Ever since the new end game screen changes no one talks...

IGotScuttleCrabs··232 votes·7,423 views

Just thought I'd point that out Riot. I hardly ever see end game chat. No one knows who's there, who left, who dc'd. Nothing.

Why fix something thats not broken?

Hope this is in the right section btw On a side note forum mods, why not move the post yourselves rather than delete when its in the wrong section??

Because mods are lazy, sadly.

okino5 votes

i think it's more like they want people to learn where to post but i can see why it can be considered lazy work

Sona Ping23 votes

Neither, actually; the boards just do not have the functionality to move posts.

In 2016.... I think that may be almost worse.

MeleeNuke4 votes

They don't have the power currently... I sent a ticket a while back complaining about this, all they said was "sorry you feel that way."

PaladinNO1 votes

You're kidding, right? Riot support really just said "sorry you feel that way", instead of giving you an apology for deleting your post/thread and a technical explanation as to why they did it and why they thought that was the only solution, and/or a suggestion as to how they or you could do things better next time?

MeleeNuke1 votes

No they tried to explain... It was all about a couple of posts I made that were unjustly removed for "Wrong sub-section." I provided extensive proof explaining why the sub-section I chose was the right one and not the one they suggested me to use (in the message telling me I have a deleted post, it says "this post should be in this sub-section"). I may post the conversation in a separate thread because I typed up my own big wall of china....of text. But my efforts to provide extensive evidence to support my case was in vain because in the end he just couldn't agree with me.

PaladinNO2 votes

I see your point. I have had my own fights with Rito support - sometimes, it's not about the case itself, but Rito support's inability to understand what you are actually saying, and not so much their actual ability to help.

Mine left me with this message. (Not full conversation he said much before this) http://imgur.com/maWW7ys

Are there really other people awake at this hour? Timezones must be strong indeed, as it's 04:24 AM here. ^^

Wow. So, it "will be looked into if need for adjustment." Well, clearly the need for some such adjustment is present, else they should've understood you wouldn't have been making the request in the first place. It may have been diplomatically written, but he might as well have said "we know what we are doing - now leave us alone." :/

It's such an annoying response and is the kind of answer I have come to expect from them. Even when they admit their own mistakes, like a technical bug or the pricing in the store, they won't come good on them. Especially not when they would've had to refund money (RP).

And speaking of their support, I have to make a new request on where all my other requests have gone - only one comes up (from 2 years ago), and even the ID in the above screenshot seemingly doesn't exist anymore. It all disappeared when the system with logging in with the LoL login was introduced.

MeleeNuke1 votes

No kidding Timezones are strong. it's 9:45 pm here in USA.

It doesn't matter to them, ultimately. Reddit is their new "official forum" and it's why they destroyed the old boards to look more like that garbage. I've always hated this redesigned board, but at least Riot is consistent with never posting here and leaving all their important replies and discussion to what amounts to a fan-site.

Ermidor1 votes

Riot doesn't discuss important things there. Just go see /r/leagueoflegends. Most of the Riot posts are linked from Boards.

ForeverLaxx1 votes

I know. That's what I was saying. They use Reddit as their forum instead of using their actual forum.

BastionKross29 votes

I thought this was a bug that I had or something. Why would they take away that clarity?

devdev4633 votes

I also always thought this was a bug.... Huh.

OneSmoothDude1 votes

A Rioter said that it was unintended and will be fixed in the next patch. Unfortunately this patch is the longest one of the year. :/

No source, sorry.

PaladinNO1 votes

I love it when they say "unintended"...that just means they have no idea how their game code works anymore.

Wait, are you saying all the dark coloured names are on purpose?!

I just wasted several hours pressing the fix button on the patcher

I think the big question here is: Is the lack of post game chatting a bad thing?

In my experience, only very rarely do players actually say anything positive in post game. It's usually a pile of "report x for trolling", "GG EZ", "X Champ is broken, noob player". If players actually have something positive to say, they usually send a friend request to the player in question and message them directly.

I think chat as a whole is losing its place in the game, and 90% of the toxicity in the game would go away if chat were eliminated except between in-game friends.

Please no. Heroes of the storm already does this between teams and at the game startup you get a prompt if you wish to mute your entire team. The notion of reducing toxicity by removing communication is something I find completely absurd. Why have team-based games and then restrict the most important aspect of teamwork.

I for one, get more enjoyment then grief out of the chat system. There are already tools to avoid the chat, just please don't go the blizzard route and enforce muteness. Don't ruin it for those of us who enjoy all-chat, just because you can't be bothered with /mute all.

junglerboy162 votes

I do /mute all, but I still have to deal with the rest of my team flaming each other even if I can't see it.

IGotScuttleCrabs2 votes

Ive had fairly good experiences in post game chat. Definitely miss it. And if chat was completely removed from any non friend players, how would you make friends??

Sorry, but what exactly is it you "have to deal with"?

junglerboy163 votes

They still play badly because they're getting flamed, so I have to deal with people not playing as well as they should because they're attacking each other instead of the enemy team.

I literally said exactly what I have to deal with. Reading comprehension much?

So let me get this straight, you want to completely disable any kind of in-game communication (except between friends) because you feel like your teammates are playing worse then they should be (never mind that these are complete strangers to you and you would have no idea of their average skill level)? You don't think the lack of proper communication between teammates would have greater negative impact then people dragging down each others (supposed) capabilities from flaming each other?

Kryogen4 votes

It's the kind of logic where if we can't play nicely we must be bound, gagged, hoodwinked then securely padded and locked into perfectly organized tiny cells so that no one anywhere ever will be offended.

BEHOLD! NETOPIA!

That question pretty much sums this whole pre season BS pretty nicely.

KaisadiIIa6 votes

To be fair every ADC in the game built exactly the same build, with some exceptions that changed one item or simply built them in different order. They wanted to make the role more diverse, and they've done it. The problem is it seems like they left the work half-done. Some champions (Vayne, , MF, Cait) are over the top while half the roster (Ez, Graves, Kog'Maw, Corki) need some help, but they haven't balanced them anymore.

I think sometimes that Riot likes breaking things or "changing" things just so they have something to do later so they can tell us how much work they are doing lol

I think Riot said this is a bug. What frustrates me is they couldn't even be bothered to revert the change before leaving for the holiday period. Laziness to the extreme.

Exactly what happened last year with the Cass rework, they introduced a massive bug that cut her dps by 20-40% and we just had to live with it for months. It's really annoying that Riot doesn't learn from their mistakes.

at this point no one fucking knows what belongs on what section because riot doesnt say shit they just remove it

"Hey guys people can tell who is still there at end screen. Better make it into some random grey or red colors that seem to have no consistency".

ModAcademy Kayn3 votes

I really think that you're putting a problem with an unrelated cause. Sure, the new end screen is buggy, but in no way does that effect whether or not people talk. If no one is talking, then there is nothing to discuss usually. Whether the enemy team is salty/upset enough not to talk, or nothing funny/interesting took place that game, then people really won't chat in the endgame screen other than "gg".

For instance, one of my games, I was a mirror lane of Zyras. The enemy Zyra was amazed at actually seeing another Zyra mid, as opposed to mid, so we had quite a time just messing with each other in all chat. We lost in the end, but we continued to chat in the End Game screen about the game, we exchanged little playstyle tips.

If nothing interesting happened in your game, and no one decides to chat about it, it's not the end screen. It's the people not wanting to talk.

Rather than fixing something that's not broken, they broke something that was working perfectly fine.

Humans are a social creature, even if someone is blabbering racial slurs and toxicity I cannot find myself muting them for my love of communication

Ditto. Only time I'll mute someone is if they're just spamming random letters to annoy

Gonna be frank, if someone's just being annoying and it's 2am EST while they're playing a garbage champ and doing overall garbage in score (esp in comparison to anyone), they deserve a mute cause they have nothing insightful to say anyway.

GhostOfShrimpmas2 votes

They announced shortly after the change went live that they were working on a larger post-match chat change, and accidentally shipped half of their currently-in-progress new system. So the current changes were not intended to fix a problem, but rather were just a portion of some future change that somehow ended up on live before the whole thing was done being built.

IGotScuttleCrabs2 votes

They should revert the change in the meantime than

High52 votes

True, but I've never found talking during the game to be beneficial either. Turning off /allchat and muting everyone has made the game far more enjoyable.

I think what's more significant is the lack of honor being distributed. Riot should add another badge for actual giving honor to show your an appreciative player that way players are as interested in giving honor as receiving it...
