Champions who are not played in the LCS = garbage

There's a reason why Riven isn't played in the LCS

and the one time someone had the stupidity audacity to pick her, he got shat on. It's because Riven is garbage and competitive players have came to this conclusion for years.

Champions who are not in the LCS are undertuned; they need to be brought up to the caliber of LCS champions. More than 70% of the roster is not viable competitively.

Buff champions who are not in the LCS, simple as that.

Riven IS trash, with one of the most expierenced playerbase of all champions (166 games on average) and only slightly about 50%. You need to be a semigod to make her work against good enemies, thats a fact. You could play Irelia instead and be tanky and do the same job and have an overall higher winrate with less games practise, balanced ofc.

LCS only picks team comps that deliver reliable amounts of safety for their own team. Who cares if Riven isn't a team comp champion, she's a solo queue nightmare.

Also, if you say that Riven is "garbage" and that she's not worth anything because she's not popular in the LCS then what do you care?

Have her Yorick'd, or have CertainlyT remake her, either or, she doesn't bother your precious LCS, but she's toxic for solo queue, so she deserves nerfs.

riven's been picked 3 or 4 times in LCK this split.

she got 2 pentakills, in 2 different games. that doesn't mean she's OP, it's obviously a team effort, but she's definitely not garbage.

edit: ahh, here you are. 1 game is from june, the other from last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sixbj5GM364

not really an argument, just thought you might like to know 8-)

No...

Most champions played in the LCS are teamfight oriented, and toplaners are usually not the carries. Riven is a carry, and she does not necessarily need a great team to win. So in Solo Que, if you are good enough, you don't need to rely on your team at all, so it's easier and more consistent to climb.

Do you ever read guides or listen to commentators?

Riven is too risky to pick in LCS. She is item reliant. Which means if she is behind, she is useless. And her team fighting is poor because she relies 90% on flash and has to waste her mobility for damage. Good teams wont let Riven near their carries.

I believe we need to buff Katarina by giving her ult another 200% more bonus AD scaling, and further lowering the cooldowns of everything else she has in her kit.

But I think we should nerf Zilean, tired of this freelo champ ruining my games.

A champ not being used by the pros has nothing to do with whether it is good or bad in the hands of normal players, especially in solo queue. The obsession with and insistence on imitating pro play without the corresponding skills and team coordination is such an obnoxious thing in this community.

EU LCS: Picking off-meta champions and losing since 2009.

I 105% agree with you dude, anyone who says Riven is OP OR "overloaded" is a fucking delusional Silver. xD

While Riven is not being played in NA LCS she has been played in other regions such as China and Korea to great effect as a counter pick. If I recall correctly Smeb from the KOO Tigers got a Penta-kill this season against the Jin Air Green Wings. The issue with Riven is that many situation make other options more appealing due to assorted meta reasons, but that is not to say she is not played on the competitive level.

The general strategy of buffing champions not picked in the LCS has several issue on it own, discounting the success or lack of for Riven, because there are champions that come to prominence in other competitive regions (which always prove more successful than NA during international play) before NA picks them up.

Another issue is champion pool depth. If a team picks, lets say for example, the top four to six champions they want for a role to practice, there is an inherent advantage to practicing an overlapping champion pool so your players can 'steal' power picks from other players who are good with them.

To be clear I am not weighing in on whether or not Riven or any other amount of champions are balanced, but rather I am saying there are several inherent flaws in balancing around the LCS.

It's because people like to cry about things that are easily avoidable such as Leblanc Katarina riven vayne etc. when shit like rek sai elise gragas either burn a flash or get a kill and that's why they have more play in competitive because they have low risk with high reward and there is not much available counterplay.

This is a big misconception about the LCS.

There are really strong picks that are not played in the LCS, just as there are some picks that aren't too strong that do get picked.

What determines whether a champion gets played in the LCS is determined more about whether the champion is really good when there is a team that can coordinate around the champion or whether or not the champion can be shut down by focusing the champion down.

Picks like Riven or Malzahar (who is also pretty strong in solo que) don't see LCS play because they have clear weaknesses that can effectively be shut down by a coordinated team comp, but not with the kind of team you may find in solo que.

Do you have these situations that some one say something so stupid , that you don't even want to answer because you know that something even dumber is going to be said later on . Yeah thats one of these threads , but i just could not contain myself from responding , Lats talk facts and some logic here . LCS Players are "professional players" in other words thats their job , meaning they are getting payed based on how good they are , so they are obligated to try and win and be at best form , if the y want to keep being employed . When your JOB is on the LINE you tend to go for the safe and proven ways to the victory , meaning there is no room for random untested picks , in other words if they don't play some champs in LCS games they are not confidant how good they can play it , so they go for the safe pick . Hope that explains it ^^
