I hope the meta really does tank up

I prefer longer teamfights, I prefer skill expression over multiple rotations than the "burst or die" that we've had for a bit now. I prefer ADCs having to dish actual DPS, and I prefer longer games.

shrugs, I am a jugg/fighter/tank player though. I understand this is an extremely unpopular opinion here on the boards, and several of you are going to try to impose your opinions the moment I post this thread. I just wanted to say that some people do prefer a tankier meta rather than the damage-creep that's been steady until recently

edit: I suppose it isn't that much of an unpopular opinion, sorry. I honestly have only seen the "tank hate" threads so my personal experience made me think the boards hated tank metas

Tank Metas are mostly a hated thing on the boards from my experience, it wasn't some baseless attention-grabber

the hate that flies your way when you propose change that reduces damage or makes people more tanky etc is unreal sometines

half those threads get 10 downvotes before they have been read by 2 people

i guess it's mostly mages and supports hanging around these forums

Well gauntlet also isn't exactly a full tank item, so it's really 3 full tank items, tanky boots, and two tanky/bruisery items. Still probably quite tanky though.

The difference is that Gragas dealing damage is proportional to him buying damage.

In my opinion tanks focus more on being bulky than being a damage dealer. There are odd ducks like Shen and Sion whose damage is meant to be a threat rather than a reliable source of damage, but tanks fundamentally should not be considered to be reliable sources of damage that their team should provide.

That being said, even Super Minions and jungle monsters can chunk down squishies. It's not impressive to deal a lot of damage to a squishy.

Skill expression. Lol. Tanks actually remove skill expression because you can fuck up multiple times in a row and still not die

Wrong. If you fuck up your CC application, you've lost your team the teamfight. This stereotype of "Tanks take no skill" needs to die. I would love to see you try to work with a first time Sion, and then compare the experience to working with a rank 7 over 250K mastery Sion like me or (probably) Ralanr

If more people played Sion, I would be fine with it. I think Sion is probably the best designed tank.

However, we all know that Maokai Nautilus Poppy are bottom of the barrel when it comes to skill cap and Zac maybe just one tier above.

Guess which ones are going to get played the most?

When you start facing more skilled opponents, they'll use the downtime of your cooldowns and punish your team HARD. Poppy used her W and E to try to catch someone out? Well, she might be tanky as shit, but she just used her team defense tools. Your divers and assassins now have exclusive access to the backline.

It's less about you yourself dying than you wasting the tools used to protect those who are the enemy's priority targets.

Yes tank metas definitely have more skill to them than metas where mistakes get punished much more harshly

Oh yeah sure, good positioning has nothing to do with it. I can totally just land the maximum amount of CC and punish mistakes optimally from anywhere in the teamfight. And yes, we don't die quickly. That's what tanks are known for. Stop acting like how quickly you die in teamfights determines a champion's skillcap.

The skill in playing tanks is applying CC optimally. A bad tank player will just blow all of his CC on whoever is closest to him in a teamfight. A skilled tank player will single out priority damage threats and divert their fire by being a threat, all while knowing by the time this teamfight is over, they'll probably be dead, hoping to god the rest of the team does their job. We might not be the most mechanically complex champions, but let's face it, Neither are Zed, Camille, or Fiora.

you were good to the last line. Have you ever tried playing Zed or Fiora? Extremely difficult champs to play optimally. Camille is easy mode though.

Tank meta is just as unhealthy as assassin meta but for different reasons. There's nothing more infuriating than getting outdueled by a tank that comes in for a gank bot lane because the damage creep is still a thing----and tanks still deal way too much damage for the amount of safety that they will have (especially now) given the added items and increased armor.

I know, the Boards want tank meta right now because we haven't seen it since early Season 5, but in a few months the same people that were cheering for it will be all over the boards saying "omg I auto attacked Zac 39 times in one fight and he still survived... we lost the game after 83 minutes, what the fuck Riot".

that's what people don't realize: if a meta is named after a role, then that role is warping the meta in an unhealthy way. Tank metas aren't healthy. Assassin metas aren't healthy, and so on. No role-named meta is healthy. You want a balanced meta, not a tank meta. A balanced meta lets people have the diversity they want; a tank meta has tanks routinely in 3/5 positions of each team and suffocating diversity just as much as when assassins are in 3/5 positions.

Wrong, we have weekly meetings on a near-orbital space station, tracing the weekly opinions of every person on the internet in order to formulate the ideal meme for their tastes. We then decide through a tourney of sumo-wrestling matches to decide who will get the meme.

It's a very long and arduous process, but getting benefits by Riot Games in the form of freebies at the bake sales is totally worth it.

I prefer tanks to be TANKS and not hidden bruisers like they used to be where apoppy could pretty much do 70% of a carries health xD.

So far i've spectated a friend play game looks smoother. Ill have more of an oppinion later tonight that imma play myself. BUT getting rid of the oneshot everything meta is good.. Hopefully now Oriana wont 80-0 me with one combo .
