If you were designing Yasuo...

What would your kit look like?

Not saying anything needs changed about Yasuo, because that is a bag of worms Id rather not get into. Just curious what your version of a "Wind powered Samurai" or "Swordsman who has mastered the art of wind techniques" would look like. Would he still be a melee adc? A bruiser? A tank (haha)? Just want to see how you would have done it, and how you would incorporate all his themes.

Sandbox go!

my version of yasuo would probably be something like

one with the wind- yasuo gets increased attack speed from movement speed and ignores unit collision

q-wind blade- i would say would be like an ark he would shoot out with his control over wind damagging and slowing targets w-wind armor- would work similar to a spell shield or shield him for a scaling of his ad that gives him a percentage reduction on incoming damage based on his curent flow passive e - quick step - would be 3 charges of a dash that is a skill shot which would count as an auto if an enemy champion or minion/monster is hit. r- pressure wave- yasuo charges a blast of air tht he throws at an enemy target slashing thier armor by 20% slowing the target and dealing a low amount of true damage lets ssay like 5-15% of an enemy current health based on the amount of stacked flow he has.

al lthat ust on the top of my head to how i would see him asa character but then it feels similar to riven

ps. im assuming this post was more about origional cocepts of it or changed design slightly

my thoughts behind it is more that he is a samurai and they believeed more in honour and the tradition of a 1v1 fight soo make him more of a bruiser/fighter while keeping his ability to crit and build like an adc

I like the ideas!

Idk about the whole kit but it would be cool if he had a wind slash that looks like ezreals ult but wind-looking, and it has very short range and low cooldown. It would just look cool. I got nothin else.

I actually don’t know my full answer off the top of my head. How I would change him would be less of “swordsman who uses the wind” to “samurai who respects, commands and flows with the wind”. I would use less sword based attacks and more wind based AD skills instead.

Combo. Well designed, fluid combo skills would fit that theme.

@thread Tornado Q removed. Wind wall removed. Tornado added as new W. Tornado redirects projectiles, adding skill expression and counterplay (through the use of targeted skills). Ultimate penetration removed. Replaced with 25/50/75% critical damage.

I dont know if I like the W nado redirecting projectiles... sounds to rng to me. Maybe still let the projectiles hit by the nado be destroyed?

Do you think this change would warrant some kind of change to how his ult works as well? since he doesn't have a reliable way to activate it on his own now (no E-Q combo)?

Err... You seem to misunderstand. The W tornado would still knock up, it would just redirect projectiles to either side of it, keeping "w"s place as a defensive tool as well as giving a chance for skill expression.
Think of the tornado i suggested like an omni directional wedge.

... Also his tornado alone is a reliable knock up for his ultimate, and it being a skill on its own would increase the reliability tremendously.

What I mean is, the skill shots shooting off into other directions : I can see this messing with teammates who where trying to dodge said skill shot, and then Yasuo knocked it into them by accident.

That situation seems like a "feelsbad" not really skill expressive kind of scenario.

That would be an expression of skill, though? A good yasuo angles themselves to keep everyone safe. A bad yasuo doesnt angle and kills a team mate (id love it if the kill window had yasuo as an assist...). Also think about how large the tornado is; its as big as jannas tornado. unless it was used point blank, that would mean even a max stacks cho gath could be protected.

It would all really depend on how predictable the "deflection" is. Also, what happens to a projectile that hits dead on?

the chance of that happening is next to nill because of how the game works... But id just have it bias to the right if it did. In practice the hit box of the tornado would probably be 'round', eliminating the issue entirely.

Im just making sure here - but you are aware that the thing that makes yasuo one of the most frustrating champions to play against IS his W and the fact it has no counterplay, right?

Shahamut1 votes

I am aware of people's perception that Yasuo's windwall has no counter play, which is completely false, btw.

I am aware that it is one of his most complained about abilities.

I am aware that there are probably a similar number of complaints about Yasuo's:

  • Passive Shield
  • Passive Critical Strike
  • Low Cooldown Q
  • Windwall
  • "INFINITE" mobility E
  • ULTIMATE SAVES YAS FROM TOWERS!
  • Ultimate armor penetration.

So basically every part of his kit. That is not what is being discussed in this thread. The point of this thread is to share ideas on what your version of Yasuo would be, if you built him from the ground up. Heck, I even brain splurged and came up with something in 5 minutes. XD

Im not looking to debate about anything in current Yasuo's kit. There are enough of those threads. I tire of them. Wanted something different. :)

interesting! Think on it and get back to me?

I'd just remove his W and all good

Shahamut1 votes

gotta replace it with something else though. Any thoughts on that?

a Windwall that cleanse CC from skillshots but still take damage or reduced damage Or a windwall that blocks all damage but still can get him cc'ed if he got hit by them

Too much to ask a single group of unorganized people.

Shahamut1 votes

It would be if it was actually for a purpose other than curiosity. Im not asking people to change Yasuo's kit. Im asking what it would look like if they designed his character from scratch.

Only thing I’d change out is the windwall. Replace it with some tailwind effect that boost ally ms when moving the same direction as him. Kinda like sivir ult, but not as massive and wouldn’t affect minions.

Daddy Ants1 votes

I'd replace Wind Wall with "Wind Shield"

Wind Shield - COOLDOWN: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 COST: 50 FLOW

Yasuo coats himself in a Wind Shield blocking the next enemy ability cast against him.

If Wind Shield blocks a disable effect, half of the flow cost is refunded.

The ability would follow normal Spell Shield rules as in things like Vayne W are not blocked.

Shahamut1 votes

Ok... so let me clarify the post:

This isnt a "Lets complain about Yasuo and how I would change his kit" thread, because changes (like this one) have much larger implications. Just suggesting his flow be used as a resource requires much bigger changes that just saying "he gets his wind shield or his other shield, his choice."

Im wondering what you would create if this champion was yours to design, from the ground up. Forget all his kit and redesign it yourself. Thats what Im looking for.

Here is a random example of what I mean:

Passive: Flow

As Yasuo uses his abilities, he generates flow (additional info in ability descriptions).

When Yasuo reaches max flow, he enters Battle Trance, gaining increased attack speed and armor penetration (based on level). Additionally, his abilities will no longer generate flow for as long as he is in battle trance. Once his flow returns to zero, he exits battle trance and begins building his flow again.

Q: Swift wind Strikes: Q1- Yasuo Thrusts forward, Striking all enemies in a line. Range 350. If combined with his E, the range extends to 450 and deals increased damage. Q2: Yasuo strikes in an arc directly in front of him. Range 300. This strike destroys projectiles. If combined with his E, the attack is radial. Q3: Yasuo Hurls a tornado that knocks minions/small monsters aside and knocks up large monsters/enemy champions (range 600). If combined with E, the tornado travels faster, and stops on the first large monster/enemy champion, persisting for a moment and dealing increased damage. During Battle Trance, these strikes can critically strike and apply on hit effects.

No matter which strike he is using, generate flow for each enemy hit.

W: Wind Shield Passive: Yasuo will passively generate a small amount of flow while moving. Flow gained via movement is temporarily stopped if Yasuo gets immobilized (stunned or rooted) Active: Yasuo grants himself a small shield that decays over 5 seconds. The shield amount scales with how much flow he currently has (it does NOT cost flow). During battle trance, the shield will not decay, and grants Yasuo resistance to slows.

E: Sweeping Blade: Yasuo dashes through an enemy target, dealing a small amount of damage to the target as well as any other enemies he passes through. Enemies damaged by this ability cannot be selected as a target for a short duration. During battle trance, each target damaged by this ability grants a small, stacking movement speed buff.

R: 1000 Cuts: Yasuo teleports to an enemy champion, dealing damage and generating a large amount of flow, this ability can be cast up to 2/3/4 times within a short duration. These attacks can critically strike, deal on hit effects, still generate flow when Yas is in his battle trance.

He would literally suck the opposing champions butt and eat his farts, and gain max %HP permanently. The game would revolve around dodging the wind samurai's Q because the more asses and farts he eats he just grows bigger. Eventually he can release that max HP% life he gained as damage back at the enemy (his new ultimate) while retaining 40% of the max HP he had and must continue building the HP stacks up again.
