IBG is only being abused by Ezreal because he no other viable DPS build. If you were to actually give him some caster items instead of only 1 or 2 he wouldn't be building IBG. IBG is mearly a result of poor balance choices on itemization for AD casters. If there were better choices it would still be best used on tanks.

Iceborn Guantlet actually gimps his damage but gives him a powerful slow. Blue Build is not about the damage, it is purely about the peel.

That doesn't let him get his damage off. Sure he runs away but then what? He throws 1 more Q and dies? You have to think outside of the escape. The rest of his kit is almost entirely poke and his AA range is pretty short for it so he has to spam Q and if he ever wants to be near the front he needs CC or heavy peel. Sitting in the back sniping with Q isn't putting out much DPS in a team fight.
Also Ezreal was made to be a mage not a caster but people figured out that he was really good as an ADC especially back in the day when he was a monster. His entire kit has AP scalings for a reason. And with trinity no longer giving AP it hurts any of his trinity build paths.

Such is the plague of older champions. They're always having existential crises because their kits are usually such a mess in today's game that they can't tell where they need to go. Evelynn suffers from this (A paper thin assassin with a tank's engage and bizarre scaling), as does Kayle (Melee or ranged? Everyone spams E anyway), and a few others who just have awkward build paths for their kits.

Are you refering to his AP Build, or simply the fact that he's an AD Caster?
Personally as an EZ player, ICB is the optimal choice mainly because of the CDR it gives you. I never really considered the Blue build until after ICB was made with better CDR. (And it think Riot decided to focus Ez as a caster ever sense the ADC update.)
That said, I wouldn't say it's ez's only option. Your still going to be auto attacking part of the time, and ER isn't bad if you want a mix of Mana regen and Scaling CDR. (Which Ez really want's) Your could potentially fix his ADC problem forever by allowing his Q to crit. But that would likely cause more balance problems than it solves.
Erockandroll1 votesICB is bonkers on just about anyone right now. You get 500 mana and 20% CDR. (pretty good on just about anyone who uses mana.) along with a passive that gives a little extra damage (in an AoE that SLOWS) and a little armor on the side.
It's a freaking Multi tool for anyone who calls them a Caster. (AD, Bruiser, Even some Burst casters) And because of this, Riot has likely lost sight of ICB's intended purpose. (I don't even know what that is. no one complained about until after the season 6 changes.)

But if he doesn't build IBG he dies in an instant. I think this is more of the problem of his kit needs it to be viable in its current state. It's the only way he can function as a normal ADC.

the problem is this..he is not the best adc at taking down tanks..sure he can slow them down and kite them..but he needs alot of time to kill them (surprisingly he can kill them if he has blade-op dmg)..he is still safe bcs of his E. That item is good on him bcs of 3 reasons 1- utility-and works pretty well with his kit 2-CDR 3- he is a caster and iceborn has sheen which works very well with his q;)

But can he kill a tank without it. No. Can he kite anyone with the mobility creep and damage creep in this game? No. Without you have a really gimped ADC that you might as well have a worse Jhin, Graves, Lucian, or Caitlyn.

Are you asking "if he can kill a tank withouht blade?" ofc not, that's why you build that item Can he kite-ofc he can easy kite with iceborn(spelblade,cdr,slow). You might need to learn the game young one
