[POLL] How do you feel about the changes made to Brand during the MYMU?

While Brand was definitely an explosive champion, he never felt "unstable". All he wants to do is burn away all that is to make way for all that will be. He's wildfire. Emphasis on burn. Taking Brand's burn away, I feel he lost some of his identity.

The percent of health burn meant it was useful at almost every point in the game. Now, it does close to nothing. All of a sudden, being set on fire doesn't hurt. The passive explosions don't really feel like they fit thematically with Brand. Brand was a walking volcano, and his abilities used to reflect that. I just feel like they sacrificed his identity and pushed this new passive on him.

I've been playing him for a while since the MYMU... and honestly, I find myself playing him less and less these past few weeks. He just doesn't feel right to me. The passive feels out of place. His E is only good for trying to combo his other abilities when it used to be a decent tool for waveclearing.

I can still get kill and so positive with him, I'm not saying he's bad or weak. It just doesn't feel like Brand, it feels like something else.

It feels like we've taken the emphasis off his abilities and stuck it on a rather silly-looking passive. The new burn vfx looks great! But the explosions look... meh. Maybe if they looked more like, well, fire, then it wouldn't be so bad. But they just look like... poofs. lil' poofs... and that's what Brand feels like now. lil' poofs

He's alright in team fights, just like he was before. That's not a problem, but it didn't change much with the update. His abilities definitely feel incredibly lacking, and needing to land a full combo to really do anything is both costly and means when once you're on cooldowns... you're toast. I get that that's a weakness of his, but when you try to all-in... and fail/Yasuo wind-walls yo ass/they dash away from their team/etc...

This is hard to explain... but Brand's damage used to be a little unreliable with his rng ult. However, now he feels even more unreliable. Unless you get that combo (and unless you've itemized cooldowns hardcore), the fast-paced teamfights mean you're usefulness ends as soon as you're done casting.

In the end, I gotta say that my biggest dislike with the changes is that the burn on his passive doesn't hurt anymore. The explosions don't seem to fit Brand who used to be just as much about burning people as blowing them up. Like, it went hand-in-hand. And itemizing for it felt really good. Now, he's just so... meh. I keep telling myself if his new passive explosions looked better, then maybe... but honestly, when it comes down to it, they just don't feel like Brand to me.

I do not believe so.

In teamfights Brand excels, which I think was their primary focus, which means they completed what they wanted.

On the other hand...Brand now has a MUCH harder laning phase. It is much more difficult to punish his opponent as his passive burn (pre 3 stacks) and base damages were all significantly reduced. If my opponent gets too close to the minion wave before the MYMU I could chunk them and force them back to gain a lane advantage to roam. Now, my opponent can do whatever they please as long as there are minions in the way. Does not matter how many times I hit them with my W or E. All of his damage was loaded into his 3-hit passive making him feel useless until mid/late game. Even then, you will most likely find yourself behind as it is easier for you to lose lane now.

Overall:

Likes:

  • I enjoy what they did to his passive
  • Massive teamfight potential and destruction

Dislikes:

  • P, Q, W, and R were gutted via damage
  • Laning phase is much harder and find yourself behind a lot
  • Can not get full power of kit in laning phase
  • We were told his E would be made more centric to his kit but that fell short

I agree with you OP. I played Brand as support, and overall feel he has much less impact in the lane phase and is more of a 1 trick pony than before. His abilities feel weak, the nerf to his passive was a big deal and while it's fun to land a 3 shot combo on someone it doesn't seem to have that big an impact when it actually goes off.

The nerf of his passive really hurt his lane competiveness in my opinion.
