I'm Sorry For These Players, Riot

Looking at all these posts from people drilling you for answers and expectations is simply embarrassing. These are experimental changes that are easily adjustable and haven't even seen appropriate testing yet, and still people are calling for heads and complaining left and right about how terrible these changes are. I cannot believe how hard Riot employees are being drilled for answers and calling out "how could you do this?!?!?!" without actually seeing it's effects.

All these posts asking for certain items not to be released, or demanding changes to item stats or costs are foolish. Of course there are gonna be balance issues and needed changes, this is your first public attempt at the MYMU and there will be mistakes. I trust you guys to get on top of them as they appear and add/change/remove items as you see fit to maintain balance in league.

It's simply too early to be demanding such things as the league community, and so I'm sorry that you have had to read all these players that think they know best without willing to give it a shot.

I wanted to let you know that I, and a great majority of players, are willing to see how these changes effect the game on the PBE before calling for adjustments or getting angry. There is plenty of time for changes to the update if there is anything that needs to be tweaked.

(I would also like to test these changes on the PBE but rip my application)

I feel like most of the these people just type before they can really sit down and form a thinking bubble.

This circle jerk has been going on for so long. Honestly, if they bother to look at things objectively, these changes and most of the new things introduced, are not as half as bad as they claim. Those players have no idea at the moment of what these changes are really going to do, and yet they talked like they've seen everything and made me go like wtf.

I honestly have grown tired of the circle jerk mentality the boards have grown such a reputation for. Bottom line is, players have no way of knowing how these items will interact with the game and to start raising hell over it is immature and counter-productive. Let them see testing and get adjusted as necessary but before hand, fricken praise Riot for working so hard as to update and entire class of champions/items. That shiz isn't easy

Yes and I'll bet if Riot kept the game 6 seasons same old same old as say S2 or S3, they'll pick on why the game hasn't changed much, etc.

This is Gameplay Board is basically a Yelp review website now. There's always things for people to pick on and condemn it to the ground. It's just a place for certain people to release stress and anger rather than forming a constructive criticism that ACTUALLY respects the side they're oppose against. To me, they're nothing less than cyber bullies, and the sad thing is they won't realize that.

I'm very grateful to see posts like yours. It's like a towel to wipe off the blood on wounded area.

It's amazing how players can't form a constructive opinion without trashing other opinions. It creates a toxic environment where debates/conversations turn into hostile arguments :/

Thanks for enjoying my posts, I try to stick to moral and logical standpoints with as minimum salt as possible ^-^

On a side note: Are there any board punishments for players that post particularly hostile things or has this basically become a place where you can say everything that would usually get you banned if using the ig chat?

It's because people are scared since Riot has oftentimes in the past bulled ahead with decision that the community does not want (DESPITE THEM SAYING THAT THE TESTINGS WERE EXPERIMENTAL). It's a gut reaction fromt the players so to speak

Edit: That being said, I do agree with you when it comes to the fact that the boards does tend to overreact to change

The thing about changes on the PBE is that it is more likely for them to be tweaked instead of scrapped. They mostly use internal testing to determine the initial changes.

Slythion2 votes

And I see no problem with allowing Riot the ability to test ig affects and seeing their inevitable tweaks to this update before getting into a frenzy that many vocal players have

FantasySniper3 votes

You don't seem to understand. The players are roaring that these changes in inherently unhealthy. The fact that it's on the PBE usually means that it won't go back to the drawing board, where it went wrong in the first place.

Slythion2 votes

Many Rioters have openly admitted that these changes are unsure and are susceptible to changes. They simply don't know if some items will break champions more than helping the ones that need it, hence why the PBE is there for testing

FantasySniper2 votes

Again, if something ends up in the PBE it usually doesn't get changed. Tweaked? Yeah. But actually changed, no.

I know these plans are tentative and not really that bad, but if Riot's made it public already, we just have to hope for the best if we want to see something completely modified, let alone scrapped. Usually they'll push it out anyways, even if they know (and they know) it'll be broken for a patch or 2 or more. Examples: Devourer, Release Sona, Feral Flare, Duskblade, Release Tahm, Ryze Rework, Fiora Rework, Guinsoo's Rageblade, all of the fucking mastery changes

Slythion2 votes

Most of those examples aren't that great...

Devourer wasn't incredibly broken on patch and imo still isn't broken Duskblade isn't broken at all Tahm was a new champion and new champs are almost always op on release (how else are they supposed to get attention/popularity?) Ryze Rework was only broken because people didn't understand it yet Fiora hasn't been broken (or at least more broken than old Fiora) until she could build tanky Rageblade in itself isn't broken except for a select few champions that abuse it. Keystone Masteries haven't been broken sense they tweaked it so Thunderlords wasn't the only viable option

As for the fear of things only being tweaked slightly on the PBE, it's pointless to have this discussion simply because we can't know how these changes will interact with the game yet. Why raise hell over something we have no knowledge over and can be changed if there's something to complain about?

FantasySniper1 votes

Devourer made any attack speed jungler broken. Then Sated did the exact same thing. Duskblade broke Zed. They literally just buffed him before they put it out, too. Talon also saw an unnecessary increase in win-rate even though he was already positive. Ryze Rework was broken OP, not broken UP. They nerfed him to the ground over 6 whole patches because they had no idea how to fix his numbers, and he's still left in gutter with no improvement over his previous situation. Fiora was broken. She's only been getting nerfed since her Rework. Rageblade is broken. Every champ that uses it except for Irelia has gotten nerfs because of it. There is no "exploitation" or "abuse" here, just a good old fashioned broken item that'll leave all those nerfed champs in the gutter once it gets its just dues. Thunderlords is still picked almost 40% of the time. Then masteries like Wanderer, Perseverance, and Runic Affinity are still left in the dust. Hell, Piercing Thoughts is used less often than Deathfire Touch.

It's quite simple to make an educated guess without even seeing it in-game. Of course you can't really know without testing it. They test it internally. Then it goes on the PBE. Yet knowing and acting upon that knowledge are distinctions that Riot only makes more and more distinct every time they fail to act.

I just want to point to that the same system you claim will tweak or fix these awful testing items also gave a green light too:

Ragebalde-devourer Moredkaiser's Re work Old Warlords Bloodlust and Yasuo and Graves....

Slythion1 votes

We aren't talking about specific champion/item pairings we are talking about an entire class of champions/items that are being changed.

To point out specifics like this as an excuse to start raising hell before any problems have actually occurred seems counter-productive to me, seeing as people can only complain about guesses of what might be broken or not.

Since when has Mordekaiser Rework been op? Or yasuo (after keystone masteries) for that matter?

ScurvyNave1 votes

Morde's update broke the champion as in it ruined him

Yasuo with Warlord's bloodlust in preaseon? Healing on crits? If you don't remember thats okay it might be post dramatic stress disorder.

I'm concerned because they had said before the Mage update wouldn't be too big on item changes as compered to the ADC update but now I see a whole slough of item nerfs, gimmicky actives, and more resource restraints being added to the class that already suffered from it the most. I'm not worried about stuff being broken as much as my favourite class and some of my favourite champions to play being off worse than they were before and to be fair, this season has sucked for mages big time.

Slythion1 votes

The way I see it, the item "nerfs" aren't nerfs at all and simply changing the focus of the class. They are taking away flat AP for more cdr and actives/utility (which will hurt burst mages like Leblanc but I'm confident that that will be adjusted so as to not nerf that subclass of mages indirectly. Rioters have already agreed that it is a possible issue they are aware of).

The same thing happened for ADC's in the preseason where they traded armour pen for more crit-heavy builds

ScurvyNave1 votes

And what about poke mages? What about lanning against resourceless or energy using abominations like Zed or Yas? What about seige-ing? The enemy can just wait till your mage is low on mana and then it's a curb stomp. Taking away mana regen had better have some damn good returns or else mages are going to suffer more than they already have.

Slythion1 votes

Do you not see those as things that can be easily viewed in testing during the PBE? Why are these issues allowing players to curse out Riot and rage at them instead of praising them for reworking an entire class of champions and items. Give them time to test this rework 1 and give them time to make changes before raging at them. They aren't going to get it right the first time before any testing

ScurvyNave1 votes

They've failed to impress me before with the previous class updates. Forgive me for being sceptical. The PBE has this false reputation for being a testing ground when most often stuff that goes to the PBE often goes live. They're lowering Mage uptime and the time they can be on the map thus hurting their wave clear, poke and overall damage making mid lane AD's have an easier time.

Slythion1 votes

You can be a skeptic all you want, everyone knows there will be issues with this first uneditted update. The problem is that many players are pretending they know what's best and calling out Riot/cursing out Rioters for things they expect items to do without even giving them time to test/tweak it in the slightest. This kind of behavior is what causes a company to create a wall between itself and it's playerbase

ScurvyNave1 votes

Fair enough though I'd point out that wall has existed for a long time. I'll give them a chance but if Vel'koz gets ruined I'm going to grab my nearest torch and pitchfork. i'm sick of season 6's mad scientist level of unbalance in general.

Slythion1 votes

I do hope that Velkoz is given the appropriate love, he's a favorite of mine :3

I just wish players would stop and understand the situation before charging in all gun-hoe about murdering whichever Rioter was responsible for the update or some drastic thing yaknow? It's embarrassing and counter-productive and represents a mentality the boards have had for quite awhile now :/

ScurvyNave1 votes

I agree the situation is not ideal but blame goes both ways. Many players feel that, rightly so, that riot has run rough-shod over their opinions in the past and for mage mains like myself, we've been promised that this update is the band-aid to solve several of the problems this radical season has given us.

To see such .....let's say chaotic changes with very little context, explanation or cohesion makes fear become reality until the Red's confirm what is and what isn't.

In short we have to wait till we know what's going on to accurately complain/critique but often by the time we do it's too late to do anything.
