@Riot: Is the cripple crowd control from Smite something to consider?
Everyone is complaining about mobility creep and I was wondering if cripple from the MOBA Smite is something we can consider. I don't really like the balance of Smite and its crowd control mechanic, often too binary (very long CC, many CC immunities in god kits and items) but this is a kinda neat idea for counterplay against highly mobile champions.
Cripple is a crowd control that prevent the use of any movement-related abilities (dashes, blinks, etc...) but doesn't slows nor prevents the use of normal abilities. The problem if we want to introduce a new CC is that no champion currently has it and randomly putting new stuff in some champion kits would probably be terrible balance-wise. And in the case cripple is added on a new champion, it will become a very niche mechanic that will probably be either useless or broken, depending on the meta. A solution I found was to put it on an item, becoming available on a lot of champions depending then on their role.
With BMB, I realized Riot was trying a lot of stuff, including new items and some of them are quite cool. I hope some of them will stay after the event ends.
I'll take a look at
, which is obviously an item that has been created in order to facilitate gap-closing against mobile champions and I'm wondering if adding a cripple mechanic, either while the tether is not broken (probably op, tough) or rather when you use the active (with a duration, let's say 2-3s) could be a healthy way to prevent champion from being too elusive or even uncatchable.
The fact that we need an AA before we can apply the CC and the fairly long cooldown seems a good price for negating a (sometimes core) spell on a champion.
**TL;DR: **Make Puppeteer permanent and make it prevent movement abilities on its active part to cut down mobility creep.
