what are some good darius counters?

i always have trouble dealing with him as im new to picking up top lane, my current champion pool for top are fiora, renekton, poppy and swain

jayce seems like a good counter to him, burst dmg instead of dps so you dont have to go for extended trades, ranged farming, a targeted disengage and speed boost

not really, gnar gets shit on by most top laners hence his awful win rate and jayce is a lane bully so he wins a lot of matchups, but there are champs like urgot and fiora that can win hard against jayce

IMO the way to win against Darius is to not feed him then after laning phase your carries will take care of him...so he may not have any real top strong counters but many champs are more useful after laning phase if Darius is not too fat.

Renekton isn't bad against him, though it is more of a skill match up.

I can personally do ok with him against Vlad, but I have to build full MS or he can run me over and 100 to 0 me. Though the best way to figure out counters to champions, play them.

Pre-rework Swain was such a strong hard counter that I actually felt sorry for the Darius' I laned against in 2014.

Ezreal is the top laner in league of legends from what ive seen

Hes meta 90% of the time and has hit every position

If I remember correctly Garen does pretty good too but that is a very skill based matchup. There is a bug when Darius pulls you as Garen where if you Q immediately then it won’t proc. You have to auto attack first before you Q. I can’t remember off of the top of my head all of the counter tips for garen against dar but I can link you to the Garen Mains Discord server if you have more questions.

actually after conqueror came out darius does really well against garen more than often, true dmg e armor pen and a black cleaver rush ruins garen on him

If you are going against a dar with conq who rushes BC then that person is stupid lol. The damage of Conq is based on the target’s armor and MR. so the lower the target’s resistances are, the lower the damage conversion will be.

Never lost to a Darius as Garen . One of my fav matchups to get.

All you need is a item 3078 item 3142 summoner 14

By level 11 he literally can't touch you due to regen. So you get to easy split.

Just remember rule one of league... Don't build tank vs Darius. You beat Darius by killing Darius.

i know his e hitbox, my main issue with him is his q hitbox is quite a bit larger than the animation and it makes it vey annoying to deal with

and in doing that he ends up getting at least 2-3 free autos on you and bleed stacks, if you continue to fight him after he'll get 5 stacks quickly and a giant dmg boost and a huge dot theres just no winning in that situation

I dont know if I entirely agree with that it really depends on the situation

The way to beat Darius is to deny him his healing.

Think of a situation with fiora he goes to q you hug him and get a passive proc then dash away while the point of skill expression is will he pull you back in or will you Parry it and stun him.

Okay now all jokes aside, I believe that anything that can kite him and also disengage off him is pretty nice, Gnar is pretty good against him but since he's not in the best spot right now he's not as strong as he used to.

The best advice i can think of is survive early by keeping your distance and learning his grab range and CD and try to bait it and when you dodge it you can focus on punishing him since it's on a pretty long CD. build tanky early and remember that he's just as strong as you allow him to be.

just a fyi darius is a hard counter to poppy, has a more then favorable match up vs fiora

darius vs renekton is a skill match up

if you think what these champs have in common? range and kitting abilities

fighting vs darius is you dont want him to get into you cuz he will shred your armor and get stacks of passive and kill you.

he is slow and melee with some ranged abilities

hp/armor counters him too. cc is the best. this is how renekton is still match up, he has some cc and dash abilities, his ult gives him bonus HP and he scales with cdr and ad and can get just as tanky as a darius.

keep in mine based on what darius faces top will determine his summoners and his runes

if he is in melee match up he is going to go ignite and flash with conqueror in most cases

if he is in a ranged match up he is most likely going to go phase rush with ghost and flash so he can close distance and get ahold of you.

as a liss you dont want to want to blow your E cuz this is your escape when he tries to engage, you can W E and be out, your ult can be used to in time before he ults you to prevent death. and zhoyna's gives you the active to prevent death too .

so with liss ult you can ult yourself and heal or ult him to disengage from him all in on you. you have to manage your mana properly cuz if you go oom this will give him a green light.

some of the best ways to learn to play against a champ is to play that champ , go into co op games and try darius a hand ful of times so you can get a feel for his range, damage ,cds etc and that will help you when you face him.

jayce can be ok in the match up vs him, just the meta isnt favoring jayce alot right now. and if jayce dont snowball a lane and get ahead he falls off hard.
