can we go back to making simple champions again?

lolipopevelynn··7 votes·664 views

We dont need a champion with a hideously overloaded and broken kit that makes it impossible to lane against, especially not TWO of them at once Riot, we really dont. we are already limited with bans, now we have to waste two of those 3 ban slots. Like i get you guys keep firing and hiring new people to do champion balancing and design, i get it, but for the next batch of newbies you hire have them make a nice and simple champion like Annie Teemo Morgana DrMundo simple 1 setence passive thats strong and effective, simple skill shots and abilities that are not college essay long to read, and not stupidly broken or oppressive.

can we do this just for 1 future patch?

3 of these champs are cancer to the game whenever they're dominant though

The new champs aren't really overloaded imo

A support that has shielding, healing, hyper mobility, multiple farms of hard CC, and carry potential. name ONE support that has all of that in one package, just one. dare ya.

hint: one exist and his name is rakkan

I will reply with another example: pantheon is overloaded because he has a targeted stun, low health free crit damage, a huge teleport and lots of damage, free tower and AA blocks, etc. You can make anyone seem overloaded like that.

I'm saying the new champions aren't hyper complicated, and they aren't cancerous to play against. Two out of three of Rakan's dashes need an ally, and any support can carry if done right.

pantheon isnt overloaded. he has clear weaknesses and is a VERY all in type of champ becaushe once he engages on someone he is stuck there..

You're missing the point.

Really i dont get how you are missing how complicated they are when you realize the fact that they need to duo together to fully capitalized on their potential. and yes, they ARE cancerous to play agains. have you seen rakkan in lane yet? the guy engages on you and even if he misses his knock up he dashes right back to safety. he has ZERO risks, literally ZERO risks.

You're still missing the point. I'm talking about the simplicity of the champions, not their gameplay. They don't have a million things they can do, but are still simple enough without hyper-complicated mechanics. That was my original point. All the way two replies back.

As long as it doesn't translate to binary then I'd be ok with simple.

Simple champions usually have less counterplay than other champions Let's not

Here's the thing. If we have simple champs. People wont play them. Take a look at illoai. She is rather simple and you don't see a lot of people play her. If riot doesn't come up with new fast kit champs they will lose the league community. And they are updating champs after new champs to fit in within the meta. So soon enough everyone will have meta kits.

Thats not true though, there are numerous champs in high elo that are simple and are played a lot. Lucian has the highest play rate, next to Ezreal in 4th, then Caitlyn, Ahri, Lulu, Janna, Graves, Karma. All champs that are fairly simple. I would be totally fine with another Bard. We don't need champs that have passives stacked onto passives with hidden moves and 3 actives. We don't need another Thresh or Kalista that was broken on release because their kits were just overloaded as fuck. And Illaoi I'm sure isn't played anymore because people finally learned how to kite her and counter her.

alot of people played her before the nerfs/changes. she is in a good spot now, but main reason she isnt played is because she has alot of hard counters top without any form of CC. basically the same problem as garen. Darius would also have the same problem, but his E saves him so he is played alot AND he has a very simple kit.

I wouldn't want the next champion to be as simplistic as Annie, what I would like though is balanced and sufficiently simple kits EITHER aimed at being generalists with some areas they are weak in Ahri Orianna LeeSin Caitlyn , or Champions that are niche, really good for particular situations or teamcomps but not every game. again, without an overloaded kit. Xayah and Rakan are pretty simple

Any champ released who doesn't have a ton of mobility, utility, and usually a bunch of damage (often % damage) gets dropped almost immediately. The power creep of the game has made simpler, more balanced champs kinda crap. These days EVERYONE is mobile and you have to be absurdly mobile to seem like you're a mobile champion in comparison to the rest of the pack.

I remember when Xin Zhao was a problem because of his freaking gap closer. Now he's a kiteable schmuck that struggles to stick to people and you're not really called "high mobility" unless you're Lee, Zed, Kassadin, Kalista or something equally abusrd.
