How do people have 300 ping...

Barkley··2 votes·798 views

I have been playing this game since S1 and I can only think of a handful of times my ping has ever been above 200. Its seldom above 100.

I have lived in San Diego, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Washington, Idaho, and stayed in hotels pretty much all across the western half of the United States.

ON HOTEL WI-FI..... mind you....

And I can only think of a handful of times my ping was ever in the 200s. Let alone 300. Let alone 500+ like I sometimes see.

What the hell are you people doing to your poor, poor computers? When I'm at home on my own dedicated, paid connection, my ping is in double digits. Most of the time its below 20.

Where are you?? What are you doing?? Are you on dial-up? Can you not use your phone and your internet at the same time? Do you still receive AOL free trial CDs in the mail?

same.

Where I live there is only one option for internet. It has a cap of 150 GB per month before you are declared throttled, which makes even just using google search a pain. If I am not throttled I cannot play anything because my ping doesn't go lower than 600, if I am throttled I cannot play anything because it is about 4000.

Thus to play league I go to a family member's house who lives in a town with access to decent internet (42 ping normally).

Which is why monopolies suck

Am currently on college-provided in-home wi-fi at SIUE in Edwardsville near St. Louis, and play every day with 15-20 ping. I live in on-campus family housing with my wife and my kiddos. My wife is basically ALWAYS on netflix + her phone. My kids are occasionally on their little YouTube for Kids thingy. All of this happens while I'm playing, and the highest my ping has ever gone is in the mid 30s.

When I was in school, dorm wifi was average 300 ping with jumps up to 2500 to 15k ping

were you on an up-to-date machine? where was this? When was this? Were you doing anything else simultaneously?

I'm trying to figure out wtf people are doing to get ping this high.

I feel like I would have to try to play league of legends from another country or from space, or be playing on an Apple Macintosh SE30 to get ping this high.

It wasn't the computer, I played on the same computer at home and get 30.ping, it was the network traffic. I use a Dell laptop. When at school, I had to use my hp labtop because my Dell doesn't have an Ethernet. I was able to pay again with my Ethernet connected which gave like 20 to 25 ping, but using WiFi was unplayable and gave those pings.

The machine was up to date Grove City Last two years No I wasn't doing anything else

The only times I've ever had issues like that are when the internet shits out, and when I tried to use my wireless headphones with my old laptop...Oh, and possibly in a few hours, if Net Neutrality dies.

oh gtfOutta here with the net neutrality apocalypse bs. you're only revealing how uneducated you are on the subject matter by posting garbage like this.

Its bad. Its very bad. I support net neutrality, and I'm running around throwing it in people's faces too, as much as I can. I'm right there with you saying its a bad idea to get rid of it.

But at least pretend to educate yourself on what it means.

There is not enough information from Dusks statement for one to judge accurately if they are properly educated on the subject matter. There is a similar lack of information in your follow up for one to judge if you are properly educated on the subject matter. Take a moment, read out loud your response, and then get back to me if that's really how you want to represent yourself online.

I used to get nights where I would hover 200 when I was playing on a 2006 $300 laptop + incredibly shitty internet.

I used to play with 300 ping when I was playing on the NA server from Australia to play with American friends, so there's that.

I once lived in an small town on an island, ISP options are all subpar. Random ping spikes daily and windstorms = power outage. I think the most frequent issue is gonna be number of people on a home wifi.
