What's up with CDR?

Can we just start at 40% CDR and just remove CDR from items? At this point it just feels like everyone quickly gets to 30-40% anyways. Most support items have it. League of Black Cleaver = 20% right away on many champions. Mages have many CDR options and usually get up to around 20-30%. It almost doesn't even feel like a choice at this point.

And don't even get me started on AD assassins. Holy shit man why is item 3133 part of so many items? Was playing a 3v3 game the other day with Khazix and was struggling to not hit over 40% cdr. Am pretty sure I had 50% most the game without even realizing it. Call me bad but I was buying items quick and didn't realize so many items had CDR on them now. Maybe with lethality changes there no reason for him to buy item 3071 anymore? Either way I felt obligated to not buy items I though I would need or want because I would be over max CDR.

Hell even some of Khazix core builds it looks like you end up with 50% cdr. Just seems so strange.... didn't realize CDR became such a huge deal. Used to be a stat only certain champs went for. Now it's a stat every champ gets in their core builds.

I haven't done the research, but I am willing to bet that with the introduction of more CDR came the lowering of stats such as AD and AP. If such a thing is true, it was done to reduce burst while still allowing for mostly the same DPS.

Also, CDR is a stat that just plain feels nice because it allows one to press buttons more often, which is the entire point of the game.

all the more reason to have a new rune when they come out that converts excess CDR into other things right?

riot is slowly adding CDR to more items.

Then they will raise the CDR cap over time to about 80%

then attack speed items will be buffed

Then we will have the game everyone wanted

They did say URF was the future of this game back when it was first announced, so it looks like it is headed that way.

I can imagine how ridiculous 80% CDR would be, especially on ap mages/assassin's..

Kha jungle usually gets even more. Warriors, Yomuus, BC, already 40% CDR. then with the new duskblade and deaths dance thats 60%.

Mages/AP - item 3165 item 3100 item 3115 item 3152 item 3157 item 3102

Most control mages still usually build - item 3165item 3020 item 3135 item 3089 as their core build. the other two slots could very well be item 3157 and item 3102 to hit the 40% cap, but most people tend to favor the more raw damage of item 3285 or item 3151, same with item 3020 over item 3158 . item 3100 ,item 3152 and item 3115 are niche items that don't synergize as well with most control mages. So if you decide to not build item 3157 and item 3102 together but do decide to take 1 of em with 1 of the damage ones you're left with 30% relying on either scaling CDR runes (which hinder you're lane effectiveness without MR or even AP glyphs) or blue buffs. So in conclusion, it's not quiet as easy to hit 40 as people make it seem, cause even if you do go the 40 CDR build you'll lack strong damage until you reach your Void/Death cap combo. It really does make for actual choices.

AP assassin's are a bit different, not by much though, as if you decided to go the Tanky CDR build on the likes of Fizz Ekko and Kennen you have to build item 3100 item 3020 item 3152 item 3102 item 3157 with either item 3135 or item 3089 and you'll lack strong damage until much later in the game.

Then you have mages such as Swain ,Cassiopeia ,Ryze , and Kassadin who have to rely on Mana items such as item 3003 and item 3027 which then makes it even harder to hit that 40 barrier.

AP Support - item 3504 item 3174 item 2301 /item 3092 item 3107 item 3222

Ya it's supper easy to hit 40 on supports, as it should be as they rely on their abilities for utility.

Tank - item 3001 item 3194 item 3060 item 2303 /item 3401 item 2302 /item 3069 item 3110 item 3025 item 3109 item 3056 item 3800 item 3065 item 3083

Now it would appear to be super easy to hit 40 on tanks, but it kinda depends on what tank, solo lane, support, or jungle and what they need to itemize for the situation. Overall they should hit 40 fairly easy.

AD - item 3812 item 3147 item 1400 /item 1408 /item 1412 item 3508 item 3156 item 3078 item 3142 item 3071

Unless you're a ADC who doesn't build item 3508 it's pretty hard to not hit 40, I kinda think that may be a problem, it's easier for AD champions to right fully hit 40% then a mage while still prioritizing damage. Also AD champs continue to do decent damage when spells/abilities are on CD while Mages don't.

Misc - item 3158

How often do people choose these over almost any other boot?
