Why do people flame me for brand support

I'm not a fan of support but because of the autofill, I need to support sometimes. I usually brand support and then become a carry late game. I even snowball sometimes. I do my job in lane. Don't take farm and stun when possible. What happened was I tried playing it and my team flamed me for it.this isn't the first time. It's happened a few times. Seriously. In low elo, zyra, Annie, velkoz, and Annie are good supports for the same reason. They have alot of damage and can wreak havoc in lane and win teamfights. Remember the ADC update. Brand support was a big thing although he was also considered a broken mid along with Talon, TF, and Zed(arhi is always god teir and riot never nerfs and she's not over picked or banned). But anyways, why is it they see me brand support and flame me for it when it's been a thing for a long time. Is it a case of wukong/pantheon aren't mids when they can actually do it successfully. (Wukong is usually mid during the tank meta).

Because you didn't buy item 2049 ? That is the only reason I'd flame a support.

It was played last night in LCK in MPVs win over KT. It is clearly a thing.

This. More than anything else, this.

Brand/Zyra/Annie etc as "support" who don't build at least sightstone should be suspended for trolling/INT'ing, because it's such a huge handicap to the team to not only have a support who can't support, but a support who doesn't even try to fulfill the most basic aspect of the role.

Eye of the watchers exists. In fact, in plat and above, you don't see frost Queens alot.

There really isn't a good excuse for not building Sightstone considering the good hybrid items it builds into.

I know many supports I have to play with are that stupid, infact sometimes I am the only sightstone buyer I see for serveral games.

Demainanyx: Makes a good point the adcs are probably not confident in thier ability to stay alive without hard peel or strong heals. That is because they are bad not that you are wrong to play Brand.

Just say its meta in Koera and that you are good at it, mute them if they keep complaining.

It just seems like Meta-slaves to me. Not so much that they are flaming you because of your choice of Support, because i can guarantee it would have been the same had you chosen Zyra, Annie, Vel, etc. But people want others to play traditional support champions. I mean i see this all the time as a Support main I like to change up a bit. But something people will bitch and moan because i go as someone else that doesnt heal. With that said just dont take it personal. When people act like that just ignore it and mute them in game and just play to your best.

At the same time though it could be that your teammates are sick of seeing those champions in the bot lane. Like ive seen times where people claim that because they watch X-streamer do it means its OP and everyone can do it. Then they take that mentality into the game and lose horribly. People want to win especially in Rank. To some it could come off as Oh this person got autofilled Support so he will just troll because he didnt get his role. This is why communication is key. Talk to your teammates and let them know.

Couldnt you say you were flaming the oppossing bot lane though. (Bad joke i no). Any number of reason if your low lvl maybe your team doesnt have the knowledge that its acceptable yet. I though it was common post 30 knowledge brand isnt a troll supp. Or it could just be people are tired of the kill bot lanes that are becoming so meta.

they flame you because the marksman who lanes with you is unskilled and playing a high risk high reward champion. you said low elo right? marksman is the least mobile and the least sturdy class.

they're relying on you to carry them and when you go with a champion that cant carry them they lash out at you for their inefficiencies

in all honesty i dont understand why players in low ELO dont just do double jungle or fighters bottom. i guess marksman range is just too powerful these days.

I'd have to know what they are flaming you about to make a decision. Your build seems fine and you don't have an extreme number of deaths or kills. They may just be upset that they aren't the special little snowflake in the game any more and want to flame to make themselves feel good.

I've had multiple games as Brand where I EQ and then W which chunks the enemy to 200 hp or so, and my ADC (Vayne normally) sees the damage goes off and instantly Flashes forward intent on getting that kill. Normally then is when the Blitzcrank makes a god hook through all the minions and somehow ends up pulling Vayne from the middle of the lane to under his tower where she instantly dies and somehow it's all my fault.

Or we get ganked by a Hecarim so I use my stun to interrupt his charge. Normally he turns and ults so I'm feared towards his teammates so I blow ult and W figuring I'm gonna do all the damage I can before I die so maybe Vayne can get a return kill. I die, and my ult gets my passive to pop on all three of them getting them down to 200 ish hp each. Again, that glimmer of hope shines in her eyes and Vayne tumbles forward with her Static Shiv proc ready and the lightning hits all three, leaving them all with 2 hp some how. "Triple Kill" with my portrait next to it pops up eventually as my passive plus DFT finally tick off those last few bits of health. "BRAND. STOP KSING!!" Yeah.... sure.... been dead for 5 seconds but yeah, I totally ks'd that intentionally....

So long as you actually listen to your ADC and do your best, I don't see a problem. One thing that can be an issue with mage supports is unintentionally pushing the wave. Zyra throwing her E through a minion wave automatically pushes it. If she does it muiltiple times, you may find yourself under the enemy tower with no vision or escape if the jungler comes. Brand can do the same with his Pillar if it isn't aimed properly. So if your AD is telling you to stop pushing the wave, that might be what they mean.
