Would buffing Gold Quints make support more desirable?

I was looking at them and it appears that you need to play for nearly 20 minutes to get enough gold from your quints alone to be able to buy a single cloth armor, which is about equal to the amount of armor you get immediately from starting armor quints. This seems extremely weak for a quint, and I guess that Riot probably agrees because they made them a quarter of the price that every other quint seems to be. It seems like this is simply an awful quint to get (18 gold every minute for 3 quints) so I am wondering why it's kept so weak. Supports already make the least gold on the team so I am unsure as to why quint has been dumpstered as it seems making it a decent quint would make the position more desirable.

well gold per 10 quints use to be meta...

but with riot lowering the cost of ss , giving trinkets and the passive gold income increase and the gold generation items its not worth any more... people run ap quints or tank /ms quints instead now.

and with all the free damage from masteries mage supports have it easy, regular ap mage page , start ap support item and get tons of gold and bonus damage on proc

No, and I'm very glad that we are away from the gp/5 rune meta.

Being able to use runes that give power, not just money for more wards, is a much better world.

Riot isn't going to be able to make support attractive the way other roles are because players don't recognize the carry power of what a support does. They want the kills, because that's how they view the glory. You can't make the average self-centric human want to play a supportive role.

The best Riot could do is what Blizzard did to get people to play tank and heals. They give out goody bags to people who pick a role that's causing a bottleneck in the system. It works pretty well. Most people still want to be DPS, but you can get more of them to at least use their offspecs, and learn the basics.

Support is already more desirable to play.. people just havnt given it a chance.. The new items are super cheap and effective which was 1 of my issues with support in the past.. If i was behind, i was bored as hell bcuz i had no damn gold, no items, no impact.. now at least i can buy locket and redemption at a cheap cost and still help my team even if i didnt snowball our bot lane.

The problem with supp items right now is that practically any champion can play Locket/Redemption and call themselves supports. Imho, current Locket AND Redemption are horrid designs because they use per level scaling, making your champion himself irrelevant to the item's efficiency. At the very least, Redemption's active needs to be given an AP ratio instead of it's per level scaling.

I'm one who advocates raising the power level AND costs of all support items up to par with other classes, so that champions themselves are given an opportunity to scale up and make their kits relevant through the item's stats, and not only be relevant due to the item actives they have.
