Im disappointed it wasn't everyone's first connection. I mean I loved Avatarand Toph was my favorite but This new champ just screams Terra. Young but not a child Scared/intimidated by her powers People that want to help/train her People that want to use her Seemingly shy even

Just need a beastboy to fall for her. Oh wait, Yasuo is a beast in lane.... [slayer-jinx-wink]

Try to activate his Q in the infinitesimally small gap when he blinks to his target. This will work well, though it takes practice.

um? ekko is obviously cyborg? Think about it, he uses tech, was in a group with JINX, of whom cyborg likes ;)

Ekko is also a black teen

iamthegoatofwar2 votes

robin might be more of a wukong in a way.

Wukong uses stealth, a pole staff (robins main weapon if I recall right), is merely an apprentice of yi (connection here is robin is batman's apprentice). Probably missing others, but I think wukong might fit the bill the best besides being a monkey.

Rendarkan1 votes

Urgot Closest to Cyborg I could think of on the fly. Unless you apply Vi in a male form.

SithesisLord6 votes

Vi is already the male version of Vi.

I´d dare say she's manlier than Draven.

And thus I am reminded of the end of Teen Titans and the start of Teen Titans Go, and filled with an immense rage.

Time to go play Sion .

Yea I feel this is why everyone related Taliyea to Toph. People have tried to block the depression of Og Teen Titans from they're memory [zombie-nunu-tears]

why not Tryndamere ?

You mean the chick that in the comic was super evil, tried to kill the Teen Titans, and had a physical relationship with Slade?

IGotScuttleCrabs2 votes

Yea that one ;) Was clearly referring to the cartoon version.

God, I just flashed back to the moment when Terra looked at her new Titans communicator, said "I can't believe it it, they actually trust me" while her hair falls across her face to give her a concealed eye JUST LIKE SLADE, and I SAW THAT CONNECTION right THEN AND THERE. Felt so proud of myself later on when I realized I'd caught the foreshadowing correctly.

IGotScuttleCrabs2 votes

Yea I always had a feeling she wouldn't last on the Titans. Or the good side in general.

I forgot about terra.. it's been like.. 10+ years sense I last watched Teen Titans. :(

A lot of people didn't like her. Some hated her for ruining their ships (no hate like shipper hate), some hated her for her brash, jump-to-conclusions, huffy personality, then others hated her for being a backstabbing bitch, and still others hated her for her roll in that nut-punch of a final episode...

Me, I don't hate but I wasn't a big fan either.

what is this from?

[zombie-nunu-bummed]

Teen Titans. Along with Avatar, probably the best US anime. Based on DC comic character, a team of teen superheroes lead by none other than Robin.

There's a spinoff now on cartoon network called teen titans go. Much less serious and more directed at humor and kids.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

ah, i never saw teen titans but i'm familiar with the premise. ty.

The earlier episodes are extremely cheesy, but it is still worth to watch. If you can shrug off the cheese, the show is beautiful. It was absolutely my favorite show from when I was younger. Every time I have access to Boomerang, or some other channel that shows old cartoons, I try to find Teen Titans.

Sukishoo7 votes

It's pronounced Cartoon.

IGotScuttleCrabs6 votes

Ok ok calm down. Clearly all shows drawn in the US are cartoons and only anime only applies to Japanese shows.

teechniiccaalllyyyyyy yes.

Anime being slang for japanese animation.

Though you can say that the teen titans was "anime inspired". Or some silly billy chilly gilly lilly tilly milly filly pilly zilly...

MrBuffington14 votes

Technically, in Japan, "anime" is used to refer to any type of animation. The Japanese call The Simpsons "anime," for example.

In America, and perhaps most of the English speaking world (and beyond), "anime" generally refers specifically to Japanese created animation, even a particular style or styles of Japanese animation. Even Google and Merriam-Webster define it as such.

So, if by "technically", you mean the actual Japanese meaning, then no. If, instead, you refer to the altered meaning resulting from adoption of the word in the English language, then sure.

KING OF MASKS4 votes

Context is king.

We're on an English-speaking forum, designated for the North American continent. The "actual Japanese" definition is absolutely meaningless here. Nobody is going to use the word "anime" to describe something that doesn't at least resemble that style.

MrBuffington1 votes

Of course, we in America, you're going to speak American. We have no time to understand other cultures even when talking about other cultures.

And no one is going to use that definition; OP certainly didn't, amirite?

KING OF MASKS1 votes

Well, that's not quite what I'm saying. Understanding other cultures is all well and good, but context is ultimately more important when it comes to actual communication. If you traveled around these parts using the Japanese definition, you'd just confuse people.

OP did use the word anime, but 1) he was talking about Teen Titans, an anime-influenced show, and 2) he qualified it by describing the show as "US" anime. So there was really no possible way to misinterpret him.

MrBuffington1 votes

Yea, one of my pet peeves are those "anime purists" who scoff at dubbed shows or think they know everything about Japanese culture because they watched a few anime. I don't think it's an issue of confusion, more arrogance. Being enthusiastic about a medium is all well and good, but having an exclusionary view on these sorts of things is just obnoxious, especially if you don't know what you're talking about.

I was probably projecting onto you a bit :P. Like you said, there really isn't much reason for OP to be misunderstood, but the issue still came up.

KING OF MASKS1 votes

Yeah, well, you can be forgiven for the projection, I think; my original reply was phrased pretty terribly. I wasn't arguing against you or anything, since all you did was present an accurate distinction between the two definitions. I was really just adding my two cents to the discussion.

It's a stunningly stupid "debate," but whenever Western animation comes up there's almost invariably some kind of kerfuffle along the lines of one side screaming "NOT ANIME UNLESS IT COMES FROM GLORIOUS NIPPON," the other shrieking "ANIME JUST MEANS ANIMATION". In reality there's more of a middle ground.

But hey, people will always get worked up over dumb shit. Whaddayagonnado?

True statements above, apparently the writers for TTG hadn't watched the original series. So they made thinly veiled attack episodes aimed at old fans, until they actually watched the original series. They then made an episode apologizing and using clips from the original series about how they used to be so much better.

IGotScuttleCrabs2 votes

Only thing they did right was get the same voice actors.
