Possible Way To Get More People To Play Support

Make it so that if you are a support you can get a Hextech chest if you get an A or better rather than an S or better. This won't allow people to get any more chests than anyone else because there will still be the four chests per month limit but it will make it a little easier for people to get the chests if they are willing to play a thankless role like support.

I see where you're coming from, and even blizzard does this by rewarding healers and tanks (both which the majority of the player base want nothing to do with, much like the support role here) with bonus loot bags that can have rare loot like mounts and stuff.

but then people will just que as support and go a kill lane

Yeah, that's one downside. I think this would be checked though by the fact that you can only get 4 chests per month and only 1 chest per champion per season.

I don't know what to do to get more people to be the support, but this is definitely not it. Incentivizing people with meta-rewards would attract all the wrong people to the role. The people who think Support Yasuo is a thing in an already overspecialized team, who expect to get as many pentakills as they did mid lane. Then the people who actually do the role and know how it works? They're less likely to get the role.

I think this is indicative of a massively growing problem. You have to go through the shit to be a support these days with how toxic everyone is to the role, how overspecialized everyone insists on being, and how many roles the support ends up fulfilling. This is NOT sustainable in any way shape or form. And going "oh it's just a bronze/silver/gold/platinum issue. Once you get to Diamond, people actually play smart" is not just the dumbest argument in the history of the League, it's counterproductive. It shuns away new players (already a tremendous issue in League in general) from the support role, a role that bears tremendous responsibility. It's like being in the army, and the cadet is expected to captain the supercarrier.

I will love it, but ppl will abuse it.

Extra IP would be better i think, bit still abuseable. But not as much as HexTech Crafting could potentially be.

I doubt people would abuse it. Difference between A and S isn't that much and you can only get 4 chests a month anyway. It would just make it a little easier for supports to get them. And if people trolled with non-supports in the support role they would get reported and lose access to the hextech system.

It's not that players don't want to play support. IMO, players don't play support because they get blamed for everything.

Maybe. I dislike playing support because I always feel underfarmed and underleveled and that if I don't have decent teammates I'm pretty much useless. I can land an amazing Thresh hook or a 4 man Braum ultimate but if there's no follow up from the team not only is the enemy going to walk away but I'll probably die in the process if his team counter engages.

At high elos I feel like support is one of the strongest roles in the game but at low elo supports feel powerless because the rest of the team is so clueless.
