GP struggles hard with all in bruisers/fighters. So Fiora , Jax , Irelia , JarvanIV , Jayce , Kled , Olaf , Pantheon , Rumble . Now, some of these are more skill matchups than hard counters but they all have kits that can put them up and ahead of a GP. GP is a really good pick into tanks/low lane presence picks that need time to scale into the game. So as long as you're picking someone that can all in him lvl 3-5 you're in good shape.

Orianna is probably one of the more well rounded picks in the game. Her biggest weakness is when her team doesn't pick anyone that can effectively deliver her ball. She struggles with Fizz, but a good Ori should poke out fizz early. Morgana is legitimately the only real counter to her, but kit wise you either need someone that's got great mobility and the potential to all in, or you need to out range her and out scale her. Good counters are Ahri , Azir , Corki , Anivia , Xerath , Morgana.

GP lacks hard CC, so pretty much anybody that can get into his face and stay there.

For Orianna: Xerath, Vel'Koz and Ziggs can stay relatively save. Ekko works, Galio does too.

I dunno about all of them but I main MonkeyKing and smash both of those champs easy. And yes, I play Wukong mid too

I think Zyra has more range than Ori :p I've been taking Zyra mid...

So far 12 wins, 2 losses.

What does Ori have on Zyra?

however , orianna has lower cooldowns .. and a good oriana will hit all of them .

gp doesnt have counters.

even lane matchups he cant win himself, he can still play passive really easily and keep up in gold when 20 cs behind, when he lasthits minions with his q and waveclears with his barrels.

he will also still contribute to his team with his ult.

its pretty much impossible to directly counter him or shut him down, unless he plays really dumb. the best you can expect is to go even with him.

Jax Jayce Fiora Lucian

for gp fiora/jax work pretty well

for orianna, a really good azir, a good viktor, maybe syndra/anivia would work as well.

in what world does gp ever have to chose to fight jax?

if you dont suck at minion control, you can just freeze a wave in front of your turret for 15 minutes, and outfarm him just whith the extra gold from your q.

whats jax going to do? try to stun him? gp just hits w, heals up whatever damage was dealt to him and walks away. thats all he has to do.

if youre an idiot and try to actually fight an opponent head on whos stronger than you, yea. youre going to lose. but gp has the option of not to fight and just outfarm. this is what makes him hard to shut down and pretty much impossible to directly counter in any matchup.

why did you think even after a train of nerfs he repeatedly creeped his way back to the strongest top laner in solo que for the longest time? its simply the versatility and reliability of his kit.

jax outscales in dueling, splitpushing, but teamfights might be a problem,

you still cant counter gp and actually shut him down like other champions.

at the very least, even if you manage to pressure him in lane and he loses cs. he will still mostly keep up in gold, and he will still contribute to his team around the map with his ult.

thats just the thing. im not saying he cant be beat in a direct fight.

but he also has the perfect kit to avoid direct fights if he doesnt want to.

im saying there is no way to reduce gp's impact on a game like its possible with other champions, since gps kit allows him to farm from range, gets him extra gold to stay even when he falls behind in cs, and he still has an impact on skirmishes and teamfights around the map.

What about jayce? He's ranged, can bully gp a lot under tower, and he can all in pretty well

As for "what is Jax going to do", if GP keeps minions near his tower, he's ripe for dives. A tank jungler and Jax/Fiora can consistently dive a GP that doesn't have exhaust. All that assumes GPs jungler doesn't help there.

Given enough time, though, GP is going to wreck some faces (similar [though lesser] to Vayne).

thats a dive with his jungler.

you can do that to any top laner. camping someone isnt a specific strategy to him either. if gangplanks jungler comes around they could just as well dive the jax. it works both ways.

and overextending in front of the enemy turret is more likely to get the jax ganked than the gp getting dived.

his ult and barrels can make dives really quite risky. so youd need to be sure that his ult is down first. even then you might get counterganked.

those are all general gameplay strategies and not really gangplank counters.

im just saying gp doesnt have direct counterpicks due to how effective his kit makes him even when playing entirely passive.

GP is very weak to Kayle , A good Riven too.
