But like... Why is there still no option for no autofill?

Monstermushmush··4 votes·1,798 views

It seems like everyone supports the option of having a way to avoid having autofilled teammates while also waiting a few minutes longer to get into a match. For the people who don't care, they can just turn off the option. It doesn't seem too hard to me... and it might even make some of our games a bit less toxic. Pretty sweet deal if you'd ask me.

Wouldn't be a few hours. would add like 1-2 minutes

I'd rather be in que for 1-2 more minutes than a 30 minute game that was loss before i pressed ready

It would literally add hours to the queue time.

It's not 1-2 minutes. It's 3-4 times the current wait. I usually have a 7-8 minute wait now. I'm not going to wait 30 minutes to play.

Dude you're in the bottom 0.1% of all players. Of course it takes that long for you.

For normal people it wouldn't take that long

Unless your normal wait is 30 seconds, it will take longer than 1-2 minutes no matter what. Or is there a higher ratio of supports at higher ranks?

At any point where there is an imbalance in the number of people joining for each role, you have a constraint and anyone queuing up at any other role will have constantly increasing wait times unless you deal with the constraint somehow. You need to either increase the people playing the constrained role or limit the number of people in the other roles.

Autofill is the solution right now, like it or not. There absolutely has to be a solution. If autofill is removed, then what would you suggest to deal with the constraint?

I don't want it removed. I want it to be an option if you want to get into a game faster.

If make it optional you might as well remove it as the result will be the same.

Example:

You are on a baseball team and nobody want to play right field. The solution is to rotate if so everyone plays one inning at right field. (Autofill)

Give player the option to refuse to play right field and what happens? If one person takes the option, then someone else has to play 2 innings at right field. Pretty soon that person will opt out and then two people have to play 2 innings at right until everyone opts out and you have to either force someone to play there or not have a game.

I mean it's an option those, so you could just choose not to use it and keep your normal queue times, it legit says that in the title. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Yes, but here is the problem with making it an option.

When I was adc main, I'd get filled maybe 20% of the time and I was fine with that.

If you add an option to opt out of autofill and I choose to keep autofill active, I might get autofilled 25% of the time. I'm ok with that but some people are no so they start opting out. Now I'm up to getting autofilled 30% of the time. Rinse and repeat.

At what point is it not worth even having autofill? You will reach a point where if you want to play the role you want at all you have to opt out.

Higher you go would be even longer que times

Or are you just insulting everyone to look cool

Pika Fox1 votes

Because theres physically no way to support it.

Saezio1 votes

That is cool as long as it is not in ranked.

I hope you realise what you are implying for ranked means 2 separate queues and 2 separate ladders?

iPogoZ1 votes

[zombie-brand-facepalm] [zombie-brand-mindblown] How??? same queue but it would just narrow the amount of lobbies for people who have chosen to not auto fill since they couldn't be auto filled. there is no in-game advantage for either so there is absolutely no reason to have separate queues or ladders just change the filters on match searches.

Also this system makes most sense in ranks, if you are in promos, you don't want to risk getting auto-filled since you are affecting your chances of winning significantly and also can't dodge because it would count as a loss.

Saezio1 votes

Well, it's not fair to face autofilled people as an autofill-disable player, it's only fair if you get your role each game, everyone in that game should. So there should be different queues for autofill enabled/disabled players.

You yourself said it improves your chances to win and that's just fucked up in ranked. Waiting more shouldn't result in a higher winrate so the only way to implement it and be fair is to match people only with people that have the same setting.

But then it means there are 2 ladders because the people with autofill on never face the ones with autofill off so their MMRS are irrelevant to eachother.

iPogoZ1 votes

If it isn't fair for autofilled people to face people who main their roles, then guess what, the openly have the option to disable it. What makes it fair right now if I get autofilled against someone who is autofilled, they just got an advantage because they are lucky, also giving the option to leave it in would help in lower populated servers where queue times are already long or for players that are flexible enough to play every role comfortably if it means lowering their queue times.

also In the current ladder there are still players being autofilled and some that aren't, some players are getting auto-filled more often because of the roles they chose, so should they have a different ladder???

Your missing that everyone has the option so no one would have the advantage. it like if I give everyone the option of getting 5 dollars for free, if people chose against it, they aren't at a disadvantage, they just didn't want the money.

Saezio1 votes

At the moment everyone will be autofilled about the same amount of times, for the same role over a large number of games. So that's why it is fair when you face a main as autofilled, because you will be on the opposite side too, abusing someone that is autofilled, so you get to experience both and have to climb while being subjected to both scenarios, like everyone.

What the OP is proposing would make the team with the most "autofill disable" people to a higher chance of winning, which essentially means, paying for an easier match with your time. Just because someone has time to kill shouldn't mean an easier climb. Is that really hard to understand?

People that don't have the time to wait 20 minutes for a game will be at a disadvantage if you examine 100 played games for example.

I've seen some pretty long queue times of 3-4 mins this patch, when generally it's like a min or less. So, no. I support keeping auto fill the way it is. If it were removed or a way around it then those queue times get even higher and I for one want to play, not wait. If someone is filled, they can speak and ask to swap. Most people I've seen are glad to do so

iPogoZ1 votes

I mean having the option makes sense, if you really don't wanna play different roles and are willing to deal with the increased wait times, than that's fine. Unfortunately this system doesn't work as well in servers that already have longer queue times like OCE or most high at high elo, so having the option would increase everyone's queue times not just the player in question.
