If you want solo badges to mean something make it 90% of all games, not 90% of the last 25

If you can play 22-23 games in your current elo while solo queued without getting demoted, there's a good chance you belong there.

This mindset of the solo badge just being a verification that you deserve your rank is just another reason the current ranking system is flawed with dynamic queue and should be redone. To clarify, I agree with the point made, but currently ranks are very ambiguous and mean less then before.

The only symbol that you belong in your rank, is the paycheck pro players get. Anything else is boostable

Dynikus2 votes

I assumed that's the only reason you were complaining about it. I personally don't care about the badges, and I'll have a dynamic queue badge showing pretty soon. just means I play league with friends as far as I'm concerned.

Nidken2 votes

As far as the community is concerned, any player can be freely boosted to a rank they don't belong in.

Dynikus5 votes

Completely true. and that's why the solo badge exists, for the closed minded people that think a dynamic queue badge means you're a boosted animal.

AwesomeChad1 votes

And thats exactly what people want. You are not part of the problem.

The real issue i have is these dynamic queue players who think they can get dynamic queue premade boosted to a certain elo and then get the solo queue emblem just so they can hide that fact. Absolutely disgusting. Wear your true emblem.

AwesomeChad1 votes

right? If this is the only incentive solo rank players have to keep playing and players are giving the emblem greater significance and meaning, then that can only point back to the flaws with the ranked system not providing these things in the first place.

You can get boosted to dia 5 and win 23 games out of 65 and still be in diamond 5 with plat 4 mmr.

Why is it that if you have a Dyna badge you're instantly boosted? I play DQ with all my friends who are ALSO bronze/silver, yet I get associated with boosters for simply playing with friends with DQ as intented?

Also; so because I use a feature Riot made to let me finally play ranked with my equally ranked friends to climb, I should lose out on rewards if I possibly get higher than Bronze this season? Not everyone uses DQ to boost, and it pisses me off to hear "hey, you want to play with friends? Fuck you, you booster, you deserve to get rewards taken away."

PS: If I really am 'boosted,' then wow I'm a broke dude aren't I, considering I just got demoted again. ._.

It's the perspective of probability. I don't have statistics but I think you might agree that most of the people playing together are not in the same league. No matter if you are doing it for the elo gain or just to play with your friends. It's some kind of boosting. I'm not arguing what the definition of boosting is in terms of riot policy because everyone know what it means.

I don't say this mechanic is bad because this is the way it works if you mix solo player with premades. You can't change the core problem's (and benefits) of this system. In my opinon the only resonable solution is to seperate these two modes. Anything else would be a shift of burden between these two groups (see high elo exceptions). Of cause there are disadvantages like:

  • no 4 people premades
  • longer queue times but it would solve a lot of problems like boosting and matchamking.

Solo badges don't mean anything because they don't do anything. It's about as important as those ribbons you got from upvotes a few seasons back.

what does achieving diamond do? The only difference atm is that it will give borders and an icon for the next season, but we have no information yet on what will happen with the emblems. I hope they persist in some way.

Unless it gives access to a Solo Queue, it's basically nothing.

People had proved winning only 2~3 games without being solo gives you dynamic badge, this shit is fake as hell.

PiVoRx5 votes

And why so? 2-3 games can be promos, that otherwise you couldnt win alone. Anyway, 1 game boost its still a boost.

You eat mcdonald everyday, but one dat you decided to try kfc onve, are u a kfc fan now?

PiVoRx1 votes

bs comparison mate you can do good things entire life, but if you do one very bad thing, you still go to jail

The Deckowner1 votes

The emblem was SUPPOSED to be a representive of your PREFERENCE.

If you play solo all the time and only 1 or 2 premade game, you clearly prefer solo.

Dr Poro9 votes

You are vegetarian, but one day in the week you eat meat. Are you still vegetarian? That's a better comparison. The solo emblem means NO BOOST. If you can get it when being boosted occasionally, it means nothing anymore. Currently, you can still get it while boosted in the past which also reduces the value.

And should contact all your partners to tell them.

This, i already know few people who got dynamic boosted to d5 and now they play 1 solo game per month to maintain their rank.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

This logic though. "If you play even one game with a friend, you are boosted". Then who the hell are the boostERS? If I'm playing in Plat III, got there on my own and I play solo all the time, but I queue up and help my friend get from Gold IV to Gold I, am I boosted? No. I'll still have the Dynamic Badge, but that just shows I'm boosting others.

Meta Phyton1 votes

Actually, only the miserable people care excessively about the badge. The rest have fun, make plays, and don't care - or only see the badge and view it as a trinket; then go back to actually playing the game, because that is where the actual fun lies. Badges never were important to the fun in the experience, and envy over imaginary rewards is causing players to auto-destruct their enjoyment. So, have fun and be carefree. If somebody insults you, and calls you this or that .. well, you could be aware of the fact they are ruining their fun through envy, nit-picking, and endless fault-finding .... and yet you are having fun. So who really is the winner and who is the loser?

does 1 game of premade make you a boosted animal when you have hundreds of solo games?

Yes it does. Keep in mind that Dynamic Queue players are still being given a solo rating for their efforts rather than a premade one, thus they did not actually earn their rating. Someone helped them get it.

The Deckowner1 votes

ok so if you solo climbed from bronze to diamond but you played one game with someone your rank means nothing and you are boosted, seems legit.

It means that you played under a different set of rules and thus should not be treated as part of the same ranking or rating system because you did not earn it the same way that a solo player did. Playing in a premade is different from playing solo and that is why the two need to be treated separately. Otherwise, there would be no need to separate Ranked 5v5 from Dynamic Queue. They separate them because they are different formats.

AwesomeChad2 votes

yeah sorry but if you really wanted a solo badge, then you wouldnt have depended on queuing up with your friends to win a ranked game. There are solo players out there who grinded through literally hundreds of games to climb up the ladder. Meanwhile, you who were premade got to that same elo with way less wins. Yeah, you definitely deserve that solo queue emblem right? This emblem represents a person's sweat , tears, and perserverance. Its unethical to take that away.

The Deckowner1 votes

LOL I have the solo emblem I dont give a shit lol. what u said doesn't justify that playing ith a partner once or twice gives you a boosted animal.emblem.

AwesomeChad2 votes

but the emblem updates after every 25 games so those players would eventually get their solo emblems. Also when I said "you" , i was referring to the people that try to take advantage of this.

Meta Phyton2 votes

Did you spend time working this out just so you could get yourself upset?

DeathBurst1 votes

How can you get upvoted when there are so many other threads who are ALSO upvoted which complain about 90% being too much... Make up your mind people, for f*ck's sake...

Anyhoo... Why do you want that? What's the objective of the Solo Emblem for you? Proving that you deserve your rank? Just showing how you like to play the most? Something else entirely?

Dr Poro1 votes

+1 also have end of season rewards tied to whether you were a solo, team or boosted player. It would suck if the boosteds have the same border and icon as us.

AwesomeChad1 votes

upvoted. A solo queue emblem is not meant to be a joke among players. Solo players have NO incentive to play ranked right now but if Riot were to make the emblem much harder to get (say for a dynamic premade player), then that would elevate the value of the solo emblem.

Quepha1 votes

It's 90% of the last 25 wins which honestly sounds more restrictive than your suggestion.

Riot's system requires that you actually win games as a solo, yours only requires that you play as a solo but you can still have a bunch of dynamic games with ringers in your premade that carry you up higher.

Vallalan1 votes

it sounds good in theory, but this would be abused by people who do care about the emblems.

you can basically have someone spam in their elo at their MMR and win a decent amount of games solo and stay at their respective elo. after spamming a shit ton of games, end of season comes and their buddy boosts them for a 25 straight win streak. they get the solo badge, etc.

i mean i don't really care. the emblems don't really mean much as you are still vs and with premades even if you are solo, but it can be abused in either direction.

the emblem is kind of a joke right now.

Weasel Kensei1 votes

Why bother bringing it up? They dont care if solo queue means anything. The whole point of this is to show that DYNAMIC QUEUE means something.

Riot has an agenda here, and its to shut up all the people who despute their claims against Dynamic queue, and the people asking for solo queue back.
