#Why is this the only argument people seem to have about Fiora?
Not saying she's OP or not. I don't see her enough to care that much, but seriously...Time and time again I see basically the same argument.
Its simply a title. It has nothing to do with in-game capabilities.

People try to say she's intended to be able to beat anything (which she can't even do in the first place) simply because of her title, which is simply a few words of flavor-text tacked onto every champion. The issue with this is that: A) That would be horrible design B) Balance and lore do not intersect; you don't see Jax running around auto-winning, do you?
She has the title because she's a refined fencer. Fencing, rapiers, and 'duels/duelists' are often all clumped together. Absolutely nothing to do with her 1v1 balance intent lol.

You haven't seen people on the boards whining about how some enemy Fiora just mashed Q at them and killed them, despite X Y and Z outplay (even if the scenario is obviously untrue), and rather than calling out the legitimacy of the claim, someone says Fiora's supposed to do that because "She's THE Grand Duelist"?
Because I've seen that plenty of times, and while they don't directly say she should be able to 100-0 without any realistic counterplay, saying 'she's supposed to do the extremely questionable thing that whatever whiner said' instead of refuting the legitimacy of the claim is implying that it would be okay if she was broken simply because of her title.
In fact, when she WAS legitimately broken about a year or two ago, people were still trying to use that argument to justify her state.
Someone uses her title as justification for someone's complaint claims in most Fiora threads, whether the thread itself makes a legitimate point or not.

You have to admit that a champion's 'title' has nothing to do with balance, so nobody should be relating it to a champion's balance-state. That's all I'm talking about.
Its simply flavor text. Fiora's is a coincidence at best.
SaltyKracka4 votesIt was coincidence. Then Riot tried to design a target-agnostic toplaner off of the concept of "The Duelist" for a new Fiora, and we got this one out of it.
And hey, it's better than the old Fiora. This one has a kit that gives her the capacity to win duels against every champ without automatically doing so.

I think the kit is pretty well designed. The only thing I'd change about it personally is instead of 'lunge' whacking an enemy in range, actually making it a narrow stab with necessary adjustments to go along with it for the increased difficulty. Reason? Its a dash with a follow-up swing, not a lunge at all. Either that, or change the ability name to represent what it actually is.

I simply said a champion's title should never be perceived as a justification for their balance-state. Its flavor text and nothing more.

Joxcab1 votesPeople would probably riot though (no pun intended) if it was changed into a stronger single-target heal or some sort of bleed mechanic (because you know, stabbing through vital organs).
Makharya1 votesShe is a skirmisher and should be able to 1v1 reliably any non skimrisher 1v1 if you prefer it presented like that.
Duellist isn't just her title, it's also who she is in the game and so she needs to be good in 1V1, still other champ that are good in duel can fight her (Jax, Tryndamere).
