Imaqtpie gave some great advice this past weekend

Dukues··134 votes·9,231 views

This is paraphrased but I believe it was Saturday Imaqtpie and Anniebot were streaming and duoing together. It was pretty obvious Anniebot was tilted as they were on a losing streak and the game I watched he was getting wrecked top by a Yasuo. Imaqtpie was being his normal chill self just saying "its w/e man". Qt went on to say "I know how good I am so why would I be mad about being camped or getting beat one game?". And I was so happy when I heard him say this as its really how I started feeling about this game within the last year. Now there is a huge difference being qt is an ex: LCS pro and been challenger for however many seasons meanwhile I am still new to gold elo. But I share this same view with him and it has made playing ranked and this game much more fun and less stressful this season for me.

If you truly deserve a certain rank then why stress about it? You know how good you are and if your correct then you will get there eventually. Focus on yourself and your own mistakes as its all you can control. It does help once you reach your goal so you can confirm what you believe to be true. Like it drove me crazy for years being stuck in silver as I wanted to be a higher rank. But I finally just let go. I stopped getting mad at these random people I was playing with and focused on myself. I chilled the fuck out and holy hell did rank become more fun. Next thing I know I reach my goal rank.

I know high elo players are complaining this season about dynamic queue and I understand it has messed up ranks at higher levels. Even though ranking up alone may be harder than in the past this chill mentality will at least make the experience less stressful and each loss won't feel like a death sentence.

So just chill the fuck out, try your best, and stop being a dick to your teammates. If your smurfing in a lower elo and pissed at your team for playing poorly then that makes no sense. Your in a lower elo game.... obviously people are going to play at a lower skill level than in your actual elo games. If i was playing on an account in lower silver or bronze then I am sure things my teammates did would really bug me. I know for a fact this is true when I play with some of my friends. But these players are that rank for a reason and I have a higher understanding of the game then them. I can't get mad at them as I am the dick being a higher rank player in a lower rank game. It would be like a master/challenger streamer playing in gold/plat/diamond and complaining about their team. The other players in that game are that rank for a reason and you can't get mad at them for playing at the level they know the game. If i was dropped into a diamond level game I am sure my team would rage at me. I would get rocked as my skills and understanding are just not at that level. But when you compare my skills and knowledge to the average league player then I would at least seem alright.

So whatever your rank is be like qt and chill out. Work on your game and if you know your actual skill level why stress out about it? You will get there as long as you keep working toward your goal.

This does not mean treat ranked as normal..... you still have to try your best, just don't rage about how bad your team is when you lose.

The moment my team start losing they tilt harder than a pinball machine getting thrown off a cliff. It's okay though. I'm still having fun... smiling and all that. http://img.thedailywtf.com/images/remy/foreveralone.jpg

Funny enough that one of the best strategy to win is to gank the tilted player on the other side.

I like when players complain about being camped in all chat. Like that is going to stop the enemy from continuing to gank them.

dominusx3 votes

only way to stop the enemy from camping is to 1v2 them and then type . ? . in all chat that's what i do

Cosnirak1 votes

I like complaining about being camped just to entice them to come again because I know they will. I'm going to be prepared and easily survive and waist their time.

As someone probably already behind in lane already due to the previous ganks it's not very useful for me to make plays and try to get ahead in lane now and ensuring they return keeps my focus on being ready for it so I don't get surprised. This also gives my team breathing room and lets my own jungler go destroy other lanes. It's kind of impressive how effective it can be at times.

If the enemy team has a battle bunny riven toplane, gank and camp that motherfucker. 90% chance that they tilt.

ouch.

Its funny watching high elo games because sometimes challenger/master players will make fun of players in diamond. And then twitch chat will spam boosted or w/e. But in reality those players they making fun of would literally run circles around me and my teammates. Idk maybe the dude is trolling maybe not. I have a bad feeling a lot of lower elo players watch the pros and think the game looks so easy since these high elo players make it look easy. But if you look closer you see just how good everyone mechanics in those games are and how fast paced the games are and realize everyone in those games is pretty good compared to a majority of the league population.

Battlecast Sona5 votes

the problem is that high Elo gameplay doesn't LOOK objectively different than your own gameplay, it's all about the decision making. So players who don't understand what's going on are like "psh, I could've totally won that teamfight" not realizing that the reason the team won is because their team was already rotating to the fight/objective ahead of time and preparing to take advantage of it to start a fight, cause people in higher MMR understand how the pace of the game works and are better at predicting enemy movement. Things like map awareness and game sense aren't heavily showcased in streams though, since unless a streamer actually says "I think I'm about to get ganked" and then immediately is there's no real indication that what they did actually saved their life.

I think this is the biggest problem - after a certain point all of League's gameplay is "under the hood" so to speak - it's all about game knowledge and execution, which just looks like normal gameplay to someone who doesn't understand that the reason the 2v2 bottom worked out is because they timed top's TP and saw the jungler on a ward top and decided to go in... They just see QT go in and destroy his bottom lane (for example) and think "oh wow his opponents suck I could totally do that".

basically, lots of streamers joke about "calculated" but there really is a certain amount that IS calculated, and that's really not showcased well by a stream so players get an incorrect view of how easy the games are to win.

Wow.......Its strange....i literally just finished a game that I felt i needed to come make a post about and this was at the top and its so relevant.

1st off.....QT is my boy....watch him every day. But I sometimes dont like when i see him play with AnnieBot because it seems i see him lose more with him than without him lol....but anyway on to my post.

In my game that just ended......our Trundle top was having a hard time vs a Illoai. After his 3rd death our jungler and adc started making comments. Not 1 time did our jungle go top to help him. When they started calling to report him I told our jungler....... "instead of complaining and raging him why dont you go help him? You see him struggling but yet you make no attempt to help him, just rage him."

As the game goes on the jungler and adc just keep making comments....yeah Trundle was feeding but complaining the whole game about it changes nothing.

Then the jungle seemed like he was trying to get me to say something bad about the Trundle.......at one point he even asked me "Zyra, isnt this exhausting?" ......I told him "yes, but constantly complaining about it wont help, Id rather see you typing tips...what you think will help him.....what you think will help the team turn it around."

People need to realize constantly spamming the chat with complaints or ganging up on the person playing badly in no way helps or will make them suddenly play better.

Well, in fact why do people play this game at all ? Let alone the fact it's addictive af, cause they wanna have fun or enjoy their free time. Then, they usually forget their purpose in a desperate try to reach their goal. There is an expression for this, i guess "Ends justify means", or something like that. When one eventually realize this is getting nowhere, played 500 matches and he still didn't rank up or even worse, went down the ladder, he will eventually think of why is it like that and he remembers why he is playing the game in the first place, for fun, not to rage on players who screw up on lane, not on some trolls who gave up on trying, but to have fun ! Then when this happen he changes its attitude and will eventually both have fun and climb up the ladder ! That's the point this particular game actually teaches you something.

Remlap12233 votes

It's the ranked system that causes you to rage in the first place, and bad players are merely secondary. I'd be ok with having my MMR docked from a loss streak after entering Silver II for the third time if it didn't mean I'd have to, once again, enter a between tier promotional series that I already won for the past 3 times.

Battlecast Sona2 votes

I'd just like to say that it's infinitely better than the old system where dropping from gold to silver was as simple as losing a couple games on the cusp of Gold Elo. Leagues and Divisions are sooo much more forgiving than that system.

When isn't Annie bot tilted?

Dukues4 votes

I think Annie bot's biggest problem is tilt. Pretty sure he used to be challenger earlier this year. Looks like he is back in master now pretty sure he dropped out of master a couple of weeks ago.

I think in that Q&A post riot made with Jared - Annie Bot a year or so ago Jared said he once tilted down to like plat 5 or something out of diamond. Tilt is a hell of a drug.

I didn't expand on it in my post but the reason QT said He knows how good he is why be mad about being camped? Is because Jared was asking him how he so chill all the time after being camped top lane and ganked over & over again.

RocketRelm1 votes

I don't watch/know much about AnnieBot, but aside from personality quirks, I can imagine a lot of the tilt is from when people say "oh you play such a shit champion", "we don't have a mid laner", and all of the other flak OTPs get for playing a champion that isn't the FotM. One learns how to deal with it, but when on a losing streak that kind of thing can wear on you.

DREADN0UGHT1 votes

Its always hard being a one-trick in high elo because people know how to counter effectively whether in picking or playing.

So being a one-trick to a non-meta, not so op champion like Annie requires alot of patience and build testing to be effective.

When the bot mid lane goes a collective 2-16 makes you not want to quit ranked??? Ya im good but when u get teams like that. Who would ever want to play. Your even but in teamfights ur always playing behind. 50/50 win rate climbing 6 lp per 50/50 then out of no where u get 2 shit team mates. Seems to me like a deterrence to get people to stop playing.

That's just how the ranking system works. 70% of the player base is roughly divided into 10 divisions = silver & bronze 1-5. If you are the same skill level as players in this range then you are going to be stuck in those ranks. Almost 7/10 of the rank population fits into this category. Ranking up is definitely a grind and takes a lot of perseverance. Rank really is a measure of your skill and perseverance over many ranked games more than anything.

Obviously not everyone wants to put up with this. But if you do really want to reach the next rank then focusing on how bad your teammates are has to stop as that is not something you can control. You can however control what you do each game. This season I have won more close games than I have in past seasons. I used to get really unmotivated when my team was down say 2-12 at the start of a game. And it is frustrating when that happens especially a few games in a row. But the cool thing is whether your bronze or even up to like gold 1-2 (so like 80-85% of the rank population) players don't really know how to end games. So the number of games that are thrown is crazy. So I just stopped focusing on how bad the team was doing, and more on what we could do to win or increase our chances of coming back/winning. And a lot of times one team starts out ahead, loses a couple of fights and the game is close going into mid & late game. Sometimes there are 1 sided stomps and those are no fun when your the team that gets stomped, but just have to shake those games off as it does not happen every game. If you have two games in a row where you gets stomped take a break or maybe even quit for the day because luck is clearly not on your side that day haha.

Why do people stress about losing: because losing = a step backwards losing because of your team being a bunch of twats = a forced step backwards getting camped = half a step backwards as you now depend on your team

dude is already challanger, I doubt he is aiming for 1st spot in NA but when someone is, say silver. And they are aiming for gold for that end skin reward. They want to get there, and want it badly.

Every time they lose its not just wasted 30-60 minutes time, its like wasted double that time since you need to win once to even get back where you used to be. Losing 12-15 games is essentially losing an entire day.

Battlecast Sona2 votes

but tilt can cause you to lose games that you should win, and blaming your teammates and raging is the easiest way to tilt yourself, so why do it? By your own logic the best way to play the game is to chill out since when you're relaxed and focused you're going to be playing your best, and if each loss is a "double" loss you want each game to count. Tilting out in the first 5 minutes because bot lane isn't going hot is not gonna help your chances...

Serika Zero1 votes

I went 7/0/0 as top lane Yasou. My mid was decent, but she got camped by enemy jungler. My bot lane lost 2v2 My jungler was a lee sin that never ganked and somehow managed to get 2/6 by the end of the game.

It doesn't matter if I care or not. It doesn't matter if I tilt or not. It doesn't matter if I flame or not. That game was lost and it was not my fault.

Now, normal people would get frustrated and angry about the above since its literally your team that is dragging you back. Go try to build a house, you have 5 pillars. If 3 of these are shit, and the 4th one is constantly hit by a bulldozer. You can't hold the house on 1 pillar, so it will crumble. So, normal people would rage out. They will need to vent out. Because that's frustrating, because its annoying, because its makes them angry. So they need to let some steam out.

Tbh, today I can't feel anything anymore. So I don't give a shit about losing that game or not. I even click yes when the surrender vote came despite being 7/0/0.

The bottom line of my post is: we are fucking humans generally we feel thing and when we feel annoyed or frustrated, we need to vent out if you want everyone to be like imaqtpie then make us all robots or overly fat The reason that dude doesn't get angry as often is due to genetics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHU_ip_bI9g from 46 minutes to 1 hour and 8 minutes its science proven

However, expecting all humans to have the same behavior without exceptions is absurd. Even if that behavior is: "i shouldn't' care" ps: all your hate and downvotes won't change how gravity works. Science operates on facts for a reason

That's just not true. Playing often with an IRL friend of mine and his friends who are silver-low gold. Usually we win or lose because i just try to have fun on my smurf and not trying to eloboosting them. Ofc the usually bullshit started why i "can't" carry them. Yesterday we easily went on a five games winning streak and it will continue if i want it to. You just need to learn to take control of the game. My last game yesterday has been playin as nasus. Mid flamed, fed and had 80 cs after 25 mins in the game. Lee sin was fairly good but kept arguing with anivia and dying often too. My premade did not so well on bot either. And i just did what u described, played chill, did my game. Opened top and bot inhib all on my own. Took 4 towers. Set up a baron for us for the final push and end. Even lee sin admitted it and said: say thx a lot to nasus anivia. he may be an asshole but you owe him this victory. Even if all your team is feeding you can win in this low elo. It's been proven over and over. And i'm only high plat and not master/challenger shitting on silvers.

Serika Zero1 votes

you can't solo carry this game anymore, even the pros agreed to that much. You can't have a star player in your team and play only around that player.

If you get feed and the other players in your team stay relevant. Then great, you can carry. IF you get feed and the other 4 players in your team feed the shit out of the enemy. You as a 4 items top laner can't face a adc with 4 items, support with 3 items, mid laner with 4 items and jungler with 4 items and expect to come out on top of that.

Give your friends some credit. IF they are holding their own, or if they are able to protect the base later in game, then its cool. But if they constantly run into the enemy team getting caught and dying starting with minute 5 and do that every 2-3 minutes without stopping. You won't be able to solo carry games.

In the Yasou game I mentioned. I tped bot, zoned the enemy bot away and got 1st turret blood for my team (Also extra gold it comes from it for my adc and sup). Went back top, took that turret. Went bot again a bit later, took the second turret there. Went mid, took the second turret there. Meanwhile, team dies like flies every second. I could 1v1 anyone. But there was rarely anyone to 1v1 or 1v2. They kept going to my team mates and they kept getting caught all over the map. I can't be everywhere at the same time. So, I can't protect them all over the map. TP also has a 5 minutes cooldown.

You can't solo carry. You need your team to be able to do something good. Be it wave clear, be it supporting and having you back, be it distracting the enemy while you kill them. But you can't do it alone. If the 4 players in your team suck, and the 4 players in the enemy team are on your level. Sorry dude, you die, you lose.

RocketRelm1 votes

Every time they lose its not just wasted 30-60 minutes time, its like wasted double that time since you need to win once to even get back where you used to be.

Presuming A, that the only thing that matters/is enjoyable is the progress made, which is true for some but not most games (at least it shouldn't be).

More importantly B, that you don't LEARN anything from a lost game. If you never learn anything from a lost game and get better, y'ain't gonna get very far.

Serika Zero1 votes
  1. MOST CERTAINLY losing games is not fun, especially when its not your fault ex: you do homework, dog eats it, conclusion: are you happy now? or sad/frustrated that the entire time you spent writing that was wasted

  2. got to plat (top 10% of the league players) by learning nothing from defeats. Its not top 0.002 like masters, but still better than 90% of the community and im happy with this
