LCS sheep

Literally had one of those call me bad because i went Poppy jungle

in a Normal Draft... Before the match even started

He said that no professional players play Poppy jungle. I proceeded to tell him that not because something works/doesn't work in LCS means that it's also the case in lower elo. He told me i was wrong, that there are analytics backing up that data.

That was just one example of someone who believes everyone should walk in LCS footsteps and only play champions that see plays in competitive level.

Sigh... i don't understand how people can be so gullible. How can anyone fail to understand that mastering your favorite champions, no matter how meta/off-meta they are, is a hundred times better than picking a champion you are not used at just because the best player in the world picked it.

Saddening to lose a promo because top laner calls in champion select ''lol Jayce is so strong right now'' and then proceed to feed 0/8 in laning phase. And when you go check his match history, they don't even have any mastery level with that champion.

I even have some real life friends who are inately good players, but they are unable to climb past mid-silver since they only play ''meta champions'' instead of picking whatever they are already good with.

I understand that people seek a role model in professional players, but even them will prefer to pick champions they are good at over another that might have been better for that game.

That's why it's fun to pick Darius vs those Rumble meta sheeps.

TheSingularity2 votes

Untill you vs the poor souls who've grinded games to figure out that match up ;) The salt was real. But now darius is my salt supply

Darth StepVader2 votes

The rumble may be good and experienced with the matchup but, the same goes for Darius. Darius has a significant advantage in this lane, becoming more and more impossible for rumble to actually win. His best bet is to simply farm and wait for teamfights and good tp ganks. Still, though, he will have a cs deficit.

I know Darius smashes Rumble but i'm not sure exactly why he loses out more than other melee champs.

Extreme immobility and lack of engage tools. The nerfs to swifties made him even worse. Even if the Darius is smart enough to simply survive the lane by farming, he will get destroyed later in the game by all the armpen'ed poke that ranged champions have received in their arsenal this season.

I meant why does Rumble get smashed by Darius harder than other melee champions, and i'm well aware that Darius isn't in the best spot right now.

Oh, sorry. I didn't understand your last reply fully. I'd say that Darius is pretty good in this matchup due to his innate tankiness, extreme early game presence, fighting sustainability and decent cc if he has managed to reach you. On top of that, unlike a few other melee champs, Darius can pretty much build resistances and still deal immense amounts of damage through his passive. So, not only does he ignore Rumbles damage in lane but, he is also a zoning threat since you do not wish to engage in a prolonged fight with him.

I'd also say that Yorick and Trynda do pretty well vs Rumble, maybe just as much as Darius. As far as Riven is concerned, i consider that more of a skill matchup.

TheSingularity1 votes

I always have a cs deficit, regardless of who I play or who I vs XD But as a mechanically incompetent player, playing a mechanically demanding champ (imma scrub leave meh alone XD).... I has mastered the art of ultra pussy bitchery. Even without ganks, the darius drops off as I get my magic pen and low elo darius' get really impatient around the time I get mah hourglass. At that point, all I have to do is continue being a pussy and it's checkmate. He shoves and dives, I pop ult e q and hourglass. Worst case scenario I trade one for one (generally if he got an early kill b4 hourglass)

Will be interesting to see what happens if I ever progress into another rank tier

Darth StepVader1 votes

Not much will change. The difference is that, the higher you go the more players are patient. Darius will not become impatient on killing you or snowballing the lane. He knows your teamfighting is better but, he also knows his is not bad either.

His main focus will be to freeze lane instead of shoving. This way he will force you to overextend to reset the wave so, he acheives a few things. He will either bait you into a gank with a high chance of success or he will foce you to fight him to reset the wave. So, you will have to either bite that or use ult to push it in. Either way, he gets a small lead. A good Daius will force this multiple times.

Zzrot? Idk Generally with runes and items I hit 40% cdr pretty quick. So popping ult isn't too drastic, particularly if I can keep him occupied.

There no other way around it?

If the Darius knows his stuff, it will be rough. Still, since you already know how to sacrifice a few minions, you can bait Darius into an uncomfortable position(i.e overextending). But, it's a lot more difficult for you to maintain the freeze. So, your jungler needs to be aware of the exact moment Darius will start overextending in order to reset his pushing wave and gank your lane before that happens. If your jungler actually comes, it's usually a fee kill. Darius is too weak during laning phase to 1v2.

Of course, during teamfights, i personally consider a rumble with Zhonya's and rylai's/liandrys to be way better than Darius in the current meta.

Phelas1 votes

Listen here, Pants are Dragon is a mastermind, fooling us all, saying he plays Janna and Taric because they are "freelo" to motivate people to play them aswell, just to realize how freaking hard these champs, yes Janna is hard /s, are!

Thats his true way of gaining elo, fooling others to play what he wants them to play to simply farm that juicy LP. Man i wish i had no life, and am asian, so i probably can get rank one.

Fuck those people. Im already scared enough to try to bring Aatrox jungle into ranked because hes not a very good champion right now but i've been doing well on him in normals, these people scare me out of doing it because i know if i get one of them in my lobby and lock it in they will troll because "You can't win on Aatrox, not a korean pick". Also fuck the people who claim to be gods for copying Korean builds, im a low silver player, if you are matched with me you are nothing close to a god.

My best ranked champs are Evelynn and Taliyah. I stopped playing ranked because I got tired of being flamed for bringing my champs with my best ranked performance.

A Liberal2 votes

My best ranked champion was bard but I stopped playing him because of all the flaming I got. Six months later some Korean played bard and suddenly everyone played bard for a patch.

But those are perfectly fine champs that are in fact in meta

Ayame Isaki1 votes

Taliyah was briefly in the meta before she was gutted to oblivion (and even after that, I maintained a 55-60% winrate on her in norms as her gutting turned me off of ranked). Evelynn has never been "in the meta" other than crowd teaser hovers in the LCS.

I agree with you both are perfectly fine champs (and with practice, viable as more than just niche picks). The recent changes to Tallyah have actually pushed her toward SoloQ (her lack of pushing power means she can't roam as easily and the Q and worked ground changes let her stand alone in lane more effectively).

But unfortunately most players are closed minded.

I don't even pay attention to the match results much less watch LCS. I just play what I know in most of my games. I don't even know the names of any given professional player. The only LoL celebrity I pay attention to is MagikarpUsedFly if that says anything.

ManiacalCoyote2 votes

Close: MagikarpUsedFly & Brofresco. Although, I do watch some 420Singed for lulz.

Veltox5 votes

These kinds of people would still report you if you carried them with AP Nasus or anything they never saw in LCS.

ManiacalCoyote2 votes

Yeah, and the Tribunal people would laugh their asses off for a "Troll Build" who got Legendary, a Pentakill, and destroyed 2/3 of the structures on the map.

Haha yeah, Zac has been my second best jungler for a while now, way before he was meta and now i keep seeing messages like ''Zac so OP''

Kyoia4 votes

Maybe because all of his abilities have CC, and he only has to build health to do damage?

In platinum and higher, Zac has a near 70% ban rate. WHAT COULD IT MEAN?

HazyCloud71 votes

Not to mention he can gank from about 3 miles away. If you are an immobile mage there is absolutely no counterplay to him because he can slingshot from fog of war even if you have both mid bushes warded. Either you have flash up or you die.

Athenes Lulu3 votes

When you main something obviously "out of meta" and the longer you play them, the more you will forget about those whiny teammates. For instance, Lulu support has been "shit", "outclassed", "overnerfed", and "a shittier version of solo lane". Somehow I'm climbing by playing just that while many of such sheep aren't.

Though you can go even more specific as not rushing Youmuu's on Jhin/MF = "you are bad".

You know what, doesn't matter whatever the hell I said, just forget about what they have to say. No one's stopping you, and if you lose, oh well.

Unironic SJW1 votes

um my partner plays lulu support and you can literally 1v2 the enemy botlane with it.

i'm shocked that people think it's bad.

Curious about what you'd rush other than Youmuu/Dusk on MF though.

It was for a while when they where handing her nerfs that hit support harder than the solo lane version they where targeting. The last few balance changes helped support more through so it is good now, but it has been so long in coming people did not bother to test.

Sick and tired of seeing syndra every single game since about three weeks ago. Luckily, it is giving me plenty of practice pubstomping with Katarina, since syndra has a hard time against Katarina, and most of these syndras don't know even her basic combos (having to explain the q-e buffer 10000 times gets old)

Only Play Darius1 votes

QE buffer is just when you cast E right after a Q right? How is that hard to pick up on...

Electro5222 votes

Its a little tricky to get it perfect. Both have a small cast time, but the E is quicker than your Q. Its very easy to just whiff the stun cause you pressed E too fast.

Also, the E range tends to get me quite a bit. Its just shorter than you think, and so you end up being just barely out of range to hit the ball.

A Liberal1 votes

Its not hard to pick up on its just that all these first time syndras don't do it, they cast q and wait until the entire orb is formed, by which time you can just walk away

lol, Poppy jungle fucking wrecks.

It's similar to playing Rammus except you can viably build MR. You lose literally no health to camps and only have to worry about mana.

So annoying when I see an AurelionSol using Stormraider's Surge and building corrupting potion to GLP and banshee's veil, and then feeding. As someone who's played him since release this hurts a lot.

Cryo001 votes

Wait, you don't usually get Stormraider's on him ?

Electro5221 votes

Uh......why would you? Thunderlords is a 1000x times better on him.

MonkeyMadness2 votes

ik the feels bro. I'm kinda on the flip side of that, though. I always enjoyed playing kennen in normals. He was my first mage champ back in season 2, so I like to go back to him every once in a while. Now that he's "OP" I get occasional flack for picking him. Can't deal with how much the LCS tournament affects our non-pro meta.

Elikain2 votes

The argument with such a person should have ended with "enjoy your game, Mr. LCS sheep", with you flaunting your lvl 7 Mastery emote in front of their faces for good measure.

I'm perfectly aware that there are people who like to not use their brains for what they were meant for because it's easier to copy the pros and current trends, pretending like they're the ones who invented them. I feel bad for those people as they'd never know the joy of having a favorite champion, playing them "against the LCS odds" and still winning the game because you know how and when to fight to have an advantage.

Just gonna leave it here. Zyra support was considered S tier until mid diamond. She is nowhere to see in LCS.

A Liberal1 votes

A exception does not discredit a phenomenon

Odinakos1 votes

Well she is a pretty huge exception, pretty much the support class supports OP's arguement. For almost any match in solo queue Zyra is one of the strongest picks, but she is quite sub optimal in competitive. Raka is another example, hovering beween A and S tier until Challenger with a solid S. And still she is just a niche pick on pro stage. Janna is one of the best for solo and still very little competitive presence.

Hrd2H1t1 votes

Back when I mained Taliyah people banned her because she "wasn't good" despite the fact that Taliyah was extremely strong a the time once you mastered the E-W-Q combo.

Nyusis1 votes

That's why i still Play Nasus Jax Renekton , and they considered "Off-meta" and guess what? competitive match.
