I actually faced one in ranked today, wasn't bad at all. Probably would've been even better if he had an ADC who wasn't Orianna, but oh well. Gaining AP on assists makes him a better support, basically. Reason being 5.18 buffs.
Meep Man2 votesI see him being more of a counter to Diana and other AP Middle Lanes in Worlds. He still gains a lot of assists as Middle Lane and gets to fully make use of all of his kit through his Q farming.

He actually was wasn't he? He was played once as a Support before, immediately after, having his E have its delay added and his Q become a skill shot, etc.

Jefftiffy1 votesThe problem I have had supporting with Veigar is my carry is way too used to supports that go in. Veigar is a peel support he counters ins and turns them around. Also don't pick Veigar with a late game ADC unless they have an ok enough early game to retaliate in an engage. Meaning Veigar can't support: 
. Also don't use Veigar with people who have displacement unless you both play around that.
I had a game we stomped with support Veigar where our Jax thought I was useless but I engaged every fight with a cage and then peel for the carry with raw damage and the cage when it got back up.
Harbinger1951 votesI think there is merit to this post, remember the whole purpose to the worlds patch has been to make it more accessible to vary the champion pool. So lets get real, we are going to see a Darius top. We are prob going to see a 
bot lane and yeah I do not see why we will not see a Veigar support, especially when it comes to the best of 5's. Skar will also show up most likely...basically everybody but Garen is invited XD
