Dynamic Queue reduces toxicity

Nidken··49 votes·1,348 views

In the middle of my ranked game, fizz who is going 6/1 tells everyone

"brb, im going to go get myself lunch"

10 minutes later, after all our towers and inhibitors are destroyed, he comes back. He and his premade team call me a crybaby for complaining. I'm the only person to report him after we lose.

THANKS RIOT FOR THE BEST SYSTEM EVER.

Yes, yes.

We all know by now that the single most damaging change this game has ever suffered is DQ. It increased queue times, increased toxicity, allowed players to form up into toxic gangs, ruined what little competitive integrity the game used to have, and is widely disliked by the community and almost universally disliked in diamond and up.

Riot deserves a solid two thumbs up for this one. Totally par for the course from a terrific company that never lies to its playerbase or ignores their concerns for the last 6 or 7 years.

The new champion select had a larger impact on the queue times

Wow, you've been complaining since the game even first came out? 6-7 years? That's way before DQ started.

That's a crazy long time to play something you actively don't enjoy. No wonder yu're miserable now.

Pretty much.

Go play Overwatch..? Jeez man. I actually feel for you being so miserable.. Maybe LoL just isn't the match for you, and you'd actually genuinely be happier in a different game.

Meta Phyton1 votes

Why waste a whole decade of your life doing something that really makes you so miserable ..? You got options eh?

Meta Phyton1 votes

It's not normal to be that miserable - for real. You might actually have some kind of reason to speak to your doctor there. Not to try and put some fear or panic into your head, but 6-7 years of misery, even when the game is said to have been at its peak.. Something's not working here for you, in your favour.

That's DQ in a nutshell for ya. But hey, at least now we can Q with any comfortable number of "friends".

Someone in one of my games did this, but they said it was a father's day gift and they refused to forfeit even though it was in the first two minutes of the game. Needless to say, we lost that game

One report has the same effect as 9 reports.

So do your part to reduce toxicity and probably save yourself from getting a retaliatory report by not complaining. Just report him. The fact is everyone has these types to deal with. It's not like Diamond players got there by not having to deal with it.

The fact is, dynamic garbage makes this worse, because previously, a$$hats like that were flamed into the ground and reported by their entire team.

Now they have 3 buddies with them, who defend their behaviour.

You do realize multiple reports is no different than one report, right? A report only flags the game to get checked, so one is all that's ever needed. And that's why the whole "asking others to report someone" is considered toxic.

Also, what you said makes it sound like solo q would be worse, since the guy who was originally toxic and left apparently would've been hard flamed by his whole team.

would've been hard flamed by his whole team.

Yeah, so? I don't see a problem here.

One of the reasons why I love Overwatch so much, is that bad people get called out for it. If someone purposefully damages the game for his teammates, then that someone has to bear the consequences. And that includes reading the responses of his teammates.

Yeah but that's considered toxicity...which the point of OP was saying that toxicity was raised from DQ....when what you said would be higher toxicity in SQ. See my point? Not saying what's worse or better, but that you just went against OP's point.

I did not, and I will explain why. See, this statement...

Yeah but that's considered toxicity

...has two sides. Because, going afk is toxic as well.

Telling an afk that what hes doing is ruining the game for others, is simply an accurate statement.

But now we allow players with such game-damaging behaviour to operate under the protection of their premades. They no longer not only don't get called out for it, no, now they also get supported, because anyone who ever says a word against them, immediately faces all their friends as well.

That makes some of these players feel secure in what they do, it makes them fell as if their behaviour is acceptable...and while I don't have the numbers to prove it, the conclusion that this leads to an increase in such behaviour, is only logical.

And that is what, imo, OP meant by "increased toxicity".

Riot has still said many times that one report on a player for a game is all that matters, which is why they actively discourage others from calling for extra reports, which is now seen as reportable itself.

Dextix LT2 votes

Yea, Riot has also said that Soloq Is coming back and that the old tribunal is being updated.

Mister Support2 votes

Ok, people need to get this in their heads. "Reduces" does not mean "Eliminate", just that there is less. So trying to counter argue by simply providing one example of a toxic moment proves nothing. Youre just trying to aimlessly make a system sound bad. Yes toxicity will still happen, just at a lower rate.

Btw, one report does the same work as 9 reports so you don't have to worry on that end.

Sorry, but your anecdotal evidence is nothing compared to Riot's actual data.

The system is very bad.

I mean, that shit happened on the old system. it's not more toxic.

Yeah, good thing this never happened before! Toxicity only started in Season 6 with the advent of Dynamic Queue.

I'm all for criticizing a system, don't get me wrong, but you (most of the Dynamic Queue haters) really need to just stop with the hyperbole. I've got news for you, Blind Pick is toxic, Normal Draft is toxic, ARAM is toxic, TT is... full of bots so it's technically not toxic but, if it had actual humans, it would also be toxic.

The community is the problem and no matter what system you put in place you need to remember that people will still be assholes. Harsh, unforgiving penalties regarding toxicity and creating some type of great disincentive toward circumventing the process by simply creating new accounts is the only way to slow down the poor behavior.

Kürama1 votes

What was preventing this from happening in Solo queue? Other than the premade ganging up on you which you could have muted and one report would be enough to flag their accounts for the match.

runedara1 votes

Idk about ranked but it seems less in normals. I just play normals mostly so the pre- made's rolling over you happened a lot more.

this post gave me aids. dq has no relation to the situation you just described.
