Play a game as him, but don't invest any points into W until level 13. Then once you've done that, just kinda throw out your W when you are out of range of E and/or don't want to was Q.
Give it a shot, and then leave some feedback on this threat how it felt. Honestly, it feels better to just not even have the W than it does to try and utilize it in any capacity, and the extra rank that gives you back some of the lost base damage from the rework actually feels a lot better.
