Malzahar Passive Change

Malazahar's Voidlings are strong. Very strong. They are such a hidden power in-lane that you probably won't notice how much of his damage they are early on. However, they become drastically less powerful late game. Why? Because they have a limited duration, are single target, their damage scale off of Bonus AD (what?), and are summoned based on spell casts and lets face it, it's not worth managing your spells late game just to get the Voidling. So I recommend a change to better put the Voidling into Malazhar's kit.

Passive- Summon Voidling

  • Normal attack damage decreased to 19 (+4 per level)
  • Added 0.15/0.2/0.25 AP ratio to Voidling Basic attacks scaling up at Level 1/8/16
  • Voidlings duration removed
  • Voidlings now have a max amount on the fields at once (1/2/3 at Levels 1/6/11)
  • Armor changed to 14 (+1 per level) from 30 at all levels
  • Magic Resist changed to 28 (+2 per level) from 50 at all levels
  • Grow delay increased to 10 seconds from 7 seconds
  • Frenzy delay increased to 20 seconds from 14 seconds
  • Frenzy now adds a cleave to Voidling basic attacks once Malzahar reaches Level 11, dealing 50% damage to enemies around their target

Adding more Voidlings and removing the duration would make them much more noticeable late game. The cleave would also make Malzahar viable in teamfights since his impact on a teamfight ends after his first combo. Thoughts?

Any damage added to Voidlings would probably be cut out of his other spells. I'm open to the idea, but as it stands, I'm fine with separate builds for spell and Voidling damage.

I also thought about fixing Malzahar passive in a more interactive way, even if I appreciate the current iteration , both the harass potential it adds early on and the ability to solo blue later.

However, having Voidlings with no duration limit from the get go is a little too strong, both for laning or jungling.

Because of that, I'd either apply a Syndra-like mechanic that empowers minion based on how many spells you have at max rank, or make the bonus scale even more with level to keep his early Voidlings in check.

For example , Voidlings could lose their duration limit when maxing Malefic vision, or upon reaching level 9/11.

Malzahar is totally fine currently, if it ain't broke don't fix it Mess with champions in a decent spot and you end up with things like Cass's rework

what if... all of the voidlings stats where a % of yours hp, armor, ad, etc. this along with your change would open up new build pathes like bruiser malz!

about just your change: making it so they don't kill themselves would mean giving the enemy more money, i think they're something like 14 g each.

Yeah, this sounds like an unecessary nerf, the kind grandma Rito used to make. Seriously, out of all of the things in Malzahar's kit, the 3 seocnd silence, the percent max health damage, the space aids, and his ultimate that makes every champion cry that can't eat oranges and be k Gangplank or rage so hard not even Ahri's sexyness can stop him Olaf?

I'm not even going into the fact that they can't be controlled, are pretty easily killed way before they grow or frenzy, and the fact that it is really, REALLY clunky. How about instead of nerfing champion that don't need it, you focus on the ones that do?

considering dragon buff 1 and baron buff boost voidling damage, it should be fine as is. 620 AD voidlings (after 7 seconds 410 base) before full build on AD Malzahar can be pretty scary though item 3714 /item 3707 +item 3158 item 3071 item 3042 item 3072 +dragon buff
