Daily reminder that many options in the new client ARE LIES

First off, the chat filter. It keeps working despite being checked out, very simply. I can't say shit. Literally.

As for the "disable animations" and "low spec" checkboxes, the client is still FULL TO THE BRIM with pointless animations.

Why does the game found pop-up need to be animated with weird light movements, instead of just being a static drawing?

Why are the portraits of banned champs being shattered? Why is the "who is picking" indicator moving, instead of insta-switching, between one person and another? Why is there some clockwork constantly rotating underneath?

Why do the summoner spells have to come up progressively, with a window that gets wider over time, instead of instantly?

You can fix the first one by typing "/chatfilter" ingame.

Animations and movements draw attention, even and especially from peripheral vision. There is also a "cool" factor for some animations. One recent in-game example of this is an animation being added to Katarina's shunpo. While the skill itself is a blink, and thus instant, the animation draws your attention to where she move to.

The game found pop-up is probably half attention drawing if you have looked away, half cool factor.

Shattering banned champion portraits is mostly cool factor.

The who is picking animation seems more on the attention drawing end, as it would be easy to miss a relatively small arrow just appearing next to the person picking.

Summoner spells coming up progressively is likely more on the usability end as well. Things appearing instantly is slightly jarring to the eye, and a brief animation can guide your eye from where you clicked to where the new thing on the screen is. If you notice, Windows has done this for a few versions when you minimize and restore windows from the task bar.

Which of these things should and should not remain with a "disable animations" or "low spec" option is another matter that I don't have any good opinions on.
