Why are you complaining? This is exactly what you wanted.

Lost R··40 votes·8,260 views

I've been around for over five years now, and in that time, I've come to learn too well about the self-contradictory mindset of the League community. I've also seen Riot concede to the community far more often than they should have, giving you exactly what you want, only for you to suddenly realize you don't want it and throw it back in their faces.

  • Several years ago, you complained that games took too long when they were about thirty minutes on average. So Riot nerfed all of the turrets to the point that you can potentially get your first turret at level 6-7, 5 if you are really good. Not to mention the extreme bursting power of most of the champions now. And yet now you complain that not only are games too short, but that games have a foregone conclusion before you even get in the lobby.

  • People have been clamoring for a support/assassin forever, and an AD support. You get Pyke, who fulfills both of these criteria, and you complain about... well, everything about him.

  • You complained way back when that the support role was utter shit that nobody wanted to play and had no impact in the game. You say the same thing now while at the same time finding the balls to claim that supports have too much impact on the game, even though up till now, you, as the top, mid, jungle, and bot were more than willing to shirk every responsibility that wasn't getting pentakills forever on the support.

This isn't Riot making decisions and ignoring what you want; this has been Riot doing EXACTLY what you have wanted for years, and then some.

It's almost like boards is made up of thousands of different people who have different opinions!

Sure, the community might be inconsistent at times, but they also sometimes have the right idea:

  • Dynamic Queue and removed Solo Queue. This was an incredibly unpopular change from the get-go, and it was forced through anyway. People continued to hate it and Riot eventually reverted it.

  • Galio when they decided to give him super-high AP-scaling % damage on his Q. EVERYONE knew this would be a bad idea, well before it went live, and Riot had to emergency hotfix it in 7.21.

  • Release Zoe. Again, it was obvious that she was going to be a problem, and a lot of people expressed concern about her overloaded kit. She's continued to be a balance problem.

The solution isn't "ignore the community" nor is it "mindlessly do whatever Boards says." As with most things, it's somewhere in the middle.

SpecterVonBaren4 votes

Yes, the board is made up of different people, but everyone who makes one of those threads speaks as if the people that they speak for everyone and that everyone that had a different opinion didn't exist.

And the worst of it is BOTH groups of people, those with opinion A and those with opinion B say Riot is a bunch of incompetent idiots for not listening to them despite neither group being better than the other. You acknowledge that this happens yet you say that Riot always say "The customer is always right" and just follow whoever is yelling at the moment?

Fuck off, 30 min games were fine. 50+ minute games were not. I LOVE that support isnt just a ward bot anymore. The games aren't too short, they're decided too fast. I've been in games where I knew I had lost/won at 10 minutes. There is a reason 15 min ff is in the game. And pyke, yeah, puke is great. Not being able to build health... NOT good. Bad in fact, maybe the worst. His design should have been decent bases, bad/ok scaling with a good base on his ult so he could actually use his fucking control more than once. I dont want a memey assassin support. You dont need to design a champ to be forced to buy items that dont work because they aren't designed to use them.

i wanted Yasuo removed since his release but riot wont listen

Critmaster Garen10 votes

the league community isnt one single hive mind. back when people complained that games were too long, there were already people speaking out against making them shorter. i know i never wanted average game times below 35 minutes, and i already spoke out against cutting them down years ago.

you have to keep in mind, that people who are content with the game usually dont post anywhere on the boards or reddit. only people who are unhappy with the status quo usually ask for change.

Yet both groups complain that Riot doesn't listen to the community.

Riot: we are making tacos!!! group a: woot, tacos! group b: sweet, we love tacos!! Riot: its gonna be breakfast tacos!!! group a: nice! group b: eww Riot: we are gonna add spicy seasoning to it! group a: heck no! group b: ey, we love spices

Riot brings in the tacos

group a & b: hey, this isn't what we wanted Riot: what the hell! we listened to you guys! this is what you wanted!

Although I haven't been around as long as you, I can agree that people complain about every single possible thing, and if they get what they want they still get angry. I've always been wondering why people are mad a champion is strong when they get fed when that's how the game is supposed to be, and overall game balance.

meticoulouswolf5 votes

Yo i love that you brought that up i agree tbh playing support used to be like being in a abusive relationship lol and jg ended up being the son that got all the blame with the support

and i like pyke he is fun as hell and not even hard to deal with

Malix Farwin5 votes

What if, the people complaining enjoyed the game before and never asked for these things. What if, the people who are not complaining are the ones that got what they wanted.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

Yet "Riot never listens to the community!" is the phrase repeated by all...

Yets42402 votes

In this thread, you are the only person I see repeating that phrase.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

It's almost like other threads exist isn't?

Yets42402 votes

If its repeated by all as you claim, why are so many people stating different and even contradictory things, while no one put yourself is claiming what you also purport to be universal?

wait for users who insert random clueless rants about you being wrong , game being dead and shit with no other reasoning.

I love how shook up botlane's meta is. It's going to suck when the assassins come to bot but at least I get to try all sorts of new support/carry combinations.

Well I mean, there's Pyke, but I haven't seen a Zed, Khazix, Leblanc or Yi yet, thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Just earlier today, I had a Yasuo ADC. Our enemy was Fidd/Talon.

LilxPaprika3 votes

there will always be complainers. its likely not the same people too. It says more though when someone like Froggen says "Shut up and play what's strong." And if that is truly the case, doesn't it make sense to have what's strong be to have more diversity in the bot lane.

Marksman players have always been voiceful.

IcyPepper3 votes

We are not a single-minded entity. There's groups of people who want something, and there's groups of people who want another thing. For all you know, the people complaining now aren't the same people who were complaining earlier. If you get what you want, why would you complain? You'd be playing the game instead of posting online.

Not to mention the boards is only a small portion of the whole community. We don't represent everybody.

CppL3 votes

Nobody fucking asked for a 10 minute one side stomps!!!!...

Bob the Toastr3 votes

Really? Who wanted games to be shorter? I haven't seen a single post on the boards (I've been playing since season 4) asking for shorter games. Season 5 was nice with the laser turrets and shieldy turrets.

Well the community can have different mindsets simply because it is a community. So many people at no point will has a singular opinion. However, the outrage against the current meta has seen a larger proportion of the community opine in a similar fashion. That this shit is just broken. With pro players in solo que using non-adc in the bot lane is actual evidence of a dying champion class. Not to mention jungle changes, or bruiser buffs. No community will ever have a cohesive opinion on anything. But i feel like the criticism of the most recent changes comes closest to being a uniform opinion with outrage ranging form low elo bronze players (personal experience with me being low silver) to pro player and streamers. You post makes zero sense. Even if people did ask for these things there is a chance (and a pretty big one i'd say given whats happened recently), of riot implementing these demands in a haphazard and unbalanced manner. Which is exactly what people have been complaining about. Even if i were to agree that riot did this to please the fan base (which i really don't), they've done a shit job. Simple. Therefore the criticism

I have not seen a single person complain that supports have to much of an impact, at one point a support could make his adc un killable, but that was a short while. I don't seem to recall anyone asking for Tanks and Immobile mages to be rendered useless or to have 4+ carries per team, I have had double adc bot with ranged top, assassin mid and an adc in jungle in the past few matches before I uninstalled. Also I personally was never annoyed by half an hour matches I did however hate stalemates that lasted over one hour that resulted in a loss anyways. No one aside from the mentally handicap asked for this current meta.

Raiyza2 votes

I actually don't recall seeing people complaining about games being too long. I've been around since season 1 and the longer the games are, the better the experience (in most cases).

BigFBear2 votes

Also: Moths ago everyone was crying about "TANK META" and that you cant kill them. Now everyone can kill a tank in 3 seconds and oneshot every nontank and its wrong again :D

ive played league since season 3 and basically everything you said is true. and funny fact is i actually started supporting at the end of season 3 . im personally happy supports have an impact over the game compared to what they use to have of just being a ward bot. i also enjoy having an ad assassin support that fits my playstyle of the 2 champions i love to play.. blitz and eve.. tho the world being as it is people are always going to complain over stupid stuff instead of complaining about the right stuff.

like for instance even tho support has the biggest champion pool.. we dont get alot of botlane supports compared to other roles getting new champions.. like we just got pyke.. but before pyke we got rakan.. but before that we got tahm kench in 2015.. i mean bard did come out a little before him.. but basically 1 support every year.. while things like top jungle mid getting 2-3 champions in a year heck at one point mid got 2 midlaners back to back being aurelion sol and taliyah

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_champions

for the champion release dates you have to makesure the release date arrow is pointing up

I've been a support main since the tail end of Season three, once I got tired of people sabotaging games by the hundreds in response to being delegated to support. It gave me a whole new perspective on the game, and I started to take stock of many more elements and mechanics; the tactical and strategic mobilities of champions, their range, crowd control, durability, menaces as individuals and groups, ability to initiate, ability to escape, sustainability, damage consistency, and so on.

Since the Mastery system was introduced, I have stretched the support role I think further than anyone else ever has, trying out different champions in the role, from Vel'Koz to Anivia to Volibear, and once I finish experimenting with Malphite, I plan to move on to someone else. It gives me better insight about the champions and how they can function as a support by disrupting the enemy's formation in ways that the ADC or intervening ally can take advantage of. This is also what led me to coin the term Artillery Support for champions like Zyra, Brand, Vel'Koz and Ziggs.

yeulx2 votes

yep and us supports still have so many odds stacked against us in league and riots been slowly getting rid of them one by one.. hopefully oneday support wont be the hardest role to climb with in lower elos being from bronze-plat

MICROSOFT: -takes a deep breath- We give you: Windows 10!

five minutes later: can you pay us for the damages caused by your indiscretion for pushing a bug-ridden, privacy destroying monstrosity of a trash heap onto the public to act as your beta testers?

give us back windows 7! XD

really, the only reason I updated to 10 from whatever it was before was because 10 would have a longer support phase (which it now turns out is the support is never going to end)

I honestly like windows 10 ive had no problems with it

3TWarrior1 votes

random crashes on its own, random black screen issues, usb disconnect issues, forced background tasks that can crash running applications if memory use exceeds the ram you have(in other words, bad for gaming), required a redesign of almost every antivirus on the market (and SEVERAL of them still cause windows to crash despite being compatible), slow start menu, slow usb write speeds, advertisements among your daily activities, constant disk activity despite nothing really happening,

two separate settings menus for no reason

no link to the control panel (requires a manual search)

apparently it can even skip over installed 32 bit applications in programs and features as if they weren't there

windows update forces unlimited bandwidth usage, so nothing will run while it does

and this list goes on..and on...and on. Those are just the issues I have PERSONALLY experienced

Kitsunes Lust1 votes

lol i dont havve any of those problems on my laptop. so i guess that's just bad luck for you :/

3TWarrior1 votes

you would have experienced the advertisements unless you disabled them (though I don't know about the versions that aren't home)

you can also just google windows 10 problems and probably finds lists

that's the thing, some people never have problems, but then, others have irreparable consequences because microsoft hastily dispatches patches and changes with inadequate bug-testing

some people have been locked out of their computers entirely. Funny thing, so was I for an OFFICIAL FEATURE with that stupid microsoft account login

after that, I make every effort to ensure that I am never logged into that attrocity

Kitsunes Lust1 votes

lol poor you. im just happy i got no problems with that. and im running a crappy $200 computer lol

3TWarrior1 votes

$300 , though the specs don't reach league. Few average laptops would anymore with a 2.8 ghz requirement

Kitsunes Lust1 votes

yeah. planning to get a MSI gaming laptop soon.

3TWarrior1 votes

if you do, remember to check the efficiency of its cooling if possible

Kitsunes Lust1 votes

it looks like the cooling fan is generally cooler boost series. MSI laptops are speciically designed for hardcore gaming so...yeah

3TWarrior2 votes

pfft XD if you want to just have a laugh, I know a stupid little game you can test it out on. It puts even gaming computers through their paces and it's written in ASCII

it's called Dwarf Fortress, though I got so little out of it, I don't really know much of what it has to offer (controls are weird)

Kitsunes Lust1 votes

XD lol i never heard of that game. but i can understand it due to the fact of shit ton of charaacter sprite etc spawning at massive rates? idk lol XD all i care about is if it can play league and other games like fate/extella smoothly without much frame lag or whatever :/

3TWarrior1 votes

My point of it was, if it can play that resource hog cleanly, it should have no trouble with league

if you like first person shooters, try one called Blacklight Retribution (at least I hope they're still alive as a game)

Kitsunes Lust1 votes

oh god im terrible with first person shooters. im more so into racing and 3d hack n slash/beat em up games (if it has magic or animal human hybrids in it im in!) such as honkai impact 3rd (android), asuras wrath, or Fate/Extella for example.
