When did creep aggro become so erratic and random?

The last time I remember Riot touching creeps was in S4 where they changed the particles of the ranged minions and up to this day they are still confusing and have a time disparity between connection and damage application.

This resulted in some amount of CS being lost.

But now you have extremely random creep aggro as well. Creeps changing targets without a champion attacking another and very often denying creeps from you. Most notable the siege minion just can't stick to a target.

When was this implemented? Why?

Creeps will forever be the biggest enigma in this game to me.

Poke enemy once

Creeps lose aggro once I go behind my wave

Poke enemy again

Creeps follow me the whole way to river brush

?????

I've never seen a wave agro Yasuo so working as intended

Forever missing the odd CS because certain minions (namely melee, siege and canon) randomly decide to switch targets, usually to the ones that hit it last and not the one closest to it.

I've literally seen minions completely bypass the enemy melee minions, and go for the casters. I've even seen the odd minion get stuck in an allied turret, which often can be the difference between taking and not taking an enemy turret. The worst is that it's impossible to understand minion aggro, when you poke the enemy laner once and their minions chase you under turret, but when they straight up kill you, your minions don't even look.

Their behaviour has been off ever since they tweaked them, just dealt with it thus far, though your thread has reminded me how erratic and inconsistent they are.

I've given up trying to figure out creep aggro. My lane opponent attacks me and attracts like 2 melee minions for 3 seconds. I attack them and the melee minions and 1 caster minion chase me to my tower.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I legitimately hate my own minions right now more than actual creep block. Being denied a kill from the enemy minions physically walling me is one thing, but losing 2-3 CS from my own minions randomly switching targets (or at least non-apparently) is actually tilting given how long it happens.

Marshbouy5/10/2017, 12:18:21 AM2 votes

Completely agree. It will randomly focus lower health creeps for no reason.

The worst is when a minion lost agro but would require 2 autos to kill. You just know that if you throw one, it'll be dead before you throw the next.

It's been around for a looongg time.

The last time I saw a lot of people Riot about it was when juggernauts were played a lot, and when Hecarim got his "pass through minions" passive removed, which gutted him in the top lane (along with other changes)

On the topic, why do I even get minion blocked by my own minions to begin with? I thought the little fucks were meant to be on my side.

SweedishGunner5/9/2017, 7:20:59 PM2 votes

Probably when they 'fixed' minion block.

Volibear Boss5/9/2017, 6:11:34 PM2 votes

Noticed it aswell, and saw threads months ago about it, i dont know but i think its some sort of bug they´ve never fixed because its just a minor one.

You think it's bad in general, try playing Teemo. I swear every time you put a mushroom down, one of the creeps changes aggro to another target just so they can walk down to the river entrance and blow it up.

AirKingNeo5/9/2017, 9:44:30 PM1 votes

Creep aggro hasn't been changed since season 1.

Divewing5/10/2017, 1:39:27 AM1 votes

What confuses me, is as Azir, soldier AAs draw aggro. OK fine, I'll assume this is because aggro is drawn off AAs, but is not an on hit effect, as Sand Soldiers apply spell, not on hit, effects.

Then why does Ezreal Q draw aggro?

Both existing together is contradictory.

If minions wouldn't chase me to my turret from 1 auto attack while fiora can off load on me with my minions not blinking an eye at her, I wouldnt be so mad about this, or the way they position themselves to make an impassible wall so when i go to CS it makes me go around the river an through my enemy's turret to get the minion.

MysticFlameHaze5/10/2017, 3:42:15 AM1 votes

I honestly think riot should clarify what creeps aggro, because my friend argued to me that certain abilities will not draw aggro when casted in certain minion ranges. and he is right, so i sometimes don't know why i'm being aggro'd when trading against my lane opponent but when they attack back they don't get creep damaged. it's frustrating at times.

MunchCrunchLunch5/10/2017, 4:16:22 AM1 votes

no. they changed creeps in season 5 ending

Comrade Napoleon5/10/2017, 5:36:35 AM1 votes

"creep" old Dota player spotted.

Sire Hippington5/10/2017, 2:44:55 PM1 votes

Honestly, that's the case for a very long time. It certainly got when they touched minion aggro in worse in S6, but it always has been an issue that is ignore. I can't say how many CS i lost because that low health melee minion felt the urge to suddenly charge behind my ranged minions to backstab them, or because a cannon creep swaped from his current target to a lowhealth minion that didn't have any agro befor. Or getting the agro of a creep for no apparent reason, or beeing unable to loose the agro of some creeps despite not attaking anything myself while my minions do attack the ones that chase me.. Minion AI is pretty bad and needs to be fixed.
