Any tips for laning vs Illaoi?

I usually take melee champs like Poppy, Shyv, Tahm, and Trundle top. But when I lane vs Illaoi I cant help but get my ass handed to me. If I go out of position to kill tentacles I am well, out of position and get my spirit ripped out. I fight her and her tentacles whoop my ass. Not to mention she's relatively tanky so that and her Heimer like lane of zoning you makes her frustrating to go against. Any tips other then just fighting fire with fire and bringing my main lady Quinn up top?

I think trundle can duel her with the stealing of tank stats. Tahm kench can beat her because he can help his team kite back when she ults.

I've never seen the poppy match up. I know shyvana in the jungle with devourer can duel illoai (i've seen it happen) but without the sated devo aiding lifesteal I don't think shyv can beat out illaoi, especially since illaoi's laning is so dominant.

Either pick a ranged champ, play well with a melee champ or dont die more than 5 times by minute 15 and ure probably good.

Are u a shen player? He survives the lane pretty easily and after a couple items he will win 1v1s.

DOT champions or multi-proc champions make her e go away effectively instantly cause any instance of damage reduces by the duration by 1s

treat her like velkoz, when right on top of her its very difficult for her to hit you with any of her abilities.

in addition, ALL of her tentacles are gold. just kill them, i know it seems hard to just right click and walk in a straight line to kill it. but dont! manually click your way on over there moving left/right as needed. not just forward.

finally, if you have more than 340 MS, SHE CANT TOUCH YOU!!!, its all on you if you get hit. if you are having difficulties against her try boots first item and you will be in command of the lane, you smack her around, and you dont just sit there all intimidated, at your max range, no, you go in and get her!
