It can basically make Or break your laning phase and there is NOTHING you can do about other than wait hopelessly. Runes have so much power and precedence now that having the wrong runes is like inting 0/10.
Not to mention the fantastic bugs that come with rune pages not selecting or saving properly :)

Since it takes 30 or more seconds to select them and save them you can go into a game sometimes without them actually selected and saved. I played Ekko with runes suitable for Braum and Teleport because one guy wanted toplane a lot. It was f*cking awful.

Alright, I'll be fair. I've had not enough time to change my runes a few times, and it's really annoying. But you just gotta kinda get into habit of either changing them before game or at the beginning of champ select.
