccurate gauge of skill yet?

Assuming 1 Rank = 1C and each division is equivalent range values. I feel like Riots demotion seems to be about 3/4C to 1C. Pretty large range, and makes an impact for fringe duoing cases. With the model I know for distribution we are talking about a 30% or 25% WR vs a properly placed player (G4 who should be demoted vs G4 who is properly placed.)

Now as they drop into a lower MM range as they sink you don't see a dramatic loss rate like this because they end up closer to their peers. Depending on # of games on the account impacts the MMR dip but If they are any level of silver that's not outside of the demotion range they never demote from gold4.

A lot of guesswork on my end, don't take this as a fact, its just my best guess here. I believe you'd need something like a 42%-43% or worse Loss rate vs Silver 3 MMR to actually demote from G4 + Enough games to prove that your outside of the standard Deviation.

Still learning more about the math and I don't have Riots system values. Hopefully I was very clear what assumptions I make, the math should check out but I don't have high confidence in accuracy. Still studying up on Standard Deviations and I am using a normal distribution model despite knowing full well that Logistical model is more accurate and likely the biases for Riots MMR system.
