We didn't like how Jayce abused criticals in order to burst someone

So we nerfed him in such a way that he now NEEDS to actually crit and invest in the stat in order to properly burst someone.

I'm getting really tired of your shenanigans Rito.

Maybe they could deal with crit fundamentally being a broken, rng stat. Nah.

crit is the only way many AD champions have a viable late game

I don't like how any adc abuses crits to burst some one..... While i totally agree with riot on the W nerf as jayce was to strong, it'S pretty strange to claim it beeing an anti crit change. Not letting the aditional damage work with crit would proably be a to obvious solution if you want to reduce the impact of crit on jayce.

TF jayce was still in a very good spot and it could be used alongside BT when they had a little too bursty teams.

IE/Yumou's Jayce was the real problem, with crits going all the way up to 1K damages.

With the change, TF Jayce can't properly fully burst anymore, whereas IE/Yumou's still can, assuming he gets lucky.

That makes no sense whatsoever in either problems of Jayce, which were that crit is just bollocks and that he should go melee more often.

Crit is still bollocks.

And I ain't going melee when I know there's more chances of me being blown up instead because I won't kill my target in time anymore.

So what should they change? make him unable to buy IE and have people complain about that? What happened was that a new build starting getting popularity and riot had to reconsider his balance since this build was stronger.

Make his 3 W shots unable to crit. Simple as that. All hits outside that window are fair game.

It's a trade-off that noone of sane mind would complain about.

Instead, his burst combo is now obliged to crit in order to do proper damage.

LongFur Fox1 votes

It is another possible fix but I doubt there would be no one who complained saying they have played him that way since season 1 or something silly like that.

An argument that no one cares about when it comes to actual game health though.

As much as I enjoyed crit Jayce as a Jayce main, there's some lines you have to draw in favor of the game in total.

Increase the base damage on Hyperdrive (thats the name right?), reduce critical damage on each attack, and slightly reduce damage to structures. Boom, done.

Fed by Snu Snu1 votes

I'd argue about structure damage, since there are much worst offenders in the game right now regarding that (looking at you Nasus) and he is fairly punishable if he decides to split push. (only MS boosts, no dashes, easy to burst if caught out since his builds are full glass cannon)

Even removing crits altogether from the 130% dmg hyperdrive would solve any issues with the double dipping into critical. His main sources of burst always were TF and muramana and the 10% crit chance was always a bonus that didn't matter.

But with IE, it just goes overkill mode. Similarly to Riven actually.

Where does it say anything about crit?

Patch 5.2 "For a guy so strong when it comes to long-range combat, it doesn't make the most sense that he should blow you up in close-quarters without the use of his hammer. Lowering Hyper Charge's late-game shenanigans should keep even the most fed Jayce's out there from getting too unfair. It's also unfair for him to be that good looking, but that's not something we can nerf. "

And Patch 4.21 "Before this change, you could activate Hyper Charge, wait a bit, then Double Hyper Charge someone, doing 'The Most Damage In League of Legends' (maybe?). It was unintended and kind of goofy."

I hate it when people misquote others. You weren't even taking a quote out of context. You just straight up lied. Why?

Fed by Snu Snu1 votes

And then you understand that the context you are copy pasting is bullshit, because any good Jayce player would already use his hammer form to blow people up properly.

Do you know what allowed to blow people up when ranged? Critical and only critical.

qetzel1 votes

Not the accelerated Q? My my my... I think that is what they meant by long-ranged combat. I will again quote

"it doesn't make the most sense that he should blow you up in close-quarters without the use of his hammer", special emphasis on the "close quarters".

Fed by Snu Snu1 votes

Ye, and they nerfed his W instead of his E-Q, in order to force him to get in close quarters.

You just brought "you went full retard" in a whole new level.

qetzel1 votes

No, they nerfed his W because it was often used for close quarter damage. The patch notes suggest that Riot is fine (for now) with the long ranged damage from EQ.
