so people say riot doesnt enforce the meta. How do you explain pigeonholed champions?

Soraka Sona Braum Bard Amumu Hecarim Kled Rammus Singed Yorick Mordekaiser

Pigeon holed champions are champions who have, for one reason or another, been forced or designed to ONLY be capable of one spot on the map. theres not much space for them elsewhere, and what little space they have aside from what they were designed for is extremely meta dependant.

If riot truly didnt enforce the meta, there wouldnt be pigeonholed champions because champions would be the broader "Tank, DPS, magic" and not the much more specific "Top lane, Jungle, Mid, ADC, support".

Sona is a viable mid, Singed can go support (seriously, look at the cc in that guy's kit, he has one of the strongest slows in the game), and morde can go top or adc.

Worst part about champs like singed is damage is so high you resort to proxy farming with him rather than trying to survive s a tank in lane. Not to mention Riot decides what is "toxic", whether or not it is toxic.

A lot of those champs can go to different roles, riot just designs a champion and the community discovers what position suits them the most. Morde was originally meant to go botlane but now he can be seen played top, mid and jungle.

All those champs can go toplane, toplane is off-meta central. You play anything toplane if you meme hard enough.

Yorick, amumu, and hecarim are the only ones that really have some flexability. The supports are pigeonholed to the support role, and are not capable of or are heavily discouraged, of doing something else.

Braum, for example, doesnt have ANY waveclear. He could be a very powerful top laner if winters bite passed through minions. Bard and sona have some damage, but are definitely meta dependant, soraka has her goat knees knocked out whenever she goes elsewhere...

pigeonholed champions do not dictate the meta.

that's like saying drops of water dictate the flow of the ocean

Pigeon holed champions are made FOR a meta. Their existence is proof that the developers want to enforce a specific meta-game, otherwise they wouldnt be so specialized for a meta position.

Pigeon holed champions could also mean that they don't want a single champion to define a meta, so no it doesn't prove that they are enforcing any specific meta.

When lulu or soraka can go mid or top many other champions can no longer go mid or top and the meta gets MUCH more simplistic and less fun/flexible for everyone.

getting champs in another lane is a dicey situation

i remember when all the junglers were pretty much the most broken top laners

Hec can go top Amumu was a korean top laner not to long ago. Rammus again was meta top last season Mord can still go Top or Mid Sona can mid.

Raka, Bruam, Bard I spose your right on

Singed and Yorcik COULD jungle.

Kled I spose your also right.

Being extremely "anti-meta" or whatever this shit is are just annoying. There's wanting meta picks to be more varied so you see a larger champion pool played, and that's understandable. But being upset that some champions are tailored with a specific role in mind? that's just being ridiculous. They don't enforce a meta so much as they want to make a good game with fun champs for everyone.
