Eye of the Herald should go to the killer

The ability to contest and steal buffs is an important aspect of jungle gameplay that allows for dynamic shifts in the flow of the game, depending on the skill of the jungler.

Currently, Eye of the Herald has to be picked up. That made sense when Rift gave a passive buff, so you could better delegate who got the buff, but now that it's an active, why not revert it to the killer?

Rift is an incredibly powerful tool right now, but there's very little room for the jungler to contest it, unlike other buff objectives dragon, baron, red, or blue. This change would emphasize vision control for teams taking Rift, but allow for decent junglers to secure Rift and turn the tides.

I've been in a situation where my jungler stole the rift herald, but my own team was unable to pick up the buff as we were fairly behind. The enemy team was able to sit on the buff and deny it until it despawned. I would make more sense for it to just go to the killed (our jungler) based on other jungling buffs, but I kind of like the fact that it has some counterplay to it. I'm not sure how I would feel about this change.

well sometimes its better for a certain champ on a team to have it and that champ my not be the one who kills it...

No. It literally no longer matters who gets it. It's an active. You take it to lane, push to turret, and drop it. It no longer matters who gets it, so there's no need to delegate who gets it.

So it should go to the killer.

It does matter though.

It should be teamlocked, i am not sure if it is. If it is teamlocked then you can still steal it. And apparently they can just sit in pit wasting time to deny it. So you can contest it both wys.

No, because you are rushing the thing down, not minding who hits it last. And it does matter who gets it.

1: Before you crush it, it grants inhanced recall. Which can be nifty, 2: It takes the place of your ward. Thus the jungle relying on sweeper for successful ganks might not want it (even if they are likely to secure it with a smite) 3: It matters in which lane you place it and when. And as such who carries it to do so.

  1. Nifty, but negligible.
  2. I'm a jungle main who does not use sweeper. Junglers also have the option of tracker if they think wards are necessary.
  3. You mean like the jungler, who has a powerful monster execute, and who can go to any lane freely? I agree.

But these are not reasons why it shouldn't go to the killer.

Do you completely lack the ability to look from other peoples perspective or does your ego just get in the way a bit?

Other peoples perspectives are biased and dumb. I'm looking at it from a jungler's perspective. Nothing more, nothing less.

From a junglers perspective, wouldnt it be good to have a toplaner or support with the item to pressure and draw aggro to the opposite lane while you 4 man Baron or a good Dragon?

Why does it matter if toplaner has it? Just go to top and activate.

And you could never trust a team to pressure two objectives simultaneously in solo queue. That's why I like Mordekaiser jungle. He turns one objective into two.
