Things silver players do that bronze players dont

Hi im scazz. silver 5. and climbing. and here are some tips for "getting over the hump"

  1. pick 2 roles and get good at them. picking fill every time while admirable. will limit you to how good you can get with a particular role. with the new champ select you no longer need to fill
  2. play champs you're comfortable with, but try to follow the meta
  3. if someone is tilting or feeding DONT MAKE IT WORSE. dont mock them, call them bad, ignore their pings out of spite, troll them, ect. this will make them play worse and may push them to troll or flame. and can get you reported and its sad because you still see this at low silver as well. give constructive advice and offer them help. if they dont listen its on them. dont push the issue
  4. when losing lane. not losing hard can make or break a game. tower hug. focus on CS. farm under tower and when your laner is in base. perhaps take a support item to catch up on gold
  5. if you lose more than 3 in a row. take a 2 hour break. this refreshes the MMR pool and allows you to calm down and be less tilted
  6. dont sit in the back line in the middle of a teamfight and watch your tank die. you simply being in the area can confuse a tank into engaging in a 1v2 or even a 1v3 which many times could have been won had you helped. if you dont intend on engaging. leave the area and ping to avoid mixed signals. if you are the tank. people wont always do this. so dont engage in a fight you cant win without your team

Number one thing:

Don't go into every game with a specific build path in mind. Look at your enemies builds, understand their champions and what makes them strong, build around it.

Don't fall into the Mobafire builds.

They are actually nice advices, pretty basic and standard things that most people usually "forget". You might also add:

  1. if your strategy has backfired slow down the game and think up a better one based on how the game is developing: if the biggest threat on the enemy team is an ap champion, even if your laner is ad, try to itemize against him: this will help you survive more during team fights and maybe get a comeback;

  2. If behind don't go straight for damage: most of the times it won't work since your enemy (who can and will do the same, unelss he's got already enough damage) will probably get more of it than you can, meaning that the gap will just widen over time. Try instead to play around that by taking some survivability: you won't kill him ALONE but you won't die to him either, meaning that a teammate can come to help and actually get assistance from you, instead of you dying after 2 autos of the enemy leaving your ally against a fed opponent he probably won't be able to handle by himself;

  3. Try to be proactive, not reactive: don't wait for the enemy to do something so you can react, instead try to be proactive by trying force something on him: bait him if you're behind forcing him in a 1 vs 2 or even 1 vs 3 or force an engage on him when you're sure you are both alone if you're ahead: humans have an harder time reacting to something (so acting AFTER something has happened) than forcing a situation (so making that something happen yourself).

  4. Not really a point per se but following the last point: baiting/bruteforcing an enemy can easily make them panic and do more mistakes, which makes the enemy more prone to go on tilt and make even more mistakes, which in turn will result in him tilting more and probably tilting his teammates too to some degree, giving you a breather and a chance to turn the tides around!. This has a psycological impact on the enemy: if they are sure they can win and end up losing, some of them will feel less secure about themselves and will tone theyr aggression down a little giving you more breathing chances while others will go even more aggro making them easy targets for other ganks/turnarounds. On the other hand if they are playing it safe (probably since they are behind or know they can't fight you) and you force something on them you will break that sense of safety they are building, especially if you're behind and pull a nice play on them since they won't expect it and will react slower than normal, making them more scared to be near you or to make plays even when they could turn the tides and win the fight, giving you a breather if behind and more chances to pressure other sides of the game if ahead.

Hope I've helped a bit too ^^.

I would add, look at the mini map from time to time. Just scan it to see if someone is coming through an area. Please ward. Granted I am bronze V.

#4 is really the most relevant of these.

People in bronze do not understand how to lose lane without going 0/10. They don't get that after a death they have to change how they play.

  1. play champs you're comfortable with, but try to follow the meta

This is probably the most important thing you can learn if you're about to leave Bronze. I feel like I have a lot of my Bronze friends get that they need to learn at least two roles, and not to play when they're tilting etc. I am in Silver right now, Gold 5 last year, but I do get matched with the occasional Bronze 1.

Where they go wrong is that they do not read patch notes, and they pick champions that either were nerfed, or fell out of the meta, or sometimes both. I see this happen most often in top lane, and unfortunately that's where a lot of out of control champions tend to come from lately. They pick things like Shyvana, Jayce, or Rumble top or something like Teemo against Pantheon.

People in Bronze and low Silver really dislike hearing that, and part of me understands that, but that's an important part of climbing out of Bronze, and also staying in Silver. Playing ranked means paying attention to the meta to a certain extent. That's a really unpopular opinion, but that's also why we have normal unranked games.

It's so important that you pay attention to your team composition as well, and again this is where I see top laners picking without thinking. If you have a fighter as your jungler, then you pick a tanky champion. I can't tell you how many games I've lost because top lane really wanted to play Teemo. We end up losing because, even if the support is a tank, they don't scale well, so they aren't going to be effective as enemy solo lane tank. After we lose that game, I go to look them up and they are in Bronze 1.

I would say if you're looking to leave bronze, read the patch notes, pay close attention to the meta, learn about matchups. Never have too much AD or AP, and have a healthy mix of tankiness, burst, and DPS.

This will also help you so much in the banning section.

  1. pick assassins because in bronze assassins get fed every game.

  2. go into the enemy jungle because they dont ward and kill the enemy jungler (assuming you can)

  3. i would assume kindred is op in bronze, but i could be wrong

  4. Take all the kills because you have to trust yourself to carry (unless someone on your team is already fed AF)

  5. Actually ward the enemy jungle. It gets you free kills and give you info on where the enemy jungler is

My tip:

Don't go on LOLNexus or any other programs/websites to search the enemy team's stats. You would feel more pressured if you found out that the enemy team is really good according to their stats or whatever.
