Bruisers (and tanks building bruiser) are missing AS items

Not sure if this is the thing that will solve the feels-bad moments of bruisers, but I noticed a lot of them have strong synergy with attack speed, but not really the other physical damage modifiers.

A good example is Irelia, who deals flat true damage with her W.

These characters have a conundrum for their itemization in that of the AS items, only three offer any defensive contribution.

item 3078 gives a small (very small) amount of health item 3139 gives a little bit of MR but is costed highly for that thanks to it's main purpose being its cleanse item 3091 is borderline meme territory even with its high AS and moderate MR

There is no AS+armor item There is only one AD+armor item ( item 3026 )

Juggernauts, who want to build AD and Health, have plenty of great options

item 3022 item 3053 item 3748 item 3071

But for tanky duelists, the options for AS drastically inhibit their defenses, especially with the pure defensive items being geared for individual early-game spikes rather than late-game pickups (item 3068 item 3065 item 3742 et al)

Preferably an item or two that are melee-only would be the ideal additions, to keep "bruiser one-shotting Quinn/Vayne /whatever" from being a thing

Many "bruiser" champions can't even use attack speed properly. That's the problem with using "bruiser", it groups champions together that have very little in common. I'm glad you separated Juggernauts from the mix in your post, but they are still "bruisers".

Oh I agree. I have my own contentions with the term and made a thread about it. That's why I used the term "building bruiser" -- building a mix of offense and defense, rather than using it as a catchall.

For a tank that could make use of this for example, there's Shen who deals % health daamge with his Q empowered attacks. getting those out faster while still gaining a decent amount of armor from an early build (about 40 armor or so) would open up a more assertive playstyle for him without turning him into just a bad fragile diver.
