How does any melee top laner fight against a trundle?

It feels like unless your jumgler camp the trundle, as long as the trundle isn't dumb he will always win lane and crush any 1v1 match up... What is the counter to this guy? He literally have no mechanic that are avoidable, just steal your stats and aa you to death with all the bs steroids. Also qss change not compensated with nerf really hurts any tanks...

He is strong, but really you just need to recognize as a laner the moments when he is strong. Without his ultimate trundle is pretty weak especially since a lot of Trundles build damage early and then go tanky later on.

I usually have a good sense whether his ultimate is up or not. I look for his pillar and his ultimate and if both those are down I know I can engage.

Also building health and damage verse trundle is better than building any type of resistances. Typically in the top lane I usually go resistances and defense early, but against trundle I will build some health and then damage items like item 3057 .

It is just a matter of recognizing when to engage and disengage.

Also worth noting that Trundle is supposed to be strong vs melee toplaners that don't build damage or sustain. Bringing a ranged champ to toplane is one of the best ways to handle him.

I remember years ago making a Trundle rage as a first time top Wukong. The trick there was to only go in for quick trades, then back off. He couldn't do much damage because I was constantly backing off after slapping him :P

But he has should ch good sustain with his passive, if you only go in for short trades he can just sustain up and you run oom soon.

Irelia does well against him. She can match his sustain, and if you use your E after he uses his ult, you're guaranteed a stun, usually meaning a forced flash or a dead troll. She can also duel him reasonably well in the late game (as well as being generally more useful in teamfights).

Fiora also works ok if you can manage to Parry his ult. Doesn't matter what Trundle buys, it's impossible to itemize against % max HP true damage, so she'll always be able to fight him.
