Why people are getting tired of this game

SirTeemoMushroom··32 votes·4,487 views
  1. It's no longer based on the premise of "will I be good enough to win this game" to, "I need to win this game to be promoted in some bullshit division system", and "I wonder if somebody is going to AFK or feed this game."
  2. Riot is complicating the game much more than it needs to be
  3. The balance team is fucking bad
  4. The Ping Discrepancy is just now being addressed
  5. Toxicity
  6. OP champion which have little counterplay.

  1. Riot is complicating the game much more than it needs to be***

ah? the game is getting dumbed down every year

Slythion5 votes

not sure why you were downvoted, the jungle is clear evidence of the "dumbing down" of the game

literally every change they've made to the jungle ever since s5 has dumbed down and made it more "beginner friendly"

  • scuttle vision and health
  • free visible timers on camps
  • ...plants
  • mandatory buff starts now
  • extended: practically mandatory bot-side buff starts
  • increased experience
  • etc
dominusx3 votes

yeh because there are people who think the game is hard because they are too busy typing shit in all chat instead of learning.

Anidan2 votes

It's funny because as of the latest change, DotA2, a game already more complex by its nature than League, made itself even more complicated to learn all the details of with the talent system they implemented for everyone, fountain usage, and wonky camp timings for stacking while League is easier than ever.

SrbLud5 votes

Looks to me like you just described 90% of competetive online games. League is hardly the only one facing theese issues.

The thing is, it's what League turned into. This isn't what made League fun. Queuing up and hoping to god you don't get a jungler that is getting outjungled or a bot or mid lane getting stomped on before 10 minutes. League is a snowball fiesta now.

This game is fun, but used to be so much better before they started fixing what wasn't broken in the first place.

What was the point of keystones? What was the point of reworking graves, he was fine as an ADC? What was the point of adding more damage etc in masteries and completely revamping the masteries in the first place? First tower gold? Why? Game's shorter, horrible idea.

What's the point of completely changing the jungle so it only appeals to certain champions? Why are you releasing champions with busted kits? Why can't you release a champion that is actually balanced upon release? Why do we have to deal with a champion that is broken and remains broken for several patches until you decide to finally nerf it?

I understand only in a perfect world can league be "100% balanced", but this game isn't even slightly balanced.

Why have you turned League, SoloQ into a "Who will have the feeder, afker on their team?" Back then, feeding wasn't even a big issue. If I had a lane feeding, I was still able to focus on my own lane and win it and hope to win the game by my /own/ skill and carry my team. Now I /HAVE/ to rely on that fucking feeder to at least continue trying.

Lets not forget, the majority of games are determined by who has the better jungler anymore.

Oh and autofill. Great system. Lets force everyone into roles they do not wish to play or know how to play well enough in ranked just so League has shorter queue times. Please,

If you do not agree with anything I said above, do you agree that you'd wait longer just so you can get into a champion select where everyone has at least /one/ of the roles they picked? No more having to deal with autofilled supports that leaves an ADC to get shit on because their support has no clue what they're doing vs the enemy main support. No more "Autofilled, can I go mid please? Im bad everywhere else and prolly feed".

The reason I'm getting tired of this game is because my main champion pool happens to consist of Karma, Katarina, Leblanc, Lissandra and Syndra. Aside from Liss(and Kat actually), I've had to put up with unnecessary bs reworks.

TheHappyReaperz1 votes

What was Syndra's Rework?

Catastrop1 votes

The one she got in the Mage Update. It was frankly unnecessary and all it did was boost her into permaban status and pigeon hole her into max W second, something I was very annoyed with because I personally prefer the flexibility of either W/E max second.

TheHappyReaperz2 votes

I'm not a Syndra player, so, why does it matter which skill you max?

Catastrop1 votes

I like when a champion has some amount of flexibility in their skill max order, it makes for much more intuitive gameplay imo because you can adapt your skills to what you're facing. Pre-rework Syndra could do this and not feel like you were gimping yourself if you didn't do the other, the rework ruined this aspect of her because W was so good that you had no reason to not max it second.

I am sad that I have to agree. But is Riot to blame? Not entirely. You said it yourself: is somebody going to AFK or feed and/or be toxic? (toxics also ruins games, since it leads to negative team spirit and usually loss).

I am having bad games recently, I know this happens, but this is so annoying. I am platinum since s4, and at the moment I play in low gold elo, and in the last 25 games, I lost ~20.

I understand that elo hell does not exist, and that the chance of having an AFK / a feeder / a toxic player (hence a free win or a free loss) is 50/50. But sometimes, you get streak of these bad games (whether you win or lose, games are not enjoyable with AFKs/int/toxic).

It feels horrible. I just had a few enjoyable games lately (that I sometime won, sometime lost).

I don't know...... should Riot be more punishing? Maybe. But yeah. feels terrible. =(

SirTeemoMushroom1 votes

yea.... toxic players are worst than feeders/afks? yea...... OK anyway ^_^

Jbels2 votes

Not to mention the ranked climb is losing meaning for people because of autofill. At this point I would rather wait to secure my role than get autofilled to support while the guy who got mid last time gets to keep it and feed his ass off in game

Guy Fox Teemo2 votes

Or people have been playing it for 3-4 yrs on the same map and got bored

Mizuki Zahra2 votes

I have given up on jungle because of the reworks and teammates are just rude, like a random yas will casually walk past me as I am taking blue buff and he just uses q or his dash at last second to steal it and ill be like why and all I get is "haha noob" then they blame me for not having high enough cs. how can I cs when they steal it like wtf team work doesn't exist in the online community full of randoms

there should be a que for "serious players" where if you troll you get a day ban or something more serious

Toru Itai2 votes

they are addressing The Ping Discrepancy? link plz?

3TWarrior1 votes

I believe they are referring to the nationwide server update where they basically payed like 250 million or whatever it was to have their own private line at each node-point across the country

the original fix made pings drop drastically...and then a week later, something went wrong and pings jumped even higher than they were before...

Noblewind2 votes

Overcomplicating the game in strange, unnecessary ways is the big one for me. Things like keystone masteries just make the game more annoying to play, like why can't it just be champs+skill with the actual kit usage + advantages through levels/items if you play well? The game is complicated enough with there being 130+ champions.

They also reinvent the game on a monthly basis whether it's a map change, champ concept change, full rework on a champ/item, etc. I can't even blame the balance team, it's an impossible job.

Hey I know what you mean bro. I'm not good at all, but just a few things I have found that help some with toxicity:

  1. Don't say anything unrelated to the game in chat

  2. Don't say anything in all chat other than LOL or ggwp

  3. Say positive things in chat related to the game. If someone else messes up: "oh darn we messed up, we gotta be more careful", if you mess up "sorry guys my bad". If someone does something good ALWAYS applaud "gj!" "dude that play!" etc.... As a jungler, I try to tell my team what my plan is for my route and where I'd like to gank, how I'd like to try to win the game etc... By saying things like this, you can focus your team on doing things to help you win rather than just thinking of random crap.

  4. Sometimes there will be a total baddie with dial up in top lane and mid will be raging uncontrollably and bot lane will be suiciding to towers and your whole team will rage in all chat the whole game and you'll lose. Sometimes you just lose no matter how hard you try to be a positive influence on the game. At the end of the day you only control one champion. This is why my recent 9 game win streak was broken.

  5. I think if you check out the current balance changes on the pbe you would be encouraged. With so many champs and stuff to balance the game around, it really isn't that easy for Riot to fix everything but I think they really do try. http://www.surrenderat20.net/p/current-pbe-balance-changes.html

You say that like it's easy

It really isn't. But I noticed I'm more successful when I do these things. You know, after the recent game i lost that broke my (pretty long) win streak(Ryze was raging and spamming in all chat and singed had 400 ms feeding hard core, I still thought we could win but they gave up to rage).

I went for a drive and found a private place, tilted my chair back, closed my eyes, imagined the best times i had with my high school gf, and jacked off :) Then I bought a pizza and worked on an android app for work.

Then I went home and slept early, woke up early, and I feel better today.... Gonna try to get back to gold today. I've been demoted twice this season :)

I've got demoted like 10 times and promoted back. Stuck in silver 2 and got to s1 a few times. I can't be nice with a 2-24 bot lane with a Lee support

Yeah, you just lose those games tho. Nothing you can do about it unless ur a god. It's easier with a duo you trust cuz that guarantees one good player on your team. And dodge the games with people talking lots and being negative in champ select cuz it doesnt affect your mmr which is what really matters rather than ur 3 or even 10 lp...

I asked 2 of my diamond friends to duo with me and boost me to plat but they said we can't since duos are way harder

GarthBrooksXD1 votes

I duo with people same mmr as me sometimes and had a lot of success. Funny u should mention duo q boost(essentially) cuz i played with diamond smurfs before and, frustratingly, had like a 50% win rate with them. Some of them got super toxic lol.

Balance team has always been bad. but the rest of it is true, even though it still ain't half as complex as dota.

SirTeemoMushroom1 votes

we don't play dota man ...

PopsiclePrince1 votes

It's not true that riot has bad balancing. Every champion has counterplay and it's normal that champions like assassins snowball harder and get tougher to play against when fed. It's like that with every champ... you could play against a 10/0 Urgot, and unless you're 10/0 yourself, he's gonna wreck you. And besides that every online game ever will have an aspect that people will consider OP. To me you just sound like someone who's stuck in "ELO hell" and is looking for other things to blame.
