ADC season 2 vs season 7:

Season 2: Were balanced around doing dps to objectives like towers and baron. Late game they could take down a tank if they focus them for 7+ seconds. However, they could be assassinated very easily if they misposition. They had a very horrible early game and required a support to get them through and peel for them in teamfights with cc.

Season 7: Are now balanced around them being "tank destroyers". As such they are the only class that has "sustained burst damage" which is a completely retarded concept. Right now they can destroy turrets in less than 3 seconds late game and are capable of bursting squishies faster than even assassins can. They now have early games on par or even better than other classes. Their midgame is comparable with mages, and have an insane late game.

Well to be fair a lot has changed in those years. Back in season 2 adc's didnt have access to % damage reduction and supports werent dropping super buffed heals and shields on them along with items doing the same thing. Assassins were good so someone on the enemy team was actually dedicated to killing them and could.

Now we have the support items being godtier and you build them on everything you can because low cost items with powerful actives and decent stats are stupid. Most assassins got their burst dumpstered and any half decent adc can just kill them 1v1. Supports just laugh at them now.

Season 2 ADCs were doing comparable DPS to Season 7's ADCs at four offensive items, though. The difference between then and now is that back then, these ADCs were balanced around having to purchase at least 1 defensive item (GA, Banshee's or QSS - which did not have an upgrade!).

Also, S2 tanks had far superior anti-DPS tools: Randuin's slow had a 20% proc chance, but slowed AS by 35% for 3 seconds. In addition, the active applied this AS slow, as well. Frozen Heart was 20% AS reduction.
