Question about runes

SSShutTheDuckUp··1 votes·361 views

Looking at my rune pages i have 10, but some of them - i do not actually use. I was thinking about movement speed quints, when playing unfavorable matchup or when dodging skillshots is vital. What do you, community think about that? Are they worthy, do they help enough, or they are just outshined by other options.

Would love some feedback, and also - if you have any other suggestions - will be highly appreciated.

P. S. It is mostly for immobile mages, but also for limited-mobile tanks.

Thank you for taking time to read and answer! Have a wonderful day!

On some champions they're actually pretty damned effective, I wouldn't use them on mages aside from TF/Vladimir.

You certainly could take them, but I feel you get much more out of AP quints.

I do like them a lot on some tanks like Tahm Kench, he needs the speed for sticking, Udyr is a pretty good choice, basically any champion that has issues dealing with being kited around by other champions.

I was thinking about guys like zyra or velkoz, who have somehow crappy ratios but pretty decent base values, so i prefer penetration items of them.

Others: mage supports (morgana, lux, zyra). Right not i run armor quints on them, but i feel that they rarely help me when i get caught, so i was thinking about something that would help me not getting caught (in certain matchups)

What you think about them?

For morgana I use AP quints with magic pen marks flat armor seals and mr glyphs. The AP helps a lot with early harass since you need to use spell theifs anyway.

Morgana gets punished for no defense in botlane, because she shields the AD. With armor quints I have the feeling i can stay just a bit longer in lane, which could be the difference between sightstone and no sightstone

i mean positioning is the problem there not the sustain. but would you want unsure sustain or a more secured kill? the coveted FB is better in my opinion. but do what you like bro everyone plays different.

I have a really specialized page for Morgana support I run Hybrid pen marks, as I auto a lot with morg support between cooldowns to try and zone hard.

I run 2 Armor quints, 1 AP quint.

Flat HP Seals.

6 Flat AP Glyphs, and 3 MR Glyphs.

This is actually the page that KaSing uses I believe, and his Morgana is a very common target ban against him, it gives a lot of early game oppressiveness, as between the rune setup and the spellthief's edge you start close to 20 AP, so you get 18 extra damage on Q, 2 extra damage per tick of Tormented Soil, and 14 extra damage absorbed on black shield. Doesn't seem like much, but an extra 20 damage on each rotation early game can be pretty substantial.

To be completely honest though, runes and masteries are all personal preference, there's more optimal setups, but if you try them and they feel good to you, just go with them. You'll do better with what feels good to you rather than what xyz pro is doing, it just so happens KaSing's rune setup works very well for me.

I agree. Copying pros is good and always helpful. Then again everyone has own style, mechanics, skill. The key is to find what would be most useful for your style - to compensate your weaknesses and so on. When i play Morgana myself i am a little bit passive. Sure, if i have opportunities i engage, but if i want to make plays early i prefer Zyra. I pick Morgana over Zyra when I am afraid of enemy engage and i need some def power (black shield). Having some extra dmg on QW combo is pretty cool and helpful, but i personally prefer a little bit more durability. But if I want the raw dmg and pick potential i wouldn't pick Morgana because Zyra has more dmg and more range.

I have no ambitions to understand League better than anyone else. I play for fun and this stuff is based only on my personal experience. Of course - it could be wrong. But I prefer doing something not quite optimal, that make me feel comfortable, than something better, which does not suit my playstyle. For example - playing ADC I would not take any quints, different from AS, just because i feel good with them

I can see that, my issue with Zyra is that her CC doesn't last very long Morgana's level 1 root is longer than Zyra's level 5 snare. Sure Zyra is more effective in an AoE Situation as Morgana's Q is a single target ability, but her Q also deals more damage.

I just feel that Morgana is typically a bit more durable, and is more generally useful, where as Zyra is a little more of a Niche pick and has a focused purpose. Both are good champions, but I feel that Morgana is more useful in more situations.

Morg is more versatile. While being primary deff support she can make plays, take picks. Zyra is more a cheesy pick. Her dmg is over the roof, her zoning is insane. She, being a support, often outdamage all other 9 champs in the game. But in terms of usability Morg is clearly the better choice (when was the last time you saw Zyra in a progame). Anyway, Zyra has one advantage - I find her more fun to play (personal opinion). And at the end of the day that's what matters. It is a game after all.

They are great for certain supports and I would say it is a good grab against a vlekoz or xerath. Helped a lot with tank jungle meta last season for ganking and getting to camps and counter jungling.

Thank you buddy

The only champs that come to mind in making good use of MS quints are Hec and Singed.

The rest are likely not getting much our of MS quints.

Thanks for the opinion

I would use it with inmobile champs or just really slow ones since they tend to get a better advantage than the ones who already are fast.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

That was what made me think about MS quints. Also - skillshots hurts

I tried it on poppy jg and it really helps to pull off better ganks so you can just walk into lane and if things get ugly you have your movement speed steroid available. It also helps in lane when going against champs who rely a lot on skillshots like you said.
