Season 7 Changes

  • Revert DQ (not by just giving them a different ladder, I just don't want to play with/against premades, it ruins ranked's integrity)

  • Complete rework of runes or just remove them altogether

  • give some love to tanks (not juggernauts/brawlers)

  • keystone diversity, tank/support keystone buffs and additions

  • more support items/support item buffs

  • shift focus away from damage creep, I like longer fights not "delete everything in <5 seconds" fights

  • less invincibility abilities being added in the game (I'm not saying no invincibility, but there's definitely been a pretty large spike in invincibility in the game this season...just slow it down a bit please)

  • give some love to the boards, it's been awhile since it's gotten some attention.

    • Red Tracker is usually overflowed with responses from "Help & Support" (good work over there btw Reds, you're always a help)
    • A clear "Report a Player" function so that the post-game lobby isn't the only place
    • A "search for a player" function would be nice imo
    • etc
  • much more company/playerbase interactions, Riot seems to have distanced themselves this season and made a lot of independent decisions

  • Update the new-player experience. There's more smurfs and boosters than actual new players (exaggeration obviously) and the bots simply don't prepare you well enough for pvp, especially since they cut the xp needed to level 30 by half, giving players the false impression that they're ready for ranked

  • Set requirements for ranked beyond level 30 and 6 champs or whatever it is. You must be a mastery level 3+ to play a champ in ranked. 1-week ban for champions in ranked that have recently been reworked or simply added to the game. Simple stuff for that to make ranked seem serious, although DQ kinda shat on that reputation xD

  • more champ select interactions. Allow a /votekick option for the team to kick an obvious troll in champ select. I hate being punished for having to dodge when some premade has an adc lux + leona bot (happened to me recently) and wants to troll all game. I shouldn't be punished for not wanting to deal with that.

  • Replay System

  • Fix the "death recap" program (it's no secret that it hasn't worked in ages)

  • Give Yellow Trinket an upgrade tier

  • Massive improvement for AP bruiser itemization

  • A more interesting jungle experience. One where you aren't just farming repeatedly with your only entertainment coming from ganks. Obviously not an easy goal, but man it'd be fun to have. It would make junglers with bad early clears have a rough time though as my preference would basically allow invades/counter jungling to be more common

  • Pink Ward Slot

  • Mandatory Smite for jungle position

  • "but what if you want to trade roles with someone?" (next idea)

  • Role Trade function in Champ Select

  • More IP gain per win. There are simply too many champions, tokens, and runes for you to reasonably expect new players to make any progress

  • A focus towards balancing/reworking champions instead of new champions. Yes, the new champions have been pretty cool and all have unique parts of their kit that changed the game, but (and this is my opinion, I completely understand if others don't share this specific view) I feel like there is an abundance of champions that haven't been touched or simply they were left gutted for far too long. Sure, they may have mentioned that they were planning on putting some attention to these guys, but I feel like it's taking too long. Examples: Aatrox Heimerdinger Kalista Maokai Nunu Rammus Urgot Varus Zilean

  • Sandbox mode for custom games

  • LORE: please put some work into it. A lot of things are incredibly vague (Aatrox), and Summoners aren't even cannon anymore, which left a large scale of things completely out of whack

Edit:

  • limited allowed dodges per week (or something along those lines)

  • recommend needed roles for a team comp

  • each player has a ban (this may occur in S7 with 10 bans though)

  • give a warning/notification before you ban a teammate's intended champion

  • possibly implement mics for in game

  • give clear scaling punishments, and notify the player what the next punishment will be for a repeated offense (this applies to dodgers/afkers primarily)

  • Players drop tiers of punishment after "X" amount of games of no offenses

  • Extend the remake system to 5mins, not 3. Also, sometimes it doesn't recognize an afk or won't give you the option if they connect and then dc'c, even if it's only a 30 seconds into the game.

  • players muted ig remain muted in post-game chat...this should've happened awhile ago

  • more and/or clearly report categories

  • Make the Honor System Relevant and also, add more honor categories. Add rewards (premades honoring their own members are excluded of course) for being honored!

I'm sure there is plenty of more stuff, but these are the things that I've thought of. Obviously not everyone will agree with everything that I've stated, but hopefully you liked my list as a whole

Can I turn this into Bingo? I'll write it up on a sheet, and we'll see what we get this Preseason.

lol, realistically speaking, I don't think we'll get enough for anyone to actually win :^)

Imma do it anyway, who knows? Something might pop up!

That is actually a pretty neat idea. I wonder if Riot could actualy do something like that on the boards and the winner gets a skin or something.

Removing runes = nerf to whoever took cdr runes

Reverting masteries seems better to me

TheSingularity5 votes

This^^^ Despite better itemization manaless champs still rely on runes to hit 40% as an armour or mr item isn't always appropriate.

That and there are many champs who rely on/synergise with ms quints to do their thing (especially in the jungle) eg: udyr, hec, skarner, naut, a sol ect. Especially after the removal of the permanent 1.5% ms mastery which bought to max bonus to 6% in combat and out

Slythion1 votes

Indeed, I can see how it would become a balancing nightmare if the runes were disabled. Maybe if they weren't such an IP wasteland trap for new players with the sub-tier runes and less confusing it'd be a better aspect to league? I just felt like they needed a change

50000000000000001 votes

I'd personally prefer some sort of upgrade to individual champions instead of the current mastery system. For example, instead of current keystone, Brand may be able to choose between longer passive duration or bigger detonation radius. It optimizes the champion based on matchup, and counterplay is still essentially the same. And it'll be much easier to balance, since nobody will be able to abuse keystones.

Season 6 for me personally is the worst one yet, at one point i quit league for 4 months came back just to get the diamond border and that`s it. I'f they don't fix the game by season 7 i'm afraid i'm quitting for good next season

were next to each other. And c'mon Kled's invulnerability is barely noticeable.

Also, fights last up to 5 seconds now? Always fun to see how much you people will back up. That's still too little ofc, the average LoL player's reaction time is about that amount! And I'd just like to point out that if fights last too long, there will be no reason to commit to them and even SoloQ will turn into farming simulator. Which you all want I suppose.

Add rewards for being honored!

The whole point of any form of "honor" is that it's its own reward.

LORE: please put some work into it.

Eyes twitching What-do-you-think-all-the-events-and-massive-info-on-champ-release-or-rework-are?

recommend needed roles for a team comp

Terrible idea, absolutely terrible. The amount of people who say "we need (a) [...]" ruin enough games already. Play what you know, not what some people think is meta.

Pink Ward Slot Give Yellow Trinket an upgrade tier

Buff to non-supports? Even more ward spam? How about no?

More IP gain per win. There are simply too many champions, tokens, and runes for you to reasonably expect new players to make any progress

Or they can learn how to make due with non-meta stuff instead of following in line. There are enough players with useless IP already.

One where you aren't just farming repeatedly with your only entertainment coming from ganks.

Don't play League. Cuz that's what that is. You farm and then try to use that to kill your opponent(s) or take objectives.

Massive improvement for AP bruiser itemization

Such as?

I hate being punished for having to dodge when some premade has an adc lux + leona bot (happened to me recently) and wants to troll all game.

That's a root/stunlock lane. Could work. You're clearly a big fan of strictly following the meta and only using LCS picks/comps. That doesn't mean everyone should. I like playing Kha'zix top.

I feel like there is an abundance of champions that haven't been touched or simply they were left gutted for far too long.

Yeah, the most recent rework was only a month ago. Stop twiddling your thumbs, Rito! (Zilean already got his)

Simple stuff for that to make ranked seem serious, although DQ kinda shat on that reputation xD

Yeah lol, teamwork. Hah. Ranked is much better with 10 idiots running around like headless chickens.

You must be a mastery level 3+ to play a champ in ranked.

Hey man, can you trade me Thresh? Nope. Don't play enough support, sry.

and the bots simply don't prepare you well enough for pvp

Challenger level players will tell you that going against bots is the best way to hone your mechanics. Fun anecdote btw, I played nothing but intermediate bots for a few levels because in my first pvp game, I laned 1v2 as Fiddle ... and easily held my own while my duo mid were flaming each other.

A clear "Report a Player" function so that the post-game lobby isn't the only place

It's called "Send a Ticket".

much more company/playerbase interactions, Riot seems to have distanced themselves this season and made a lot of independent decisions

You see "Ask Riot" every time you log on. And some major Rioter responds to some niche issue at least once a week. Granted they don't always listen to you because things like "damage creep" are backed up by absolutely nothing and I'm very happy they don't.

Slythion3 votes

you have quite a...rude and intolerant attitude to players who have a different opinion on you. That's quite unfortunate :/

As for the:

  • Longer teamfights but less invincibility, I thought it'd be more self-explanatory but meh. Invincibility is not the only way to extend a teamfight, nor is it (imo) healthy for the game. It's alright to have some invincibility in the game, but with the addition of: Kindred + Taric who both provide team-wide invincibility, all I wanted was them to slow their roll with rate at which they add invincibility to the game is all. It's not like I wanted to ban invincibility, but I also don't want it to become the only option that Riot uses to counter the growing damage creep in the game.

  • Honor System, it seems incredibly difficult to obtain a ribbon (I haven't seen one in months, and I haven't received one in over a year) even if you get honored by both teammates and opponents nearly every game. I haven't seen any mention about it in awhile from Riot so it seems like it's just become a forgotten project that will be revised eventually

  • Lore, there are multiple champions that have a lore that simply doesn't make sense or are incredibly vague. I'm pretty sure I covered this already but I'll use some examples again: Aatrox has an incredibly vague lore that barely matches his kit Fiddlesticks shouldn't even exist in the Rift (along with other champions such as Nocturne) because "Summoners" are no longer cannon. So sure, an occasionally an individual champion's lore will be revised to be cooler or more updated, but there is still a lot of work to be done in the Lore department.

  • Recommended Classes for Team, if you get tilted over someone asking for a healer or adc...that's really your own issue and I don't think it's fair for you to expect everyone to keep their non-toxic requests to themselves to comfort you.

  • Wards, that is simply our difference in opinion. It feels weird to be forced lose vision in the late game when you reach full build and I personally prefer to be able to use ward strategies instead of constantly being limited. Again, it's a difference in opinion and I will respect yours as (hopefully) you will respect mine

  • I don't think I should be forced to deal with 2 trolls (especially if they state they are trolling in champ select) and be forced to not have an adc or whatever other disadvatage someone wanted to put the team behind for the sake of their own enjoyment. Ranked is supposed to be taken seriously, right? Since when did someone's want to go some random champion + build (hello AP Renekton support!) become more important than the enjoyment of the combined other 4 players on the team?

  • Reworks: I was simply pointing out that they still had a long way to go and some champions have been waiting for awhile, in the meantime I'm sure Ryze will get another couple reworks

  • Ranked was much better when it was about individual skill while real teamwork had it's own, perfectly stable and working ladder to play on. I didn't realize that having partial-teams was allowed in other games, or that they were allowed to have that obvious advantage over solo players for the sake of "healthy" gameplay.

  • Ranked Champion Requirements: Yep, a perfectly valid argument that I don't have the answer to. It'd still be nice to prevent 1st time Azir players in ranked and stuff

  • I played bots up until level 25ish and while it works, it isn't as good as it could be imo

  • Have you been to the support page recently? There is no "report a player" option immediately available...

  • They have made many decisions without asking the playerbase this season including: ARURF, DQ, Shen/Kog reworks, etc. They've gotten better near the end of this season, but early season 6 was full of independent decision making and silence from Riot which I hope they never resort to again.

So there are my responses, I'd appreciate it that if you respond back, you remain mature and semi-respectable as no one likes talking to others that are inherently negative. This is a discussion after all, not a "my way is better than your way and I hate you for having a different opinion" argument (hopefully)

We actually have info on some of these.

  • Revert DQ (not by just giving them a different ladder, I just don't want to play with/against premades, it ruins ranked's integrity)

Supposedly they're reworking it so DQ only exists up to gold or so, I think? We'll see.

  • Complete rework of runes or just remove them altogether

Slated for mid-2017 or so.

  • give some love to tanks (not juggernauts/brawlers)

Tanks are one of the classes up for reworks after assassins, along with divers and such.

  • keystone diversity, tank/support keystone buffs and additions

Not sure why you need this. Watch Worlds and you'll see almost every champion/character/lane is taking a different keystone.

  • more support items/support item buffs

Supports should be up for it again.

  • shift focus away from damage creep, I like longer fights not "delete everything in <5 seconds" fights

This is a personal thing. I personally prefer more damage to punish mistakes.

  • less invincibility abilities being added in the game (I'm not saying no invincibility, but there's definitely been a pretty large spike in invincibility in the game this season...just slow it down a bit please)

So far we've gotten less this year.

  • give some love to the boards, it's been awhile since it's gotten some attention.

Yes please.

- Red Tracker is usually overflowed with responses from "Help & Support" (good work over there btw Reds, you're always a help)

This should be changed as well.

- A clear "Report a Player" function so that the post-game lobby isn't the only place
- A "search for a player" function would be nice imo
- etc

This would be good but I worry about report spamn.

  • much more company/playerbase interactions, Riot seems to have distanced themselves this season and made a lot of independent decisions

As much as we'd like to joke, Riot's actually extremely in-touch with their playerbase. Especially when you compare it to a company like Valve or Blizzard (pre-Overwatch). I'm not sure how much more they could do.

  • Update the new-player experience. There's more smurfs and boosters than actual new players (exaggeration obviously) and the bots simply don't prepare you well enough for pvp, especially since they cut the xp needed to level 30 by half, giving players the false impression that they're ready for ranked

This would be nice, but there is also an updated site for it.

Ban for new champs? Yes. Requiring Mastery to play them? No. Removing free weeks would be good.

Yes, although we keep seeing replay info on the PBE.

  • Give Yellow Trinket an upgrade tier

This would be nice, yes.

  • Massive improvement for AP bruiser itemization

I don't think they should do this until they fix AP Bruisers as a class. They need a lot more work than simple item changes.

Completely disagree. This is already quite common in pro play. The problem is the jungle is an insanely difficult thing to grasp so you're not going to be good enough or have enough knowledge to perform these sort of things. What I will say is Riot SHOULD improve the disparity between fast clears and slow clears. Fuckin' Nid.

  • Pink Ward Slot
  • Mandatory Smite for jungle position
  • "but what if you want to trade roles with someone?" (next idea)
  • Role Trade function in Champ Select

Yep.

  • More IP gain per win. There are simply too many champions, tokens, and runes for you to reasonably expect new players to make any progress

Side note: Bonuses based on playing with others, double weekends or having a hextech chest for the FGM.

This has already happened. We moved from 20-30 new champs a year in Seasons 1-3 to around 4-5. They're also different teams so this is a moot point. (It's like saying the art team should stop focusing on splash arts and start improving the code)

  • Sandbox mode for custom games

As much as people like to say, this is hardly a priority for anyone but pros. Maybe in the end but this is so far on the backburner comparative to far more problematic things right away.

  • LORE: please put some work into it. A lot of things are incredibly vague (Aatrox), and Summoners aren't even cannon anymore, which left a large scale of things completely out of whack

???? Where have you been? That's been happening for the past two years and so far the quality has been astronomically improved comparative to the old lore. There are gaps but we've hit the point where around half-or-more champions have working lore comparative to those that don't.

bigambrus2 votes

I don't think we'll see death recap on a working state any time soon, the game engine is spaghetti.

I think the champion mastery rank 3 is a little but too much, maybe played a champ at least 3 times or something.

I can only see the votekick option to be abused by premades or people who just don't want to see an unconventional champion played.

KorZod2 votes

I think the game itself (not your UI/usability ideas, which I like) is actually in a good place, but I agree that Tanks need to feel better somehow. Not "tanks" Like a Hec that rushes Warrior and Trinity, Tanks like Mao who gets 6 tank items. Maybe better late game scaling, or a keystone that gives %bonus armor/MR/health?

Disulfiram1 votes

Maybe it could cut in half both the damage received and the one dealt? This way it would be very useful on tanks but be very weak on everyone else.

Personally, I would fix the system this way:

Champ select:

Have an option to report.

Offer a survey for dodges so Riot can understand why a user dodged with choices like 1) bad matchup, 2) Suddenly had to leave, 3) Person threatening to troll, 4) Team troll banned my pick to be nasty, etc.

Offer 1 free dodge per so many games or per x days, maybe even a week.

Like Overwatch does, recommend picks or roles that need filled. Some people are so new that they legit don't know off-meta stupid picks won't work.

Offer every player a chance to ban. Riot has mentioned this and will likely implement it.

Make an option where teammates cannot ban each other's picks. This would eliminate troll bans.

In game:

Have mics. It does decrease nastiness and humanizes players.

When a user mutes another user, the mute is permanent and can only be changed when the user manually unmutes them. CSGO does this and it works out great.

Have scaling punishments for DC's/AFK's while also allowing the user to drop tiers in punishments for x games without afk's. CSGO does this.

Offer hextech rewards for x games with no AFK's.

When an AFK occurs, allow users the option to leave the game without punishment or lp loss. DOTA does this already and made it so it's not abused.

Fix the remake system so it actually recognizes AFK's and DC'd players. Extend the time to 5 minutes. DOTA does this.

Offer 15 minute surrenders. Riot mentioned this.

Install a Mercy rule where the game can be ended even if the surrender vote doesn't go in (due to trolls) once the gold lead is clearly too far unbalanced. Riot has discussed this.

Eliminate DQ or make a system where you can do SQ, DQ or opt in for both. Rocket League has various options to meet these needs with a lot less players.

Look at eliminating all-chat. It's usually just used for bullying, trash talking or report rallying purposes.

Offer users the option to disable chat.

Post game chat:

Eliminate it. It's useless. It's either trash talking, bragging, rallying for reports or people sending "i love you" letters to and from themselves.

More reporting options and clearer descriptions of each category.

As mentioned above, users muted in game stay muted in post-game chat.

Offer more honoring options like "great warder", "unselfish", "smart player", "skilled at x champion" and others. These would create new ribbons/banners on champ select that would promote positive behavior. Being honored multiple times by different players(not just your premade) could also trigger maybe some extra IP or something.

These would all help and make the game much better.

usually large scale game mechanics, class reworks, or just large parts of the game. Such as the jungle overhaul and summoners rift update which happened in the 2015 preseason. The adc class update and ranked overhaul (the cancer that is known as dynamic queue) which happened this past preseason. And now for 2017 itll be the assassin class update and another ranked overhaul

Mandatory Smite for jungle position

I think Riot should utilize the pre-existing "custom item builds" thing to make a "custom runes/masteries/summoners" thing. That way, when you pick a champ (or maybe a role, idk which would be easier to implement) the game automatically selects a pre-set rune/mastery/sums configuration that you set up for that champ. And you wouldn't be forced into doing this, so the self-righteous people that shit on good ideas won't have anything to bitch about.

possibly implement mics for in game

You mean like literally every single other online game ever made in the history of...FOREVER??? I really don't understand why opposition still exists to ingame voice chat. Every other modern game has it, and they don't have any worse toxicity than LoL. In fact, I would argue that voice chat would reduce toxicity, as there is a much greater sense of responsibility when you say something toxic in your own voice as opposed to simply typing it.

  • Set requirements for ranked beyond level 30 and 6 champs or whatever it is. You must be a mastery level 3+ to play a champ in ranked.

If this mechanic in implemented, there needs to be a way to still allow people to pick champions that they haven't played for someone else in the team.

  • Mandatory Smite for jungle position

https://champion.gg/champion/AurelionSol/Jungle

Highest w/r at the moment take Barrier/Flash instead of Smite/Flash. I know the sample size is extremely small but it seems that not taking Smite can work.

  • possibly implement mics for in game

I don't like this due to the fact that players that communicate with mics won't be

  • players muted ig remain muted in post-game chat...this should've happened awhile ago

As some people have already asked for, I'd also like an option to mute pings in addition to text chat - with the mute being separate for both text and pings.

Bans for using new champs in ranked - no. Riot increases IP costs during the first week a champion is released specifically because they make the most money from RP on champions during that week. Restricting ranked play for those champions would lower their revenue, and that would prevent them from hiring more workers to rework more champions at a time, as you requested.

Their income is all from LC$. Who the fuck spends RP on this shitty incompetent company

Plenty of people.

Isn't jacking the price up of products despite the fact that it hurts gameplay and ranked's integrity a bad thing? Besides, Riot makes a large portion of their revenue from lcs/pro play over microtransactions. I don't think it would hurt them as much as you seem to

As for reporting a player from outside the client: Their system will only reduce the authenticity of players for sending fake reports just like it does already. I think the pros for not being so limited far outweigh the possible cons

Bad how? From a business standpoint, it's a good thing because it helps keep the game free.

The ban system can help those who don't want to play against new champions, especially with 10 bans confirmed for next season.

Here's another point: you don't have to play ranked when a champion is released. That is your decision. It's not up to Riot to control something that is only a balance issue to some players.

You might argue it's bad from a moral standpoint but morality has nothing to do with money. Money is the root of all evil as they say. I can form an argument that every type of transaction is morally "bad", that doesn't make the argument relevant.

it's bad from a gameplay perspective, where you have players who are inexperienced with a champion fighting players who are inexperienced fighting a champion. That greatly reduces the significance of overall skill and focuses completely on "who can get the relative-hang of it fastest" which isn't what ranked's purpose is for imo

Has to happen at some point. Plenty of people who play ranked don't play nirmals at all so they will have no experience fighting the new champ after one week or two weeks or whatever, and gaining experience in normals playing against AD Teemo and jungle Tryndamere who only show up in ranked on dedicated mains doesn't help you prepare to deal with meta champions two weeks later.

Your argument has been made many times before. Pretty much every tune a new champ is released. It's not a good argument.

Mastery rank 2 is enough for a rank requirement. Mastery 3 takes too long.

Thats the main thing I just wanted to point out.

and the common argument: "what if u r picking a champ for someone else?"

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Yeah thats also why i say mastery rank 2. For months thought about the time it would take, minimal amount of champs mastery 2 to enter rank(there's already a limitation of 16 for draft which will increase to 20 when the extra bans are implemented), when a new champ releases, champion trading which usually means you own the champ but not always play it, and lastly the enviroment of a ranked game.

Rank 2 limit would still allow trading since it's a quick amount of games even if you don't like said champ you could do that. While it would help emphasize the more serious nature of rank.

But still champ trading will be the only major downside until about a few weeks into implementation for even I have some champs who I havnt used in months or even years. But after those few weeks once you mastery 2 champs who your allies might want it'll help narrow down some not just first timing a champ thus oncreasing team trust a bit.

Sorry for the long post it's not even my thread...

ya, I agree. I just kind of threw a random requirement out there, perhaps mastery 3 is to high. As long as there is a requirement to stop 1st timers

If we get alternate ladders, will that not mean you'll only be matched with people in your ladder (i.e. if you're solo, you will only play with solo players)?

Slythion3 votes

no, from my understanding solos and premades will still be matched with eachother (how else would 4-mans exist?) but would get LP for these two different ranking ladders. Idk how that's a good idea but that's what Riot is going with from my understanding

President Swa1n1 votes

I believe I read/heard from somewhere that the solo ladder will only be for solo players and the dynamic ladder will be for duos and trios. Four man premades will not be allowed and Team ranked will be for five man premades.

Slythion1 votes

interesting...their entire argument for not doing this was that it'd split the community too much. Idk which one of us are right tbh

President Swa1n1 votes

Well especially if you'd be allowed to switch between ladders at will as I've heard, I don't think it would be an issue.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Revert DQ (not by just giving them a different ladder, I just don't want to play with/against premades, it ruins ranked's integrity)

Why do you have a problem with DynamicQ players on one ladder, and Solo/DuoQ players on the other?

I would be surprised if even 5 of these would be done next Season.

Slythion1 votes

Because simply matching solo players and premades together/against eachther creates a host of unbalanced powers that don't create a fair playing field on a micro level

It's great that they are on a different grading scale now, but playing with/against them is still an issue imo

rtbf2256182411 votes

Pretty sure, making DynamicQ players not get higher than Plat I is good enough for me. Regardless, perhaps they'll split the games in two aswell. I never had a problem with DynamicQ anyway as teams are way less coordinated than people like to describe just because they're bad. Also, premading results in harsher opponents most of the time or other premades aswell.

Forgetting to fix matchmaking. Cause currently the way it works is stupid.

Do you still get ip if you beat bots? because on some league of legends boards, in s7 you do. I just want to clarify it. Thank you!
