A forgotten CertainlyT champion

Thresh

Cancer champion no better than Yasuo Zoe Kalista. It surprises me every day why people think Tresh is an acceptable champion when he's the master generalist with a kit that literally does everything well. Maokai got reworked for the same reason, but apparently CT champions are immune to gutting. Constant 10%+ play rate on this cancer which quite often spikes to 20% and even 30%+.

Has high damage for some inconceivable reason, overloaded amount of CC in his kit for any and every situation, can save his ADC butt buddy by blocking an entire lane with his Box or using lantern or flaying the opponent, is tanky thanks to his build path, has pressure in lane just because of his hook and remains ever-relevant throughout the game. In actuality he is overpowered.

Just another champion that shouldn't exist in any fair game.

Has counterplay. Suffers against mage supports due to low MR scaling. The optimal starting item should be relic shield, but it doesnt work on him so he's stuck with ancient coin which doesn't actually mesh with his laning patterns

His got quite the learning curve though. Especially since one is a delayed skillshot, w can be blocked if someone stands on top of it(makes it harder to click) and e has to be aimed right. R you have to anticipate or else you might drop it too late. Leona is overloaded with cc and so is naut.

Leona overloaded? All her kit is capable of is going all-in. Tresh has a billion different ways to utilize his kit. Both Naut and Leona are binary champs.

Yes overloaded. Leo passive damage buff, q stun, e root, ult aoe slow/stun

Naut passive root, q drags, e aoe slow, ult aoe knock up stun.

I think the two things thresh has on them is self disengage and he chooses when to go in. But even then they have their w’s That allow them to all in. Thresh if he shields himself he takes away a chance to save adc or have a gap closer for the jg without using theirs.

Again the learning curve on thresh (because he has to calculate when he can go in) is higher so to pull off everything you are talking about isn’t something someone can do blindly without playing a bunch of games.

Not as cancerous as Blitzcrank

He is also difficult to utilize him to that degree.

True, but that's no justification for having an overloaded kit.

Wouldn’t say overloaded and yeah it kind of is, why would you play mechanically difficult champion if there wasn’t a high pay off?

A "high pay off" does not mean a champion should be allowed to be a generalist. The net result of such a design philosophy is that the champion becomes too desirable at the competitive level, since pros have no trouble with high skill floor champions, and look for generalists (this is, in fact, one of the main reasons why Thresh has had a high pick rate for such a long time). Thresh also is overloaded: putting aside his multiple passives, he has damage, durability, CC, mobility, utility and range, all in one package. he is one of the very few ranged champions out there who is also designed to be tanky, and despite having such a punishing combo, he also has one of the best ally utility moves in the game, i.e. his lantern. He does more than even the average do-everything support, and has a whole bunch of mechanics that are irreducibly strong, such as his displacements and allied dash. He is certainly one of the more interesting supports to play out there, and arguably has a lot more counterplay than the average CertainlyT champion, but he still has some critical design issues that have caused him to dominate the scene at everyone else's expense.
