Boards and ranged champions.

Why the hell does everyone here have such a hate boner for ranged champions.

It’s like everyone just mimics hashinshin on here.

That depends on whether that ranged champion lacks counterplay.

For example most( not all)mages have dodgeble abilites Where as most marksmen are very limited in that regard.

The thing about marksman is they are the weakest champions on the team until almost 9000 gold. (Excluding lucien) That’s a very very very large window to abuse them.

And most mages hVe dodgeabke abilities, if you predict them, or have t2 boots.

play a melee into vayne/quinn then revisit your thread

"get counterpicked by someone who's going to be useless to the team because they bring very little utility and then rethink your thread"

play ADC and fight a Riven Jax Aatrox who got a slight lead in lane and then revisit your comment.

I think that its more a mix of people disliking change and devotion to some champions

Very little in this game feels as bad as getting kited into oblivion. It's usually because of an overextension on the melee's part, but it still feels aweful. The reverse is true though: nothing feels quite as good as a melee champ when the enemy is light on cc and you can jump into the middle of a fight and feel like a warlord as you carve down your enemies (even if you die and lose the fight, it feels more fun then winning but not personally doing anything except absorb cc).

People also dislike change. Ranged champions (Marksmen specifically) have a lot of changes recently and it sparks some negative reactions, people scared that their going to force their champions out of the meta. While this is a small part, its is noticable.

Also, Teemo. most melee champs live in top lane right? So what do they encounter when playing against range? Teemo. Freaking Teemo. One of the most frustrating to play against memes of league, that little rat can make a melee champs life a living nightmare. Other ranged champions that pick on melee's: Jayce, Kennen, Hermidinger. Notice a pattern? the level of skill to play against them is exhausting, while potentially shuting them out of the game until lane phase ends...maybe. If the jungler did not find it in their heart to help relieve some of the pressure, these top melee champs may have fallen irrecoverably far behind.

The result is these melee champ lovers have TERRIBLE experiences with ranged champs. Almost nothing is as satisfying for them as crushing them into the ground.

There is nothing better in Toplane than having no gapcloser and an enemy Kennen, I love that feeling, also they need to play so well to get away!

hahaha, exactly the point. I think there are ways to counter them, but it is so much harder than it is to play against them. There's no playing "casually" against a ranged champion unless your intending to feed. Razor focus and intensity have to be put it. And when their harrassing little pests when I'm puting that energy into the game... Lets say its a bit tilting.

I do have a casual playstyle that I can do against ranged champs or hard matchups for nasus. Just spam E a lot and poke them out, this is especially easy against teemo because he will be trying so hard to push the wave back with his auto attacks that he can’t harass me at all. And it’s fairly easy to get stacks this way because I can poke the teemo so much that if he tries to Q me to deny stacks I just wither and all in him because he is super low.

this strat of poking is very similar to how ranged champs and some melee champs play the lane phase. poke or win a trade early to get the enemy low, then manipulate the wave to push towards your tower. Freeze the wave just outside your tower, maintain the freeze and keep the enemy laner from touching the wave by poking or doing small trades if they get too close. It’s easy farm/stacks for you, you are safe from ganks because you are extremely close to your tower, and you are getting ahead in CS/exp.

I love that build, I used it a lot. I used to main Yorick and used Nasus as my fall back when i had a bad matchup or got him picked/banned out from under me. Good times.

Im not propossing extra nerfs for ranged champions though. I love Lux, Ziggs, and Annie. I just understand the pain experienced against some of these matchups. Most champions aren't like Nasus that have a gimic they can fall back on. The burden is on the melee champion to play nearly perfectly if they want to win lane or even come out even. Nothing in this game is as painful as playing into hermidinger, since you have 0 ability to play against him. You just sit under tower and dodge as much poke as you can, praying your jungler comes and saves you from that nightmare.

Even with your jungler it is still very hard to gank and kill a Heimerdinger. His devil triangle of turrets deal lots of damage to anybody who comes near, and most of the people that gank him or fight him during lane are pretty squishy.

Well that’s your own fault? You either got counterpicked, or picked into it, which is your own fault.

Counterpicking isn’t just melee exclusive.

They dont hate ALL ranged champions. You cant complain about mages for example or you'll get downvoted. No, it's just ADCs.

IBG, Sunfire, and Spirit visage are overbearing, creating a tank meta

The Boards: "tanks aren't the problem, it's the items!"

Ardent censer is overbuffed to a ridiculous point

The Boards: "fucking ADCs, worst champs in the game"

I don't understand their hatred for markspeople either. God forbid a squishy gets an item that's only 70% gold efficient without the shielding passive. God forbid ADCs can survive getting dived on even with a support. God forbid DPS champions are able to deal damage.
