If you remove 1 division from every league and add 2 new smaller leagues, we pretty much end in the same spot.
"But climbing is a pain" The new league added in high elo only affects less than 0.5% of the playerbase and the Iron league needs plenty of divisions so even the worst players can experience climbing.
But I'm sure this is not a popular opinion so I'm ready for the mass downvotes!
Galiö1 votesIt's harder to drop a divisions and the more divisions are supposed to be for 'feel goods' primarily for lower elo and separated D5 losers like me from better players. Also will help fix duo irregularities when someone in a low div division can queue with someone In a higher division with even higher MMR. (Silver duo with a gold in plat mmr)

S1 and G5 are only a single division apart, yet the rewards are drastically different. By making less divisions and more ranks, Riot then sets more reward thresholds, essentially meaning you don't have to climb quite as far to get better rewards.
